Definitely just try reading Warbreaker. It's free on Brandon's website. When you've finished, re-read the Zahel sections and it should be pretty clear. There is another massive Warbreaker hint in WoR, so look out for that too. Warbreaker a really good, underrated book. Give it a try.

It's always really bothered me that Parshendi is capitalized when parshmen and listeners aren't. Why do you think Splinter and Sliver should be capitalized? They seem more like general descriptions to me. Though I guess Shard is kind of the same thing.

I must say, I might not like Brandon as much without the cosmere. I shouldn't say that; its not true. Rather, what makes his work special is the connection and all the complexity it requires. Other large universe series to me have always felt like a random thing kind of thrown together. Kind of like "And this guy knows that guy from that book", with no real deeper meaning. Quiver is right, the cohesive story and the way Brandon writes means it will not fall apart.

There is definitely a lot of new stuff in each book. It is just one massive tapestry with every book adding more and more to it. I like Malazan, but I couldn't read just it. Brandon will always be my favorite! So says any fan here, but still.

Yeah, there's not really enough to make anything significant about it yet. At this point anything about larkins is just a hint. If you search back through the books for every little goodie then maybe a theory could be developed. Regardless, I will keep this bit in mind.

I agree somewhat, although The Bonehunters kind of breaks that, what with the battle at Y'Ghatan about a quarter of the way in. That was as good as the ending of any other book, except maybe Memories of Ice. I haven't found the setups to be too boring though. At this point in the series, at least I'm not being introduced to too many new characters per book, and I love a lot of them and can enjoy scenes regardless of how much plot development there is.

Is there an official name for an inhabitant of each Shardworld? These are what I use: Scadrial: Scadrian Roshar: Rosharan Nalthis: Nalthian Sel: ? Yolen: ?

Welcome, Ziggy! Glad to have you here. Was WoR the book that tipped you off to the cosmere?
-
I don't think we have any evidence to suggest she is on Roshar. That's like saying Raoden or Breeze is on Roshar. Just because Vasher and Nightblood ended up there doesn't mean Vivenna did. Yes, she could Return in Nightblood, but other than that we have nothing to go from.

Theory on Unlocking the Other Oathgates.
GreyPilgrim replied to earthboundsyndicate's topic in Stormlight Archive
It has been heavily implied that the others are locked at present. However, I guess this will not remain the case. -
Very nice! You should check out Mistborn and Elantris to get the full cosmere experience!

Gamma, are you going for the Madame Defarge character, because you seem to have nailed it?

This is kind of a late time to ask this, but everyone seems to be assuming this RP is taking place around the same time as Warbreaker, not too long after. Are we running with that assumption? Not that important, just wanted to confirm.
-
I know you can't really make it official, but I am certain Honorspren starts at 1024, because it's 210, and every other power of two is a boundary thus far. I will pay attention to Windy so we can confirm this.

He hasn't been online since Friday, though, so he has missed a ton.

Sorry, this is a newb question: The full topic for this game is locked. Will we just have a different topic for each day/night which then gets merged with the original? I like this better; its easier to navigate.

I don't think it has ever been stated outright. I assume he has none. If he did, they would almost certainly be on the Plains and would have been of great attention to the Kholins. He may have had them once and lost them. Edit: ninja'd by Ketek Ketek: You might want to review forum policy. The mods to not like swearing. A swear filter was recently made, but it clearly doesn't catch the word you used in your last post. I would suggest you edit it out.

Sexist as Alethkar is, I highly doubt it. Highprincess does not have as nice a ring to it. Most likely one of Sadeas's upper nobles will take the princedom.

Yeah, I've been noticing this a lot recently too. It must be related to all the problems the site has been having over the past month. Chaos was able to fix the speed of the site, etc., but this and the fatal error messages when quoting/mousing over users haven't stopped.

You're probably right; she got some interesting development in WoR, and that could definitely be seeding her for more in the future.

I feel like I have never given Warbreaker the credit it deserves. I've only read it once, before I really got into the cosmere, and I honestly didn't love it. I want to give it a reread soon. Looking back, the characters and story are so much better than I thought them on my first readthrough. It's not my favorite of Brandon's books, obviously (Stormlight takes that), but it is a really high-quality fantasy novel with a lot of depth when you look for it. It doesn't get enough love. There are only 67 topics on it here; Stormlight has almost 2000! Although, I think it may get a bit more attention now, due to some recent developments.

You do make a good point. Note, however, that there are still humans on Ashyn, as far as we know. So if some were thrown out of there, why were others left. Thinking about Shards, we know the people of Ashyn gain powers from illness. This doesn't really seem to fit any of the Shards that we know of in Greater Roshar. Definitely not Honor, possibly Cultivation; it is a sort of twisted healing, but its a stretch. Maybe Odium, but there's no real "hate" involved, and why would he keep some people there? with his direct influence, but expel others? Well, we don't know if Ashyn was ever more habitable, so it might not have to be in a habitable zone. The Shards definitely influenced it somehow, though. The Shin refer to the moons as the Three Sisters. It could have something to do with that. This is ridiculous speculation, no evidence whatsoever, but maybe each moon represents a Shard. That is probably not true, since they are "sisters", and Cultivation is the only female Shard on the planet. Another piece of speculation, a bit more informed, that just came to me: What if each planet had a Shard to start. Roshar for Honor, just because. Braize for Odium, because we know he is there now and it is Damnation. Ashyn for Cultivation, because of the literal lack of cultivation there now. Maybe Odium expelled her from Ashyn, making it the way it is not, and trapped her on Roshar, but she somehow Invested herself there. Then he killed Honor, but ended up trapped on Braize.
