  1. I would love to fund this and get a set of those die. Also, that would be fantastic if it reaches the 1,200 Backers goal and I could get digital version of the MAG, so I could use my new awesome die and start playing the game!
  2. Well if I had an unrestricted choice I would probably pick Wyndle. XD Although Pattern would be a close second if we were making our choice off of Cosmere Knowledge that can be gained via the interaction with the spren. Pattern has basically been a gold mine for speculation and theorizing, with his concise, specific choice of words. (Which makes me wonder if there is any sort of pattern or code hidden among Pattern's speech/dialogue.), is better overall for a reader because of the information he can drop in the text. We've learned quite a bit from just Pattern alone..... ....But.... Syl is just so fun! She can be frustrating because of her lack of knowledge, and inability to answer sometimes what can be perceived as simple questions -- yet still having a huge impact on the cosmere and general reader-based knowledge. But her answers give just enough insight, I think. She's not supposed to be a treasure trove of information, like more of the other spren who were actually sent to whichever specific people, she has more of a unique, loveable personality. Scenes with her just leave me smiling, every single time. Pattern is fun and amusing, and fun to read... but Syl is just adorable.
  3. There is also the sub-forum that runs Sanderson Elimination, which has RP for the players in the games, but also run them in the style of Mafia or Werewolves (if you're familiar). And the Role-playing in these games just usually take place in whatever world the game is running in.
  4. *Insert Office Space Meme* It is a shame that stuff like this can happen, especially with how easy it is to scour the internet and wiki pages with bots that just compile whatever text. Glad to hear that I wasn't unnecessarily wary with this, though. Does this mean you and Team Sanderson get to follow this link up with a Legal Smackdown? Or will you just send in the Kandra to do the dirty work?
  5. The World Championships/World Cup have been streaming live all week. Today is the Top 4 of the World Cup and Top 8 of the Championships. Some rather excellent magic playing, actually. Standard is pretty crazy right now. O.o
  6. How much of Hoid would a Kandra have to eat to be able to replicate him? What would happen if we smashed Shards together in a Large Hadron Collider? (Or just large amounts of Investiture, I suppose) ((Maybe even Spren? O.o)
  7. So when browsing Barnes & Nobles online store for more Sanderson books to add to my collection, I came across this pricing that seems to be charging $19.99 for what appear to be excerpts from Brandon Sanderson's Blog. Specifically on the Wheel of Time, I imagine some of his earlier blogs about the process of writing it and whatnot. But I asked myself.... is this even legal? I mean, aren't Brandon's Blogs his own personal property? Is he giving consent to the charging of what seems like it should be free, available info? What is going on here? The seller is attributed to 'Source Wikia' I don't think anybody is dumb enough to actually buy this product like this, but still. How does this even happen?
  8. Just popping in real quick because there seems to be some discussion of Fair Play Rules and Etiquette, so I will just remind everybody to just review them. The question at hand with Editing posts, it is stated So it is preferable to edit to add an afterthought, but careful not to change any of the previous content or intent of your post. If you've posted something you later want to retract, strikethrough is a good solution. Double posts should be made as little as possible, and only to help progress the game and conversation if you have something different to add. Players should also restrain from making extraneous posts, whenever possible. Please, everybody, PM me if you have any other questions or concerns, and let's get back to your regularly scheduled slaughter!
  9. When I was reading the book, I had in mind that it might be a pretty nifty game on something like the 3DS. Bear in mind, I've never actually owned or used one of those devices, but it just seemed like it'd work pretty good. Of course, there'd have to be some leniency with the skill required drawing on one of those screens. Beginner levels could have tracers for the complex circles. Or the idea of making it like a strategy with leveling up skills also sounds like it'd be a fantastic idea. Also with the idea of turning it into some Tower Defense type game, would be a really fun browser based games, even. (Where are the skilled flash users/game makers on the forum. We're looking at you. )
  10. I know you weren't specifically mentioning the Breath to Stormlight Ratio, but I do have a copy of WoK ordered from Brandon's site asking the question of the ratio. Let's hope when it comes that it didn't get RAFO'd!
