$30k reached, with 35 hours to go! O.o We might even get 2 Exclusive Dice at this point, which would help narrow down the debate over which ones to chose! Just remember: A vote for Lerasium is a vote for Harmony. Edit: Next Exclusive is unlocked at $35k, by the way.
-
.....And we are now at less than $300 until 10 Dice! Edit: BOOYA! We have broke $24k! $30k doesn't seem so silly anymore..... Begin the speculation on the designs we can vote for! Probably Aluminum or some of the other Allomantic metals, but I certainly wouldn't mind a choice for a Hemalurgic Icon!
-
With 3 days to go, this project has seen a HUGE jump in number of backers and pledges! We've unlocked all 8 of the basic allomantic metals, and less than $3k away from Gold and Atium! I can say that I already went and doubled my pledge amount, and shall be getting 2 sets of dice now! So excited to get these!
-
One shelf would be taken up by those 3 books alone, most likely.

Ooh, I really like that game, Ren! That Corruption Mechanic looks awesome, great job! It actually looks rather solid as is! I even like how you utilized the secret 'Dragon' vote from my WoT! Also, popping in here to propose Two more game ideas (One LG and one probably MR), so add me to the GM list for both! XD Mid-Range(ish): Welcome to the Steel Ministry! You are the newest recruits for the Canton of Inquisition, and have been shown the wonders of Hemalurgy! But none of you have your coveted Eye Spikes yet, and you must earn them! There is a small group of Skaa Traitors who have infiltrated the Ministry, to learn the secrets of Hemalurgy and to find a way to kill The Lord Ruler! You must Eliminate them before they do the same to you! Long Range game: The Chromeria! For all the fans of Brent Week's Lightbringer Series, I am working on a full-fledged game, exploring multiple aspects of the world and books, and while I just started working on this one, it's shaping up to be epic already! For anybody who is fully caught up to Book 3 that would like to take a sneak peek, just shoot me a PM for the link! (Don't want to post it here until it's more worked out, but I could always use a few extra sets of eyes of course!) The game shouldn't contain any actual spoilers for the 3rd book when it runs (depending on how long it is until I run it, of course), but the game-building discussion and random book tangents might contain some!

A bit of a thread-necro here. I was just randomly wondering if anyone else on here plays Magic The Gathering: Online. I just signed up for it and downloaded the app, familiarizing myself with the interface, and bout to start checking some games out, see how it goes. Just seeing if anyone else on here uses it, that way we can get each other added up to play together and whatnot!

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Gamma Fiend replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Find stood upon a blackened hilltop, watching the ash fall down on the not-so-small village of Tyrian Falls from afar, chronicling everybody he could see roaming about. Recording who they were, what they did, and if at all possible, what their intents and motives might even be. With the impending threat of the advancing Koloss, and their defenses being weakened, Find had found himself wanting to rush down and volunteer his aide. But he reminded himself that his role was that his role was that of non-intervention. He was to simply Find stories and record them. Not participate himself. He sighed and started storing memories and notes he had collected thus far in his Coppermind, and then stopped with a sudden realization. He tapped copper instead, sorting through his catalog of memories and notes he had collected over years of careful hunting. He quickly found what he was looking for. A story, just like this one. No, almost exactly like this one. Find shook his head. Something wasn't right. He was missing something. It seemed like he still had a story to finish before he could watch this one unfold. Edit: Just to be clear, I will be sitting this game out as the Impartial Mod, so if anybody has any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask the GM or myself. This game is shaping up to look completely awesome, and I can't wait to see the bloodbath fun begin! Enjoy the game everybody! -
Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Congrats on the win! I was enjoying your RP throughout the whole game, and nice job staying alive and ahead of the competition! This game was definitely interesting, with it being a change-up from our Standard Elimination games. The whole free-for-all element definitely added a whole new layer to the game. Most uses of "Storm" in one sentence.

"Storm it", Stormy declared, storming the storming everstorm while the stormwall simultaneously stormed it's way over stormseat. (Kind of made mine a tounge-twister. ) The next step? The most uses of storm in a kelek! -
Yeah, tally up another one for Chromium Compounding. The best part? If you are one, you can almost guarantee you being able to pass the ability on through your bloodline. Think of it. What are the chances of somebody being a Chromium Twinborn? What about their son/daughter also being one? Wanna bet on the chances? *Taps infinite luck at the appropriate time*

