  1. Heh, this is the only forum I've actually done RP on, and exclusively for the Elimination games. I have also posted a small, unfinished segment of Fanfiction I wrote based off of the first.... wait for it.... Elimination game that was run on these forums! If you want to check out a sample of non-RP writing of mine -- In the Wake of the Koloss: A Short Story It seemed to get positive feedback at the time when I posted it.... and I swear I mean to finish it one of these days....
  2. I might be interested in joining this, actually. Never played the MAG before yet, although I recently got the book and have been reading through it, preparing to try and run a game for my friends to get them into Mistborn. So this will be interesting to have an opportunity to play as a player, so I can get that experience first. I've never used the Roll20 site or anything before, but it looks rather nifty and will be interesting to check out! I have some RP established in the Sanderson Elimination forums as well. Here's my first write-up for my Wheel of Time based Elimination game. I'll also post some sample RP in here, after thinking of some possible characters.
  3. If there's need for more money to possibly be circulating, I'm not sure how much there might be depending on peak game activity, but maybe add it so most Roles earn 1 money by doing their jobs Or even charge the people they use the powers on?? So it wouldn't even be adding more money to the circulation, it'd just spread the love around some more? Like the Guards rifle through their Detainees' belongings, stealing a money from them, or a Retrophrenologist charges their client for their services? Does the Beggar get anything special from having the most money, or it just more of a personal goal? If so, then perhaps they can be paid off to be left alone by players they're trailing? (Player is notified the beggar is following them, has a choice to pay them a fee to sod off and not learn their Role?) Does the Fool's reshuffle change any of the converted cultists? Or is Cult basically Alignment at that point, and not a Role? Do all Roles belong to Guilds, or just Thieves, Beggars, Seamstresses, etc? Loving the game design though! I've never read any of the books myself yet (I know, blasphemy...) but this definitely paints an interesting picture of the series! Nice job, Wyrm!
  4. Heh, I just watched a video from the person explaining Tau from a few years ago! Nice to see they're still at it! I only know Pi to 3.14159 off top of my head, and I generally hate doing math anyways. I appreciate math, and all it's fancy awesomeness, but just generally will leave it to those who enjoy it!
  5. A hushed excitement fell over the crowd as the chaos in the battleground had slowly settled down and all became silent, but deadly forces worked together in the shadows for promise of more death and bloodshed to come. Figgldygrak struggled alone in the crowd, far separated from even those It was supposed to call allies. Even the helpful voices that had been whispering advice and friendship had fallen silent, and Figgldygrak had began to suspect those voices were not to be trusted. When the whole world was figgldygrak, one couldn't even trust their own gibletish-addled brain. As the days passed, Figgldygrak's brutish thoughts grew increasingly hostile and savage, in turn warping it even further into a monstrous beast. Translucent, green acid began to ooze from the scrapes and cuts Figgldygrak had suffered in it's troubles, leaving it's skin blistered and bubbling where the rivulets ran down it's leathered, calloused skin. It's haunting laugh becoming even more demented and psychotic, booming and echoing unnaturally loud, as if a chorus of demonic voices had joined together in a symphony of destruction. "I AM FIGGLDYGRAK!!!"
  6. Well it seems like I have no reason to not vote for Mailliw, as he no longer has some silly ultimatum to hold over my head. >.< I was surprised at how quickly players were cowed into retracting votes for somebody like that, effecting bowing to a threat like that. [Please note: When I think of terms of 'threat' or 'bully' in the case of what Mailliw is doing, I think of it in terms of in-game, his character is more or less making these offers/threats. Of course none of this should be being taken personally]
  7. It didn't take long for the true nature of the contestants to shine as the Games quickly progressed from polite smiles and hidden daggers to bared teeth and outright hostilities. Personal agendas outweighed cross-faction grudges and the battle lines blurred quickly in a matter of days. In the midst of the chaos and paranoia, Figgldygrak walked across a battle field, not one that was littered with corpses -- at least not yet-- but instead the air weighed heavy under the weight of political sabotage and secret back-workings of manipulation and subterfuge. It wandered with no particular destination or intent; an aimless monster without purpose. Beneath the black pools of it's eyes, a dark and endless expanse stared back out, void of any reason or logic, the smoldering spark of life barely recognizant. "I AM Figgldygrak." It repeated to itself, slowly becoming aware to it's sense of self. Figgldygrak lumbered on, alone with it's thoughts until it came across an old wooden bridge. "Halt!" A voice rang out from beneath the bridge, stopping Figgldygrak in it's tracks. "If you want to cross the bridge, you have to pay the Toll."