  11. Bahaha, sorry, couldn't resist. >.< That was my immediate thought when reading the thread title. But as far as the actual thread matter, I suppose it depends on the viewpoint. For the Shardholder, and people who are probably currently attuned to that Shard's Intent, it could be quite a horrible thing. But as far as the long run, once everything gets settled out, would things be 'better overall' for the normal people just living in the worlds? Again, I guess it depends on the results of the actual Shard being Splintered. But then again, we did know of one thing that was kind of Splintered, or at the very least definitely Shattered. Andonalsium. And that turned out more or less not horrible, I suppose. O.o (Although the people of Yolen will probably give us a big RAFO on how that one worked out....) ((Waiting for Dragonsteel to find out. ))
  12. Magam stepped out of the shadows, surveying the destruction Hoid had left in his wake. "Slow to arrive, sure to survive," he intoned, seeing if he could take up rhyming and short quips to help him with his suffered speech. He didn't think the habit would end up sticking. "Do you think they died laughing?" (S)Laughter asked in a serious manner, sounding genuinely curious and concerned that they didn't. "Shadows, bugger if I know" Magam replied sighing. "Seems to me that they had more pressing concerns, in their final moments., but with The Fool being involved, you never know" Magam knew that his involvement probably wouldn't have made a difference, but he still regretted not being able to help out somehow. "Starting to sound like you know who...." (S)Laughter cut in, laughing. "Storming Awakened Blades," Magam cursed. "Stop reading my mind." "Stop being so morose." "Standing here arguing with swords will earn Magam no awards." He stiffly replied, ending the conversation and turning away from the grizzly scene. He performed whatever method it was necessary to Hop-Between-Worlds to return to Threnody to do some thinking. He just hoped the place was still standing. "Shouldn't have left the Shades of Ash and Raze in charge...." He said, sighing once more and regretting his drunken decision. He wouldn't have gotten wasted, telling stories to strangers if he had known that Hoid was going to strike. But then again, he wasn't Hoid, so there was no way he could have known that was going to happen -- or at least any way that anybody other than Hoid knew of.
  13. So, would a normal LHC be capable of smashing apart those chunks of sDNA from magical objects, like Aitum or some Invested object? Would that then be pure Investiture, or would it be too unstable and dissipate or whatever, like all of those other sub-atomic particles? (Since that's the level they'd have to be working at for a Particle Accelerator). But as we know in Fantasy, Bigger is Better, right? We might need to see how Southern Scadrial Magic-Tech works, and probably more along the lines of Sci-Fi cosmere, when they get FTL, but they should have the means to create some sort of Investiture-Enhanced Accelerator to be able to smash larger, and more Invested objects. And then of course there could be the conspiracy theorists protesting the machine's launch, citing it will cause another rift in the Cosmere, and shattering of the Shards or whatever.
