Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There should be a way to code in the colors you want to change it to with text, but I'm not sure what they are. Other players might though. Also, if you can't get that, just leave a note on your posts with votes requesting a Mod to change the color of your votes for you if you won't be able to get on and change them yourself, but try not to rely on this if you can.- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well dang, I can just not make any RP work for this guy! I really am way too young at heart to be RPing an old person! XD I give up and will just spend my time on better efforts, like actual game analysis. Nalthis has been relatively silent, which isn't too surprising since I highly doubt too much information is being shared on the worlds just yet, but I am wary of how much seems to be being shared in PMs and being alluded to here in the thread, because those are just more clues for the eliminators to work from. The activity back and forth with Clanky and Snoopy definitely merits keeping an eye on for right now, because Clanky does seem like they might have been digging for information. Although I'm not sure what Snoopy's hints that he keeps dropping are to accomplish either. But I'm just going to put a vote on Clanky for right now to tie it up between the three of them for now.- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
With what somebody else already brought up, I think the Witness role works as in they just have to activate their power, and they automatically find one of the killers. And I was surprised that the Witness held off last night, honestly, if the power works like that. But they could just be inactive or waiting until they can build up a circle of trust/protection. Also, I kind of figured there was only the one kill last night because the OCs are trying to find the Witness, and won't risk having Odium exposed until they find a way to take the Witness out. Again, this is assuming we have the right understanding of this role. O.o Because how I've been reading Investiture is that they had to have been active to Invest in an OC to make a kill, so that could possibly mean somebody who was inactive during the night cycle. I'm still not exactly who to vote for myself, yet, but I do agree that we will need to start using our lynch eventually, and the longer we delay, the less information we will gain. (Even if I did read your vote as being a little over aggressive there) ;-)- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, looking back, I can kind of see why Peng was looking a little suspicious, with his retaliation vote and blatantly asking for Investiture like that, but yeah, it is a surprise to see Cultivation to force the lynch like that. But we know that they are in fact a Villager, thanks to the safe roles, so it just looks like a mislynch! (which isn't the first time we've had one of those!) I do kind of agree that publicly discussing who Cultivation might be is probably not the best idea, but honestly, with the information and clarifications from Joe, that list is only narrowed down to 27 whole possible candidates. XD So while we shouldn't really bother trying to find the identity of Cultivation, we can still speculate about why the used their powers when they did. And not only thing, now that we know they are active (sending in orders), we can further promote discussion to giving them better targets to use on the lynches when we need it. But this is all besides the point of what I wanted to talk about with this post. I really think we're missing an opportunity here, guys. If this can be used every night, can't we basically track down Odium within a matter of cycles with this Role? Especially if Ruin isn't performing any kills, any killer the Witness finds is basically going to be a 50/50 chance of being Odium if two kills happened. If only 1 happened, and it wasn't a shattered shard, then we know it was the invested kill. Either way, this Role basically has a built-in auto-reveal mechanic! So, the killers learn the identity of the Witness, so what? That just means the Witness has no reason to not declare what they learn! They'll be fairly safe from lynches, unless the OCs try to perform some sort of counterclaim to get us to mislynch, but either way, we'll then be able to track down a killer from there. Which, if Ruin isn't usking their Kill, then there should only be 2 kills a night, from Odium and who they invest, leaving a 50/50 chance of finding Odium. The witness declares who the killer is, if it's Odium, Endowment can confirm they are a shardholder, and then lynch Odium. This would leave Endowment and Witness to need to be protected at night, but if the Witness can be kept alive, then we can just keep finding the killer every night cycle. After Odium is killed, and then the player that they last invested is killed, do the OCs lose the ability to night-kill? Edit: It was blue. You saw nothing.- 929 replies

Bahaha! Yeah, if the rule went through as is in the game, if I were the Librarians, I would just censor the storm out of the thread, and hide every single post! And I'm not sure if that'd be allowed for a game or not anyways. Because Mods are allowed to see hidden posts regardless, so Fair Plays would definitely come into play. And then that'd give the advantage on to who can get on first or the fastest to hide/post/see things. I like the rest of the game though, and the concept of the Librarians being able to 'control information' sounds great! Maybe they can hide things from being revealed in the write-ups, like an alignment on death, or information received via GM, like the nonsense speaker, or something. There's lots of potential there, I like it!