  8. The Games had begun in earnest, bringing with them the frenzied enthusiasm of the crowd as they watched on, eager for the spectacle of bloodshed and betrayal. Somewhere in the ruined city, however; the battles had started prematurely in a random abandoned building on a nondescript street way off out of the center of attention. The blaring of the megaphone over the loud speakers drowned out the shattering sound of glass as Keira dove through the window, and her string of curses that followed rendered inaudible. Figgldygrak let out a roar of frustration that mixed with the din of the chaos in the hallway and the fading echo from the announcements, creating a deafening cacophony. The Spike Eyed One cried out in pain and their hands flew up to cover their ears and they fell to their knees, the loud noises seeming to affect them more than it normally should, so Figgldygrak took advantage and ran past them with a lithe speed that betrayed it's monstrous size. Within a few seconds, Figgldygrak had made it to the window and hopped through without hesitation, it's giant size breaking through the rest of the window and it's frame. Splinters of wood and shards of glass rained down as It landed on it's feet on the ground below, leaving a modest sized crater and kicking up a large cloud of dust in the air, temporarily obscuring it's vision. The air settled in a few moments, but Figgldygrak just stared around confused, grunting in frustration at the lack of glowing footprints for it to follow. It went to start dashing off in a random direction, charging headlong blindly, bellowing in rage, taking random twists and turns in the city, venturing deeper into the labyrinth of crisscrossed streets, foot-walks, and alleyways. Figgldygrak stumbled maladroitly around a corner, smashing into a random person, sending them sprawling to their feet. Figgldkygrak stumbled for a second, but recovered before the jittery man whose eyes were bloodshot and had a strung out look to them. Figgldkygrak roared and raised it's fist but stopped as a voice suddenly cut through into his mind. "GIBLETISH, STOP!" A vaguely familiar voice, speaking in a commanding tone. But Gibletish was not It's name. "I AM FIGGLDYGRAK!" It roared back in defiance. "Glibetlish, Grak, Gandalf, I don't care what you call yourself, but you're supposed to find allies, not kill everything you see. Now get to work, I have a lot of Space Cash riding on this game." Figgldygrak let out another shout of frustration, "GRAK!" Then Figgldygrak dropped the terrified man it was still holding, and awkwardly lumbered away, disappearing back into the shadows of the city.
  9. Well as it stands right now, with 29 players, depending on how troll-y Alvron is feeling, we could likely be expecting 4 teams of 7 each, and a Serial Killer. (because we all know Alvron would pick including SK over Hoid) But, that's not accounting for any possible GM Troll levels that can't be calculated at this time.
  10. Yeah, you kind of killed our whole Odious approach to getting the villagers uncomfortable with the Shard Coalition, as we were trying to play up the whole 'villagers are now useless' argument! XD Of course your posts showed merit to the idea that that's just a silly way of thinking!