  14. Friend tried not to gag at the horrible smell as him and Aidan stacked the corpses for removal as Doomsday and her clones ransacked the plundered mini fridge. He was still so grateful to be alive, he didn't even crack a wise joke about how she could share some of the booze if she just didn't have so many clones. I might not be able to spot a Baron, but I still know what to say and what not to say to them when I know who they are. "Hey, remember this slontze?" Friend asked, as the tossed Raid's body onto the pile. "I wonder whatever happened with his old grand-pappy he was always rambling on about?" Aidan just glared at him over top the handkerchief he was holding to his face, and Friend just went back to work. Eh. I doubt it actually matters. That's all behind us now. He wanted to mourn for the innocent bodies, and the two other Barons, but really, he just didn't feel for them as much. None of them had been his friends, after all. He was rather confident neither of his new friends, Aidan or Doomsday, would end up trying to kill him again. And he was looking forward to whatever adventures may come their way. It will be like getting the old band back together! He smiled to himself. If I were actually in the band before. And if it were to actually to get back together...... and if that phrase wasn't deader than disco and almost everybody in here. Maybe it was Doomsday's personality rubbing off on him, but Friend had never really truly explored who he truly was inside. As a Street Performer, he was always acting and performing, never being himself. And he never had friends to be himself around either. But he liked the new, improved version of himself. Sure, his sense of humor may be a little bit more macabre now, but who didn't get that, hanging around an Epic? "I think this will be a lot of fun." He declared, causing Aidan to give him a confused look as he glanced down at the corpse in Friend's hands. "I mean, this whole recruitment thing. I think this won't be so bad, in the end." He took a nervous look around before leaning in and whispering to the Enforcer. "And between you and me, near the end there, I think you broke through to her. Crazy, right? I mean, it's not like either of us are going to mention it or anything. Because nobody talks feelings or morality with Epics, obviously.....but yeah." He reached his arm out and shook Aidan's hand. Also dropping the dead mouse into the man's pocket, as well. He needed some way to get at least a little bit of light-hearted payback for the guy trying to kill him. And he couldn't exactly prank Doomsday and hope to live... "To friendship." He said, smiling.
  15. Heh, well after scanning the Baron Doc for all 183 mentions of my name (and hurting my brain looking at Wilson's extensive scenario lists O.o ) , it seems I have finally earned a Title. The Highprince of Paranoia. I really didn't anything this game besides using my power to protect myself the entire time. Killing Jasnah was what Bob Ross would call a 'Happy Accident'. XD I love it. Although, for this game I must admit I regret not trying to keep up on my usual notes and being minimally active (especially considering my standards) I think I ended up ruling out Wilson ultimately because of her being Mitosis, after the Jasnah was revealed as the Neutralizer, I just wrongly assumed the Barons wouldn't have Mitosis as well. XD I did laugh at any mention of me doing extensive PM'ing, as I'm surprised I participated as much as I did in the PM with Aonar and Wilson, and was almost silent in the other couple I was briefly in. >.> I really should have networked more in this game and tried making more friends... who didn't try shooting me in the head or making me kill myself. But the Barons did run a great game, and definitely deserve the win. Getting to survive as a new Lackey seems like a good enough life for Friend, all things considered. This game was absolutely fantastic, Alv, and was truly well done. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and the Rooms Mechanic, and all the items inside. I do wish I spent time searching rooms, just to see what there all was. O.o Can't wait to see Part 2, and if I have to sit out, then I'll enjoy spectating just as much!
  16. Friend was dropped to the ground, on the verge of breaking down into hysterics as the relentless arms of the clones of Doomsdays forcing his hand holding the knife closer and closer to his chest suddenly let go and the copies of Kenna disappeared back into her host. He had been to.... er- distracted, to catch what she said, but her solemn retreating figure left him even more confused. He was panting on all fours, head drooped close to the ground. A glimmer caught his eye as he saw his Faithful necklace bathed in a patch of sunlight streaming through the window. He had never seen anything so beautiful in his entire life. "What.... in.... the.... sparks..... is.... going.. on." He panted in between heavy breaths, fighting back sobs. This was no perfomance. There were no cards on the table. The show was over, the chips were stacked and cashed out, and the fat lady had sung hours ago and was enjoying a philly cheesesteak somewhere in Calamity knows-where before bed. Was there a chance for the madness to end without anymore bloodshed. Is this even possible?, he desperately hoped, in vain. OOC Text says it all. You totally basically won this game with your long con well-deservedly. I hope the guilt trip didn't really get to you, as that was just totally the RP aspect. I totally forgot about Friend's Faithfulness until that moment. >.< I applaud your Eliminator Skills. Well played game, indeed.