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gramps listened to the young fools bicker back and forth over proposed plans and suggestions -- he of course had heard the same arguments countless times before -- one didn't live as long as he had without getting mixed up in these hassles sooner or later. The circumstances might have just been different. "I've said it once and I'll say it again." Gramps huffed, with the full indignity of somebody who gets no respect, "The Cosmere is going to The Void these days." "Seems like all these young scallywags just want to take control, with their loud voices and their fancy Investitures. I tell you what, back in my day, whoo buddy, we'd have you all whipped into shape so fast it'd make your head spin." He continued to rant and rave back towards his house, and his precious lawn. He even had a segment of it portioned out to be covered with soot and ash, with weak, brown foliage struggling to peak through. He even used a lantern filled with ruby broams casting it's red light down onto the patch, to give it a more homely feel. OOC: Bah, RP'ing a grumpy old man is a lot harder than I thought it would be! >.> As far as the plan goes, I thought it was sounding pretty good at first, but seeing all of the discussion after getting home from work, I realized one thing: I really need to re-read the rules about three more times. >.< There is definitely a lot of possible interactions to take into account, and it will definitely end up getting chaotic, which is where the OCs(?), Team Rayse(?) will try and take advantage of the confusion. So we definitely need to make sure most things are figured out (and all the Shards are on board) before any sort of big reveal happens. Because that does lead into then past game scenarios, where just a few people basically take control of the entire game, just commanding players to obey or die basically. While, when the game deals us that hand with how the roles interact, it has led to tension in the past. So if we do end up going that route, we should tread carefully. (And remember it's just a game and have fun!) One thing I've been thinking is, how do all of the Shards get ahold of Endowment, to let them know they are okay with the plan? Or what they find? Endowment at least knows who the Shards are, so they can just keep an eye on them until then, and try and see how they're reacting to things in the thread, and see where they go from there. As far as the WorldbaseTM plan, it sounds pretty solid, and agreed with it in the Nalthis group when it was proposed there. The thing I've been wondering is, how balanced are the world populations right now? We have 5 of us right now there, so if all the other worlds are around the same, the plan should definitely work to keep the amount of manipulation the OCs can manage down to a minimum. And if there are worlds that all players get found to be safe on, then they can start working together in there even if we end up losing Cultivation eventually.- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gramps awoke with a sore back and stiff bones. His knees were swollen and his joints ached and cracked when he moved. Such was the price of getting as old as he was. At least the weather was nice, even if the tropical weather of T'Telir was a little too humid for his tastes sometime. Still beat storming ash and rusting highstorms. And it was nice to be able to have a fire whenever he wanted to, to keep the chill out of his bones. He wondered idly how many kids he'd have to yell to keep off his lawn today. He considered getting a pair of axehounds to keep in the yard, but was getting too old to take care of them. He peered outside through the windows at the rush of activity outside in the streets, as everybody ran around like Hoid with his head cut off, trying to figure out what in the sparks was going on. Whole Cosmere is going to the Void, he thought again. "Seems like we have to learn the rules of the game we are playing, and simply need to play them better than anybody else." It was a wise quote he had heard a long time ago. You picked up on tidbits of information like that when you were around for as long as he was. He was just worried that Odium and his buddies weren't going to be playing fair this time around. Eh, not much new to go on yet. Seems like general consensus for a no-lynch drive today, as we really need to gather more information and garner more suspicions. But we should continue discussing the rules and the ways to best trap or trick the eliminators. Seems like discussing what worlds we are in, at least for this cycle, is rather harmless, as Odium and Co. didn't have any coordination beforehand or anything when deciding where to start, so there's not too much to go off there yet. Also, how many of them do you think we're working with this time around? How many players are in this one, 28, 29? There do seem to be quite a few protective roles as well, so that might make the numbers a little different than standard.- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Heh, I'm at just as much as a loss as you right now, Eol. I usually tend to not do too much in depth analysis of roles and interactions until games start, so I haven't come up with very much at all yet. I still have to compile a Player ListTM! O.o It does look like we will be able to use some of the roles and Shards to find and trap Odium and his champs. And since it looks like we're still doing the poke votes, what say ye, Bort? (Since you are also currently viewing the thread, and that's why Elo poked me, I assume) [Will add some RP later when I have some time to get settled from work. ] Edit: Retracted vote. Poke votes don't seem to be accomplishing much at the moment.- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gramps sat on his porch in his rocking chair, puffing on his pipe of tobacco, and contemplating his course of action. One never got to live his long without making plans. And back-up plans. He was staring at the small Spiritual Soothing Sand Circle he had designed many a years ago. It didn't serve any actual function, just made him feel good. The sand in the pit was a pure, brilliant white colour, in a square patch bordered with some form of exotic wood. Inside the circle, drawn in the sand, were complex geometric designs. Symbols and sources of power, if you were in the right place. Might be time to go to friendlier weathers. Nalthis is always a welcoming climate. He thought to himself. The storms on Roshar just made his bones ache, and he was going to avoid Threnody for as long as he could help it. @Aonar: Heh, we'll have to see. With all this worldhopping, who knows what will happen!- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gramps thought he heard a lingering whisper on the wind, telling of things to come. No, a promise. He turned up his hearing aide and cocked his head to listen. What he heard sent a shiver of fear down his spine. Storming rusty colours! He cursed. Surely he must be mistaken. There's no way Nightblood, of all sparking things would be included in what was to come. Maybe this is a little bit more serious than I earlier predicted, he frowned. In all of his many long years, he had never made it a habit of underestimating what he was getting into. That old lizard would be amused, he chuckled to himself.- 929 replies