  11. "Figgldy?" The burly creature asked, perplexed by the pair of newcomers that had rushed in front of it, as it seemed to contemplate what to do next. It decided. "Grak!" It cursed, swinging it's large lumbering arm, trying to knock them out of it's way. The spike-eyed one jumped out of the way, carried smoothly along a graceful line of trajectory, easily dodging the anticipated attack. Figgldygrak opened it's mouth, and everybody covered their ears, anticipating the loud, barbaric yawp. Instead, there was a choking sound as It appeared to have something caught in it's throat. Then suddenly, wild chalking creatures began to pour out from the monster's mouth, crawling and scampering over each other and down It's front and pooling on the floor. Their jagged, roughly drawn shapes and figures matching the grotesque nature of their arrival and origin. The monster let out another roar. "Figgldygr-achk!" It coughed at the end of it's yell, choking on and spitting out one last straggling chalking. There was nothing more terrifying than the deep, rumbling maniacal laugh that followed. It was devoid of any reasoning or logic, and had a ring of madness to it that pierced the ear drums and haunted the minds of those who heard it. Figgldygrak was truly a creature of nightmares.
  12. The bustle of activity filled the air as contestants scattered to and fro, feeling out their environment and competition and slowly adjusting to the situation. There would be the occasional low-humming whir signifying the approach one of the many camera drones as they made their way around the arena, seeking out the players and highlighting the spectacles for the crowds enjoyment. The monstrous Figgldygrak slowly worked his way through the ruined city, lumbering through the debris and refuse, it's hulking form seeming to prevent it from moving too quickly. Each action was carried out with a slow deliberation, as any primal or instinctual thought had to work it's way through the miring labyrinth of it's potpourri-scrambled mind. But it did have a destination. Figgldygrak slowly made it's way up a set of stairs in an old, abandoned building. There was no dust, but It still followed a set of dimly glowing footsteps. It reached the landing at the top of the stairs, and It's giant shadow fell over one of the other contestants who was huddling in the shadows in the corner of the room. "I am Figgldygrak!"
  13. Heh, the Doc actually mostly died off around cycles 4 or 5, and we were already around 100 or so at that point. XD Like Wilson said, that ain't got nothing on the Urbain Inquisition. But yes, excellent game, Joe! Definitely loved the whole flavor and concept behind the game, with the Shards v Odium, truly an epic Cosmere showdown! And excellent write-ups, especially this end one! Oh and yes, Meta's betrayal! Mwahaha! We basically knew by a few cycles in that we needed some outside edge, and once Meta was revealed as Survival, we had no problem letting him live to help us out! (Even if we didn't tell him who all of us were and kept a *couple* plans and motivations back from him at first -- just in case)
  14. Is there a cap on how many PMs a player can request? Per cycle? What about if the same people get requested to be put in the same PM together? Say for instance... 10 people request Wilson and Aonar be put in PMs together, would that make 10 separate PMs? *Ahem* Not giving any ideas here.....
  15. Are we allowed to request other people be put in PMs together? (I request that Aonar and Wilson be put together in a PM, for instance)
  16. The cameras zoomed about the dilapidated city, catching all of the angles and dramatic scenes, as all of the Contestants entered the giant arena one by one. There were many crowd favorites and the betting sessions has been intense, with the odds fluctuating wildly as speculation and fervor began to grow. But then one entered, and all fell silent. A hulking mass of a man, standing a few heads taller than most, eclipsing the sun when he stood, stitched and sewn together out of misshapen, rough-hewn parts. A large head with a wild mane of shaggy black hair, that hid most of the facial features, except for a handful of jagged scars peeking out from the less shadowed areas, and cold, lifeless eyes that stared out of the depths. His left arm was massive and hung at his side, as if too heavy to keep it lifted, with the blue skin hanging in loose folds, getting tight and starting to rip, exposing the bloody red flesh up near the biceps. His right arm was the color of pale grey dead flesh, and was thin and nimble, with quick dexterous fingers. His torso was stout and wide, his chest and stomach exposed, revealing many more scars and countless stitches. It was wearing faded camo pants, both of his bare feet sticking out at the bottom, one of them a twisted, scaly claw. The creature stepped forward and took in a deep breath. "I AM FIGGLDYGRAK!!!!" It roared, breaking the silence. ------------- Up in the Promoter's booth, Gambles gave a content smile. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you -- Figgldygrak! Just a reminder, wagers are only open for a little while longer. Place your bets!"