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
--- .... -- ... Dam flashed the message again. --- .... -- ... Ohms. His and Melinda's secret nickname for each other. Dam kept flashing it over and over again in morse code, something Ohm would be familiar with, with him teaching her it when he had first learned it at one of his many power plant jobs. They had always used it as their secret method of communication when they were at home, tapping on the thin wall between their bedrooms when they were going to sleep, bidding each other good night. The lightbulb Wilson had given him was starting to dim and fade out, and he was starting to wonder just how foolish he was for hoping. Night had completely fallen hours ago, and the dense canopy of the forest completely blocked out whatever sliver of moonlight there might have been in the cloudy sky above, leaving Dam, and more importantly Ohms, in pitch black darkness. The arena might have been artificially constructed, but the sounds of nature were real enough. And so were the threats. The soothing sound of insects calling each other in the night, and the occasional hoot of owls would be interrupted by howls in the night, and even louder, blood-curdling screeches that would silence everything else afterwards, causing Dam to curl up even more in the small burrow he had constructed himself. He flashed the light again, one last time in desperation, dreading the moment he would finally admit just how daft it was to ever hope to find Melinda. Let alone protect her. He lowered his arm and a single tear leaked down his cheek. He knew he would never be able to fulfill his promise. He would never see her -- A rustling from some nearby bushes brought him out of his thoughts and startled him, causing him to snap his head up and lose his balance. He had precariously situated himself so as to be able to spring up at any moment's notice, but his legs had since fallen asleep hours ago. He tumbled right over backwards, flailing his arms as he did so. He couldn't have made himself any easier of a target, and he heard the rush of feet as the tribute rushed over to quickly finish their prey. He closed his eyes, able to bring forth one last memory of Ohms and her radiant smile, enjoying the warmth it brought him one last time. Sorry, sis. That was when he was tackled to the ground and embraced in a hug by a sobbing Ohms. He could hardly even believe it. He wrapped his arms around her, hugging her back as tightly as he dared hold her, lest he squeeze or hurt her. "I'll never let you out of my sight again. I promise I will protect you." Nearby, a small package floated down, dropped off by a drone. A gift from a sponsor. Inside the package was a note, with nothing on it but a winky-face emoticon, signed Wilson. Underneath the note was a box of tissues.- 209 replies

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Dam put his back to the inevitable bloodbath at Cornucopia, making his way as fast as he could towards the woods, jumping and wincing with each successive cannon blast to indicate each death. He would close his eyes and pray, dreading the one name to be listed off. Melinda's name never came. He breathed a sigh of relief. He always knew she was smarter than that. Now he just needed to find her and do everything in his power to keep her safe. The sun was setting as he made his way into the forest, the horizon a deep orange bleeding into a dark red, as if the spilled blood had been cast into the sky instead of the ground. The trees of the forests cast a long shadow, trailing behind them and fading into a pure darkness. An unimpenetrable depth, holding dangerous secrets and enemies. He knew he would find Melinda in here. She was always fast and really good at hiding, her petite figure giving her an advantage. He took the small item Kam had slipped into his jumpsuit pocket that he had discovered while in the tube on the way to the arena. A mini-lightbulb, attached to a single small, flat disc shaped battery. It gave off a dim glow, but in the dark woods, that could help make the difference between life and death. It could also be dangerous if seen from a distance, and draw predators -- or other tributes -- towards you. But he would use every advantage he could get to find his way to his sister.... He didn't know if he would ever be able to cope if he failed to protect her. There was no way to break his promise to himself.- 209 replies

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
But since we can't make any attacks on Cycle 1, nobody can attack any of the Mutts tonight, right? And with 10 Mutts, we're guaranteed a 100% of them making an attack this Cycle, unless their attacks count as other attacks in that regard as well? Or is Cycle 1 just going to cornucopia or not, and the only chances of death being a bloodbath?- 209 replies

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"These games change who you are." Dam remembered Wilson's advice, given before he sent her away to tend to Ohm instead. The both of them had decided to let the old veteran in on their nickname. She had survived the crucible that both Dam and Melinda were about to have to endure, so she had earned the right. "Do everything you can to neutralize as many possible threats as soon as possible. It always depends on how things are, down there in the arena. I'm not going to sit here and coach you on what to do, for nothing will ever be certain. I just need to let you know you constantly need to adapt your plans to what is happening, not rely on a static battlefield. Because other people will strike at any weakness they see." It was all good advice. But he had made the plan with his sponsor. He would listen to her, but she had to help Melinda. No matter what. If it came down to it, and if any sponsors could be raised for District 5, Wilson had to do everything in her power to make sure Ohm survived. Wilson had also warned Dam that it wasn't uncommon for the Games to be rigged with Mutts and wild animals. Dam thought about those as he headed towards the woods, hoping beyond hope to get to Ohm before anybody, or anything, else.- 209 replies