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gramps twitched his nose, ruffling his peppered-gray mustache as he rooted around one of his cloaks many secreted pockets. One could never have enough pockets. He mentally reminded himself. ....And knives. He added on at the end. He wasn't always a fan of knives or weapons, and preferred to use his words and logic whenever possible -- he was too old to be getting into any kind of fights -- but his many years had taught him equally as many important lessons. And extra pockets and knives were the Top 2. But there was going again, letting his mind wander. He remembered what he was looking for and pulled out a pinch of the firemoss he always kept handy. Nasty habit, that. He sighed in relief as the wisps of smoke rose from his fingers, and he took another look around his yard at all the newcomers. He had made it a habit to sit out on his porch, sitting in his rocker, watching all the newcomers and young rascals causing all of their trouble and noise. His garden was immaculate. He didn't even need any Breaths of Heightenings to achieve perfect beauty with it. Any sod could plant a beautiful floral arrangement with the right amount of care and dedication. But no. It was like these scallywags to rely on Inestiture first, and make up with wit and grace later. Just as long as they stayed off his lawn, he didn't really pay much attention to them anyway. Darn kids...- 929 replies

Yeah, we actually have WoB that Harmony is technically the strongest thing in the Cosmere, simply for the fact that he holds Two Shards. But since the two Intents he holds are diametrically opposed (Ruin + Preservation), he is very limited in what he can actually do, lest he upset the 'balance'. And also, Odium is scared of Harmony and the power he holds. (Which could be incentive enough for him to try and shatter/kill him, eventually)

Long Game 10: A Game of Shards
Gamma Fiend replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Gramps had been around the Cosmere for a long time, and he had made it a habit of doing so. Some of those who knew him even liked to tease him and call him 'Ancient'. If those whippersnappers only had any idea.... Of course, he was getting ahead of himself. His mind was prone to wander in his own age.... not that he had to worry about aging and it's effects, per se, but once you lived for as long as he had, you just started to view yourself a certain way. And he knew enough that perception was enough to make a difference. So he let out a groan, and bent over a little at the waist, putting most of his weight on his trusty walking stick, easing the burden on his back. "Now listen up here, you rascals. Back in my day, we had to walk sixteen yolen-meters just to get to the nearest source of Investiture! And we sure didn't need all the flash and flair you youngsters need nowadays, with your metal and colors, and glowing auras! I tell you, the whole Cosmere is going to the Void these days." If there was one thing Gramps had made a habit of, that was rambling and lecturing. In at least 6 or 7 languages. He may have forgotten one or two of them, but he still had vacation homes on any planet he desired to visit. A man his age deserved a good retirement every now and again. And he was Ancient, after all. I AM FREEEEE! -Er, I mean, yay, Gamma is back and ready for action! And this time as an Old Man!- 929 replies

My 'aluminum-foil hat' theory with Bloody Tan in the beginning of Alloy of Law was that something had interfered or influenced the outcome of Wax accidentally shooting Lessie. It could just be the POV bias of Wax not believing Tan was able to move that fast, or maybe it's as simple as Bloody Tan knowing that Lessie and Wax had that move, and anticipated it...... But I've always thought it'd be deliciously cruel, but plausible, for Harmony to have slightly interfered, knowing that Lessie's death would have driven Wax to go back to the cities to take up his house duties, and thus being there to stop Miles and what all else was going on in Elendel. (One life vs. the lives that Wax & Wayne end by stopping them, or at least hindering them).everything

I've usually always done random Space or Science pictures, either awesome looking cosmological structures, or otherwise cool looking stuff of that theme. ....that being said, I've had the cover art for WoR as my desktop ever since the final version for the book was revealed.... (so like 2-3+ months before it came out...) XD I've been currently contemplating what I would want as a new one. (Probably going to go space-theme again)

Yeah, I only saw the event when randomly looking through the event calendar at my local Barnes & Nobles. Does look like he seems to just do a few local book signings for his releases, and that's about it. I can't wait to meet him, as I've heard he's an extremely nice and friendly guy! Also, I do believe I had a few questions that I meant to ask him about the Books, but that was pre-Book 2. So I may have to reread the first two real quick and see what I can come up with. (In the true nature of 17th Shard Theorizing/Speculation. ) -

It looks like Book 3 is slated for release relatively soon (you sure can tell he's Sanderson's student, he's nothing if not prolific!) February 14th, he'll be at the Barnes & Nobles in Mentor, OH, and that is definitely close enough for me to make it I should basically all but be there! I'll of course get a signed copy of The Autumn Republic, but I may even ask him to sign my copy of Mistborn! Signing other authors books seems to be a fun hobby of theirs. (I'm looking at you, Patrick Rothfuss) -
Yeah, it has been a bummer to watch all the International fans be unable to back this project for less than $120. You DO get (6) Sets of Dice when you do, though! So lots of people have been going in with a group of friends to help split up the cost, or a few managed to get their local gaming stores to fund the project. Less than $3k to the 3rd Exclusive Dice though! Brandon Sanderson once again with the clutch retweet/facebook update! Edit: 2 dice my votes = Lerasium + Electrum 3rd would probably be Duralumin. Never actually considered that a possibility! O.o

Sazed would be disturbed by your lack of Faith. I honestly didn't expect to reach this point either though! Can't wait to use these bad boys... (In Summer...) But I will totally start using them for rolls in my Elimination games!