  17. Friend watched on with rising panic as his hour of fate drew nearer. He struggled all he could against the grip of the various Kenna's holding him down, but he knew his efforts were in vain. The mouse he had tossed at Aidan earlier had crawled back over to him and had begun gnawing on his sneakers, already almost through the fabric and to his toes. Friend grimly wondered if it'd keep going once it got a taste of his blood. He glared at Aidan who watched on, looking apologetic and helpless. Friend knew from the look on the Enforcer's fate that this was not a battle he was choosing not to fight. It turns out I don't have any friends, after all, he laughed bitterly. He let out one last scream, hoping Kelsey would wake up from her catatonic state, but knew the attempt would be futile. He gave one last effort and ripped one arm free from one of the clones. "I curse your name, Doomsday!" He yelled with venom, ripping free his sacred, steel silver necklace. His symbol of being one of The Faithful, who had hope for Epics that would be their saviors. He now knew where that faith got him. "Never again will I trust!" He tossed it at Doomsday's feet. He began to hum and sing a sad, lamenting song. Time for one final performance.
  18. So, here on Earth, we have a large machine called the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) that smashes particles together at super high speeds to blow them to bits, find what they're made of, and try and understand the basic building blocks and origins of our Universe. Could the Cosmere do the same? Once certain worlds become technologically capable, what would happen if they built their own LHC? But since Investiture is a thing, and the assumed building blocks of the Universe, would they instead decide to somehow distill pure particles of Investiture, and try smashing those together? What would be the results? Can we even assume that the Conservation of Energy, and the laws of E = MC2 are applicable in the Cosmere? Would their laws of Physics be the same on that level? Thoughts?
  19. I was starting to have a feeling that it had to have been one of you two, but knew that it was basically a game over if there were the case. Goes to show that's what I get for barely paying attention to the game and ruling out Mitosis as not being a possible Baron Role, on account of it being quite powerful for them in this game, as this vote clearly shows. XD Good game, Wilson. The Long Con. Friend couldn't help but give kudos to such an excellently executed grift. As a Performer, he could appreciate the craft of The Talent. He was still holding the dead mouse in his one hand, but with a quick flourish he managed to dip the hand into his pocket and switch it out with a live mouse, which he tried to throw at the devious Kenna, but one of her Clones just made it be tossed at Aidan. "I'm sorry buddy. Apparently I can only trick people at Night time, which is a weird restriction for a talent that can be used during the day as well. But don't give in to her evil offer! Fight to your last breath!" Friend was hoping he'd have one last friend, still. It was the least that could be hoped for. Edit: Epic High Lord GM, does Mitosis' Strong Arm power work if I don't have a vote placed? (Fishing for a way around this ) Because if there's no vote there, it can't be changed.... (eh? eh? )
  20. Friend stared, speechless, as it was discovered that Spark was innocent all along. "Sparks, what a mess!" He cried out, tossing the other, now useless, walkie-talkie into the wall, smashing it. He had always thought Spark was trying to trick and deceive him with the walkie, somehow. Trying to earn his confidences. But calamity. The guy was just fishing for friends.... "Well, we should probably do this before she wakes up. Where's Kelsey?" Yikes. >.< Sorry, Araris. I thought you were just trying to be stubborn and survive as long as possible to make us second guess ourselves. I guess the Kelsey really has been an inactive Baron the whole time. XD Edit: Retracted vote due to betrayal.
  21. Don't worry, the game that just started up is a 'Quick Fix' length game, so those tend to not last too long. We usually have a faster pace of games being started, but we've recently slowed down just a little bit due to the busy time of the year. But like I said, a new game will be starting up before too long. Once a new game starts, all you need to do is post and sign-up! Until then, feel free to pop over into the Art of Game Creation Thread to take a look at what kind of ideas people have been coming up with for their different games, you can browse through the past games that have played to see all of the fun RP and shenanigans, and don't forget to peruse the Elimination Games Etiquette Policy! Looking forward to having you in future games!