Stormlight to Breath Ratio: Official Answer
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I edited the first post to contain the picture, so giving an update on that, and now... on to speculating! As far as quantifying or measuring stormlight, I could maybe imagine somehow a Fabrial being invented that can maybe contain a set amount of stormlight, or someway of measuring the amount of stormlight that it can somehow absorb. I know that's a lot of somehow's. O.o But the idea is, if they can make it a constant amount, they can make that a measuring point. Take fully infused spheres -- fresh out of a highstorm -- and see how much stormlight they contain. Do this a repeated number of times to see if you can get base results. Then from there you can possibly start measuring leak rates of spheres as they lose stormlight. See if it's a constant amount over time. Does the size of the sphere affect decay rate, or do larger gems simply last longer because they have more stormlight? As for Cosmere questions, we can maybe expand on, if Stormlight is the same as Breath and Mists, as in they are in the form of air or gases, then the jerryrigging for making Stormlight work for Mists could possibly work the same as well, yes? Would Vasher have found it easier to live on Scadrial if he lived or went there before the mists were removed?- 35 replies

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Dam tried to keep his breath and his nerves steady as the tube slowly raised him up into the arena -- the battlegrounds for this year's Hunger Games. "AND MAY THE ODDS FOREVER BE IN YOUR FAVOR!" The final words of luck and encouragement echoes throughout the field as Dam wildly looked around, trying to catch a glimpse of Melinda. He had to find her. To see her and hold her one last time. To let her know her big brother was there, and everything would be alright. Knowing it would eventually cost him his own life, he would make sure she won. He just wanted to be able to tell her how proud of her he was one last time. He knew he would no longer see her smile. The Capitol had already seen to that by crushing her childhood and killing her innocence by putting her her in this bloodbath. He felt his anger grow within him, and fed off of that reserve, giving him the strength to do what he must. He turned away from the cornucopia, showing his intentions of heading towards the river, and then the forest beyond it. He knew Ohms had always found trees fascinating -- due to the lack of them in District 5 -- and he would most likely find her there. With all of the power plants, energy lines, and the giant dam, there just wasn't much room for beautiful things like trees and nature. Perhaps that was why she always was drawn to them, he wondered. Because she understood the loneliness of being something beautiful and bright in an otherwise bleak, stark world.- 209 replies

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Dam sat with his back straight and his chin held high as he regarded the crowd in front of him, half-blinded by the glare of all the lights focused on him at the moment. The crowd. The faceless, restless crowd. Never happy enough, always wanting more, cheering, watching, waiting. He suppressed a shiver, remembering where he was before finally answering the question he was asked. "What do I like about the Capitol?" Nothing, he almost said, but remembered where he was again and smiled instead. "The air is just so clean!" He took in a deep breath to demonstrate. "I never even noticed until I came here!" He was going to appear strong and confident. Not for his sponsors. Not for his chances of survival. But for his sister. The interviewee was a light-hearted fellow, obviously meant to help keep the tributes at ease leading up to the Games. And another big fat photo op for the Capitol, a reminder to all of the families still intact -- at home and watching on their televisions -- that it could have been them, but instead they get to watch a show. This year. But Dam didn't say any of that or let it show, of course. He bantered on with the guy, talking about how big the dam back at home really was -- which led to a confusing segment where somebody either said his name or swore, or maybe both or neither -- talking about his duties back at home and general nonchalant conversation. The guy was alright, but he could have had used a little bit more flair. Eccentricity. Dam at one point almost randomly suggested that the interviewee paint his hair a radical color, like orange or something. And then he asked the question everybody was waiting for. The question Dam was trying to avoid being asked.... "Uhm, what about your sister?" The lights and cameras spun into the corner, where Lil' Ohms was trying to shrink back into the shadows, away from the attention. He of course wasn't going to call her that. Not here. Not in front of everybody and publicized on television for the whole world to see. That was her special nickname, just for the two of them. "I mean.... what can one say? What are the freak odds, the first year she's in the drawing? And then the two of us? Obviously it's just some sort of cruel joke." Dam winced at his slip-up, as he let his resentment show in his voice there at the end. The interviewee just stared at him for a moment -- is that pity or sympathy I see in his eyes? Does it matter? -- and then hastily segued to a commercial before calling up the next tribute for their time in the spotlight, who happened to be Melinda. Dam sighed. Kam was going to be furious. They never got around to talking about the outfit he had worn, a sleek, fashionable jumpsuit, reminiscent of the style of District 5 power plant uniforms. It was black and cut comfortably, with orange and other vibrant, hot colors for trimming, to emit a sense of power and electricity coursing through it. It even lit up if he pressed a certain button. Dam had suggested the sound of a dam breaking and water rushing out to play, as some sort of grand entrance or exit type of thing, but Kam immediately shut it down as a little too.... slanderous. And in bad taste. He walked over to Melinda and gave her a big hug. "Your time to shine, Ohms."- 209 replies

