  1. I agree with kaellock that the majority of Brandon's readers have an inkling, like there is this guy named Hoid. Overall, though, only a relative few, as stated before, have anything nearing a comprehensive knowledge of the cosmere and all of its facets. Also, even though people may not comment on the site, they may still know a lot; I was one such person, lurking for almost a year before officially becoming a member of the site. In that time, however, I assimilated a fairly complete grasp on the cosmere and the various WoBs that we had on certain things. That said, it is always fun to introduce new people to the cosmere. Particularly now, after WoR, it seems like people who were previously unaware of the deeper connections (i.e. beyond Hoid) are popping up everywhere, likely because of our favorite Nightblood.
  2. I hope 1337 is still the hilarious leet thing!
  3. Thank you very much, RShara! I am about ten times more excited for the arc 2 books than I have ever been! I don't care if Shallan and Kaladin step into the background if we get to see so much of Lift! Also cool to see more of Wyndle; he is the most interesting bonding spren we've seen!
  4. Not really a big deal not filtering hell anyways; it is about the lowest level of profanity.
  5. I don't personally feel that Hoid is something like that, rather that he is an individual who got wrapped up in Adonalsium and the later Shardholders, and Hoid happened to become very powerful by alternate means (traveling to the Shardworlds and obtaining access to their Investitures).
  6. Where did he confirm Lift as a flashback character? I know you're the curator of the WoR tour WoB compilation, so I don't doubt you, but where's the exact quote?
  7. Technically, I said the Green Potato was an inn in my initial post, but we don't need to adhere too strongly to that necessarily.
  8. His duty for the night complete, Grim began his walk home. At this time of night, the streets were riddled with the drunken and the Drab. Grim, of course, was sober for the night; he wouldn't want drink to interfere with his duty. It had been a draining day. So many people had arrived for the peace meeting. Grim couldn't bring himself to care too much about all that was to transpire. Unfortunately, he had been caught up right in the middle of all of it. The meeting was to take place right on his street, the one where the Red Salmon and the Green Potato were. It wasn't that the street belonged to him, but he felt an obligation to it. If he were to guard one establishment on it, it was his duty to make sure the entire street was safe. Some would say Grim took his job too seriously, that he needed to lighten up a bit. He disagreed. Turning a corner, Grim saw that beggar-turned-prophet Rick lying there. Grim felt sorry for the man. Who in his right mind would worship a stick? He tossed Rick a coin regardless. The man stirred, picking up the coin eagerly. "The Stick doth show Its divine gratitude! Thank you, kind sir! You must be a servant of the Stick?" Grim rolled his eyes. "No, I am merely a halfway decent human being. Good night." He moved on. A minute later, walking past Gammer's house, he realized someone was following him. Grim continued on his route; it wouldn't do to show whoever was behind him that he was aware of them. Grim continued home. When he arrived there, he turned around and ran in the reverse direction. His follower, clearly an idiot, was only twenty or so paces behind Grim. Grim could see the man's eyes bug out. It was too late. Grim reached him, pulled out a knife, and drove the man into a wall. "Who sent you?" Grim demanded. "Gaah! The master said--" The man was cut off when another jumped off of the roof of the building above them, right on to Grim. Grim threw him off. The jumper wielded a long-knife. That wouldn't do. Grim leaped on top of the man, crushed ribs, and stabbed into his neck for good measure. He turned around. Great. The first man was gone. Grim didn't want to dispatch the body, but he had to. Couldn't have people claiming him a murderer. He had thought that maybe whoever it was that was trying to kill him would relent during the peace meeting. Apparently not, Grim was not so lucky. Grunting, he collected the corpse and took off down an alley. A draining day indeed.
  9. Grim grunted. That insane poet, Swimim, was coming through, rambling on as was his wont.
  10. I know there's an explanation for that somewhere. It has something to do with his second draft not being a true draft, in the strictest sense of the term. I feel like it only takes a day or two, and that's why it never gets mentioned on the site. That could be horribly wrong, however
  11. "Alas, I am merely the guard of the Green Potato. Don't involve me in your petty disputes, Jeo. Master Clement does not like me to talk to 'Restaurant People'. However, if you must negotiate, I suggest sending Summon with a message. "And, if you do send a message, keep your puns to yourself. They're so bad they could kill a Returned."
  12. The man from the Beggar's Feast: "To Not Know Who One Is"
  13. And there goes an hour of my life...
  14. True, Swimmingly. I agree that the point was not necessarily to encourage people to use the type of language they normally use over what they usually use on the site, but rather to cover up what those ignorant of site policy may say.
  15. Shades are from Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell.
  16. Grim is a guard at the Green Potato, an inn, the owner of which is not too happy about restaurants like the Red Salmon ruining his business. Grim is a most decidedly grim man. His abilities far exceed those normally associated with a simple guard. He is a man of duty, though that means nothing about his morality. Let's just put it, those who cross Grim do not see much more daylight. This is my first game, so I apologize in advance if I don't quite get it at first. I will take the opportunity to scan through some of the past games this weekend to get a better sense of the feel. Looking forward to this!
  17. I agree that Nightblood is, Realmatically, the same thing as a Shardblade. What I wonder, however, is if it can be bonded in the same way as a Shardblade, ie be dismissed and summoned. I would guess not, given that Nalan carried it in a scabbard. I would guess not, given that it is alive, in the same way that Syl and Pattern are alive as Shardbaldes. However, I don't believe it can change form in the same way Syl and Pattern can, because Nightblood is literally a sword given intelligence, whereas bonding spren can take the Physical form of a Shardblade.
  18. Regardless, it looks like I'll be adding Rogues to my ever-growing collection of anthologies.
  19. If you look back in the Way of Kings to the scene where Kaladin talks to Wit about the Wandersail, you will remember that Wit gave his true name as Hoid. If you don't knew about the cosmere yet, check out the Cosmere 101 thread.
  20. You know, I always kind of wish authors would refrain from putting short stories related to their worlds in anthologies. I always want to buy them to get the story, and then feel obliged to read the whole anthology (since they are so expensive) whether I want to or not. I would rather the stories just be put on authors' sites. Sorry, little tangent I had to get out.
  21. I could certainly buy this! I do think that is a cool idea, that every Mistborn trilogy (at least main trilogy) outlines a Scadrial-shattering event. Just like series one posed an end of the world, so can series two. All this makes me wonder... The major threat introduced in our WWII was the atomic bomb... If you are right, could there be a Metallic-Arts-powered atom bomb equivalent? Most likely one coming from the south, with their technological Metallic Arts... If this is all the case, I wonder how Brandon will reveal it all. Will he have the first two books only scratch the surface of the true problem like the first trilogy did, and then reveal the true threat in the last one? I wonder if that will also become a pattern for the Mistborn trilogy. On another note, it will he cool to see Harmony's part in all of this, if there is a conflict between north and south. How will he choose which side to go with? Or will he be the peacemaker, and have to restore harmony to Scadrial? Good food for thought.
  22. Lightflame, everyone knows Szeth is actually the chullchullin in white.
  23. Figured I would post here that the Auri novella has officially been announced! Coming this November! I guess this will have to tide us over until Day 3. Tor.com has more details here.
  24. In all honesty, I've recently started intentionally using Brandon swears in real life as well as one the site.
  25. As much as I love Mistborn, I have no problem having one book be pushed back to make room for a Stormlight books!