  22. Friend watched on and whistled an old tune as Aidan made quick work of the Baron, who had overspent himself on his illusions and scare tactics. "And thus an end to the Epic know as Altered - er, mean Alter - mind." Friend spoke up, only slipping up a little bit. Still, the guy had been great fun. Almost whimsical. He nodded to his companions and withdrew to the designated room, ready for one last night to finish it once and for all. They passed Kelsey out in the hallway, still fast asleep, her cot somehow having become a luxurious bed sometime over the last few nights without Friend somehow noticing. He just shrugged and turned in for the night, putting on a pair of headphones and began juggling. He started off with play, test balls, but eventually moved onto pins and then flaming torches. They spun and twirled through the air, in a dizzying, magnificent display. He added one more, and then another, and they all became hard to even keep track of, instead all just appearing as tiny pinwheels of flame. As a Street Performer, he did still have to live off of tips from performances.
  23. Friend stood there and look on bemused as the so-called 'Altermind' ranted on about his impending death and then offered him an alliance in the very next sentence. Before threatening him with death again. "Maybe his mind really is altered..." he muttered a little bit too loudly, drawing a few nearby laughs. He pulled an unopened package of playing cards out of his pocket, opening it up and beginning to shuffle it rapidly, with quick, dexterous movements. "What we have here, lady and gentlemen, is a...." he trailed off, lifting the top card off of the deck, revealing it to be the Joker. But the face had been replaced with Milton's. "As a practiced Street Performer, sleight of hand and illusions are my specialty, after all." He grinned, and flourished, making the Joker disappear, and then in a quick flurry began whipping cards off of the top of the deck with a quick flips of the wrist, sending them flying like projectiles into the corners of the room. They hit tiny little, almost hidden mechanical devices that were jutting out of hidden compartments in the solid steel wall, drawing everybody's attention to them. "Riot discouragement tactics, you see," Friend explained, pointing to the little turret like machines. "Illusions can't affect your mind, only your perception. Those there are high pitch frequency sonic blasters, to emit painful bursts of ringing noises on the borders of our audible receptivity. Quite effective at neutralizing large crowds. And those bigger guys, swiveling around are high-end spectrum infrared laser guns. Short bursts of those on a low enough setting could cause quite the sensation of pain for an instant, if aimed properly. Say via remote control." "But the flashes were all you, I reckon, not anything like flashbang grenades or whatever. Illusions can affect what we see, I did say," he hastily added to appease the irate looking Milton. Friend smiled as he winked at his friends nearby. Funny to think of them as 'friends', he thought curiously, one of them did try to shoot me in the head, after all. "And how do I know that 'flamethrower' just isn't a leaf-blower with a propane tank duct-taped to it?" Heh, same question as Friend about this alleged flame-thrower. Does it give a day kill or something, oh High Lord Epic GM, or is Milton bluffing about that as well?
  24. Well, might as well go for Milton. Either he's lying, or we take the jacket out. Which leaves us 4 to just all group together in one room tonight, where we can keep an eye on Araris. Even if Kelsey is the final Baron, since she's inactive we don't need to worry about her at the moment.
  25. Gambles looked on with interest at the growing confusion as more and more people arrived. Some of them seemed to know each other, while managing to remain complete strangers. Bloody strange people, he thought to himself, unable to shake the strange dialect from his tongue yet again. The memories of where he last went were starting to grow fuzzy, and all he could remember is that it was supposed to be impossible. Back where I belong, he thought, smiling triumphantly. Although he did miss his prize he had managed to bring back with him. It had been a long time since he thought of Sookie, his precious da'mane. He still couldn't believe he had lost her in a bet. It was bad gambling days like that that had made him curse his name. But now he was back in the proper Cosmere, he wanted to lay low for a while. And that meeting up ahead did not look like it would fit in the definition of 'laying low'. So he was going to hang back, and watch, for now. He flipped a coin in the air, catching it deftly in his hand as it came back down. "Who wants to bet that this is a trap?" He muttered to himself, never able to completely break character. It was one of his best, and most tragic, personality traits. Gambles will be sitting out on this game, but it does look like a lot of fun! Good luck to everybody that is playing!