Stormlight to Breath Ratio: Official Answer
Gamma Fiend replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is where Sizgil was smashing his head into a chasm wall, trying to figure out how to measure stormlight. How much of a difference does the size of the gem in the middle matter for how much stormlight there is? What about the leak-rate of stormlight? How can we measure how much stormlight a sphere loses over time? I was kind of hoping to get a number for the Ratios, but figured that was way too much to actually expect, because if we could get a solid ratio number, then that would really help understand the differences between other forms of Investiture. Also, I do fear that we may need to find a way to quantify stormlight before we can even try getting a number for breath equivalent. So we need to start determining what type of Units we want to measure stormlight in. (I have seen a couple discussions about this going on already, but since this thread is sort of related, I wouldn't mind if the conversation continued spilling over in here. @Blaze: That's a good interpretation of what Brandon might mean there. It would make sense that a majority of the Investiture would end up getting used or wasted in the conversion process of turning it from Stormlight into Breaths. I guess the question I should have asked was how much Stormlight does Zahel need to consume every week to stay alive.- 35 replies

So last month, I ordered a signed & personalized copy of Way of Kings off of Brandon's site, and I asked my question I've been wondering since the release of WoR: Q: "What is the ratio of Stormlight to Breath?" I received the book in the mail today and I have an answer! (Or most of one) A: "Much more Stormlight, but most can't be used." So it's nice to know that it requires "much" more Stormlight than breath for the Ratio, and the 'most can't be used' part seems to me like he's referring to spheres. Which also could make sense, as I doubt chips or clearmarks or what have you would be quite sufficient. I'm thinking at least Broams or maybe even Gemhearts! O.o Of course, Broams or other highest-denomination spheres would seem most plausible, for Zahel being able to constantly stay refilled on stormlight. Unless he's just going off slaying chasmfiends during his free time. >.< Edit: And the book is a First Edition! I requested for it, but didn't think they would still have any! Nifty! Edit 2: Added picture!

Quick Fix Game 5: The Hunger Games!
Gamma Fiend replied to Peng the Just's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Dam knew he wasn't the brightest bulb in the district -- and District 5 had a lot of lightbulbs -- but he still couldn't fathom how him and his sister ended up getting chosen. He was of course going to Offer himself anyways, as soon as she was chosen, but that didn't stop him from nearly having to change his jumpsuit when he was actually picked. Their mother had fainted immediate as soon as he was called and everybody realized what had happened, and before they could do anything else, him and Melinda were swept away onto the platform to be gawked at. Like sheep at a prize show before they are sent to the slaughter house. Their mother never came before their trained departed. Either she never regained consciousness, or she couldn't force herself to come say goodbye. Everything changed on the train in; however, that was when they met Wilson. ---- Dam watched the rest of the Tributes as they shuffled about in the general meet-and-greet before they showed their skills in the private showings to determine their rankings. Melinda trailed behind him, showing a rare strength in her courage and self control. Dam knew he needed to remain strong for the both of them however. "Just remember Wilson's advice when everything starts," Dam reminded his sister. "She is our mentor, and was obviously cunning and vicious enough to have won at least once, so I'd say listening to her is a pretty good idea." She certainly seemed the devious type to him. He knew he didn't have any skills to speak of, or anything that would put him at even a slight advantage. But he had his determination and his resolve to stick to his one and only goal. Panem would burn to the ground before he let anything happen to his little sister. "Dam, Melinda?" Some mild-mannered, well dressed man approached them, wearing the latest fashions that were popular in the Capitol, but somehow actually pulling it off. "I am Kam, your fashion guru for the Tribute events. I'm not sure how long we have until the ceremonies start, but we'll have to make due with what we have. " He smiled pleasantly, and Dam found himself warming up to the person. Probably the first friendly face he had seen since this whole ordeal had started. Not that Wilson wasn't friendly....it's just that one doesn't win the Hunger Games and have a friendly face.... Kam continued talking. "And what we have is probably the greatest story since the birth of Panem. Insurmountable odds, and a sibling love that refuses to be ripped apart by even the Hunger Games itself! People always speculate how wonderful it would be to have a story of star-crossed lovers somehow forming during one of these annual bouts, but really, how implausible is that? Nobody would want to hear that story. This, however," Kam swept his arms in front of him, gesturing to both Dam and Melinda, "is a story that will sell. People will love this. And with the theme of District 5, I will make sure you light up the night, and the audience's hearts!"- 209 replies