  17. Heh well thanks for all the feedback and discussion! And all for a disputed mechanic ruling! While I did initially want to run it like I originally said, Wilson did point out it's inherent flaw (which I'd like to think I would have eventually noticed..... ) so it'd either be an infinite loop, or could potentially end the game in one night. (Highly unlikely of course, but no need to make things even bloodier!) Even with people Protecting others from lynches or potential kills, it'd still keep the total of 2 deaths every cycle, so the pace of the game should be plenty quick enough!
  18. This would happen..... (Triple Oblivion Ring infinite loop, ends game in a Draw) So yes, good point. So to prevent hard, nerf my previous ruling and make it so that players that players Sacrificing themselves can't be protected. Good spot, Wilson!
  19. Heh, I'll take that as a compliment. The motivation behind the game is the idea to try and make a game as simple as possible, making it a throwback to the Original Mafia shell. But I wanted to give it a Sanderson Twist of course, so Nalthis presented the perfect opportunity for that with the Returned. To fit in that twist though, I had to nix all Roles, so there'd be no information that could be gained that can be absolutely trusted, forcing all players to think more critically, and not relying on power roles or anything else to pave the way to victory for them. And the Returned dying instead still would keep the kill counts the same for each cycle, not delaying the pace of the game at all. I like the idea of all players having the option to use the Returned power too, because that should be rather interesting. In some games, when there are a lot of power roles, there are either a few vanillas, who can sometimes start to feel left out of the center of activity, that or it's Role Madness, and then it's just a storming tough time to balance. XD Oh, and seeing what type of Returned characters people will come up with on here? I'm rather excited for it! Game Clarification: Player A is being lynched. Player B protects Player A, and Player C protects Player B. Player C would die.( I rule it this way because it will be much more amusing, I think, as players try and scramble to figure out the chain of protection! XD)
  20. "What happens to a man if you take him apart and put him back together? What about if you make that man better, by taking parts that are stronger and putting them back in instead? What do you get?" "Figgldygrak." "Figgldygrak it is then." Sign me up for this game! This should definitely be interesting! Seems how this game is all Figgldygrak, so shall I be as well! (I'll try come up with some better RP later. XD)
  21. Just came up with this game before going to bed, think it has any merit? If so, sign me up to the QF GM List! The Courts of Halladren Standard Quick Fix set on Nalthis, a series of debates and trials to find traitors guilty of treason against the God King. The Returned have been set to task finding the Traitors amongst themselves. 24 hours cycles,, Public Votes, No Roles Infiltrators get one kill per cycle, but do not get to message or contact each other. There is a twist, however. Each player can sacrifice themselves each cycle to protect somebody else from death. If that person would die, you die in their place instead. Each cycle you would send in an Order of who to protect. Traitors can not make a kill and protect on the same cycle. Should be interesting? Edit: I suppose if multiple people protect the same person, random pick of who dies instead??
  22. Well many thanks for Hero for GMing such a great game! And you did a fantastic job of the write-ups, and have definitely piqued my interest in Legion! And mostly, I would like to chalk this win up to most of the other Villagers! XD I honestly didn't do much at all this game, just lightly chatted, tossed a few votes out, and engaged in minimal conversation. (Of course I do think I was always in a room with at least one Nightmare, so that could explain why my initial attempts at discussion didn't warrant too much) But yeah, I didn't do too much in terms of footwork, analysis, or actively helping the Villagers to their win this game, so great job guys! And yeah, this game would have been tricky as a Nightmare Aspect. Especially with the original room based rules, I probably would have waited to make kills when I was a NM as well for the first few nights. I think they did a great job, even if they did get tracked down in quick succession, it was just the nature of how this particular game worked out. Also, The Cryptologist did a great job with all the Info Dumps and letting everybody know what was going on, since that's what was needed for this game for us to work with. And some of those Codes are rather impressive, even if I didn't even bother working with any of them myself. XD I will try and come back later today when I have more time and get some Final Din RP in!
