Let me also say that that seems a good plan, Aonar! And since only a couple others commented on it, I think we should definitely lengthen the day. That gives people enough time to really think about their votes and make the best decision possible. Wyrmhero is right that discussion has really only gotten started in the second day. I think that's part of the problem: we're really only getting 24 hours worth of good discussion when we should have 48. Having this one longer day will definitely aid our decisions.

There will be a fifth Alcatraz book, eventually. Brandon has purchased the rights to the series back from Scholastic, who published the other ones. The first four will be republished by Tor, his regular publisher, and he will write the fifth one.

Given that, then I agree with Shardlet that Hoid definitely has far more names, given that he is older, has tons of different personas, and has been to tons of planets. Given Moogle's comment, he has also had a great effect on whole nations/civilizations. So yeah.

Although Vin is a half-breed, so they are potentially more powerful than one may think. Considering that half-breeds are much more likely to be Allomancers than normal skaa, it is still a pretty cool thing to be. Alas, it takes quite a long time to actually become an Allomamcer here.

I am firmly of the belief now that Words of Radiance is Brandon's best work, in terms of the writing being great, the story really sucking me in, and (I think) having his best ending yet. The truth is that The Emperor's Soul is probably his most literary book, and its very accessible, so I may vote for that one in the link.

I think a major difference between the two is that Vasher is a major historical and legendary figure on Nalthis, while we have no idea how Hoid is viewed by his own people. Also, the term "alias" has a slightly different meaning than what I think you are suggesting, it being a name of a persona one has taken. Hoid has a ton of aliases, while Vasher has a lot of names and titles he has been given by people over the years. In the end, I would say Vasher has been known by more names during his life, while Hoid has had more true aliases.

nalesean's Jordancon Signing Report 2014

Thanks, very cool! -
Oh, ok, thank you. (I get a little afraid every time I see that you've quoted one of my posts... No hard feelings, of course. Always good to be well-informed. )

I too loved Axies, and hope we see more of him! However...

nalesean's Jordancon Signing Report 2014
GreyPilgrim replied to Trae Cooper's topic in Events and Signings
I'm pretty sure there's been speculation like that before regarding identity. That being that a Feruchemist with zero identity can make an impersonal metalmind. Did you happen to ask him any questions that he did RAFO? Knowing which questions he prefers not to answer is sometimes actually quite useful. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

You know you're a Sanderfan when you really want to make one of these now. -
Since I was one of those to vote both Chide and Dyrri, I will provide some defense of myself. I voted for Chide first because I agreed with the idea of removing an inactive. An inactive is either Pahn Kahl or not helping the game significantly in either direction. At the time I had no particular suspicions of anyone else who had been voted for and I didn't want to have a tie, so I voted for him. This morning, I woke up to well over a page of posts as well as a message from a player whom I will not name asking me to vote for Dyrri. I didn't have a whole lot of time, and really only gave the posts a couple quick scans to get the gist of what happened while I was away. Seeing that there seemed to be a movement against Dyrri as well as the fact that I had been asked to vote for him, I decided to change my vote while I could. I had more suspicion against him at the time at that point than anyone else who was voted for as well. Unfortunately, my vote against him turned out to be a bad decision. If you look back through the game, you will see that I have yet to lead a vote against someone, have generally been part of bandwagons, and change my vote fairly easily. I see that these things are generally frowned upon, and I will try to avoid them in the future. As I have mentioned several times, I am doing my best to keep up with everything but not doing terribly well. In general, my goal is to keep the game moving. I'm not in a position where I can do much more than vote, so I am trying to do that as much as I can. I had felt that the only way to keep the game moving was to kill people, but I have now rethought that. We have yet to root out any Pahn Kahl, and so far four have died. I now believe that killing is not the answer in all cases, and will try to consider my moves more carefully. In summary, please do not move against me because of the way I've voted before now. I have changed my approach significantly, and hope that I will do better from here on out. I know my jumping to defend myself may seem suspicious, but let me reassert that I am just trying to do my best. I have nothing to hide and I want to let that be known.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

When you know what that is a reference to, despite it being an unwritten novel. -
Cool idea! Were I an artist, I would do a side by side depiction of Shallan and Veil. Alas, I could not do the idea any justice.

Wyrmhero: People will vote for whom it makes sense to vote. There's no point if everyone votes for different people. If someone votes for one person and someone else agrees with their logic, they might as well vote for that person in order to help move things forward. That said (sorry, once again no time for RP), I retract my vote for Chide and now place my vote for Dyrri.

I have it in my mind that Ryshadium and all horses are not of Roshar originally, just like the humans, as their biology just doesn't fit the ecology of the planet. We have had some discussion of what the Tranquiline Halls actually are. Whatever it is, it is almost certainly not a place of Odium, so I am going to say that the Ryshadium are not of Odium. Sort of repeating what Wrath just said, I also don't think they are of Odium because of their honorable relation to humans, and seeming relation to Surgebinders, particular Knights Radiant.

Sorry I haven't been active the last couple days, I haven't had the time to really commit to a good RP post or anything. To have my voice be heard, and to help prevent a lockup, I will vote for Chide, since the vote is leaning against him anyways. This day hasn't really revealed anything new to put me against anyone else. Sorry, Chide.

I find it interesting that almost every depiction of Shallan is different. No one seems to view her exactly the same as anyone else. I like that. Yours is amazing, Stirvino! You really captured her emotion and conflict very well!

Unfortunately: It has been theorized that these are essentially Metallic Art fabrials. They are essentially totally inorganic, possible less so than actual fabrials if you consider spren organic in some way.

I have often had similar thoughts, based on the same trend. I think it is relevant to note, however, that the Stormlight Archive is divided into two cycles, each of five books. Brandon has said that he really sees the two arcs as separate stories. So we're really almost 40% into the story at this point. We have hardly even seen Odium as a villain at this point. So while I think we should definitely be more wary of assuming Odium will turn out to be the Big Bad, I still think it likely he will be it. We know Hoid has him singled out as it, and while his dragon friend disagrees, Hoid is far more cosmere-knowledgeable than we are, so I think we should trust him to some extent. I don't think Odium will be the Big Bad of the whole cosmere, however. He may also not even be around for the second Stormlight Cycle. I am sure something will happen in cycle one that we don't expect, but I think Odium will remain the major enemy. The twist will be in cycle two, like, "Yay, we defeated evil, everyone have a cookie. Oh storms we have bigger problems."

I'm sorry, what do you mean by their "tear"? I simply wonder if however the Spiritweb of a Nalthian is composed, is it similar enough to that of a Surgebinder that Stormlight can work like Breath. Are you suggesting that the bond between a Returned and his/her Divine Breath operates as a Nahel bond? If that is the case, could Vasher just step onto Roshar and suck in some Stormlight? Or did he need to form a special type of bond first before he could suck it in?

I'm really interested to see how this turns out! Be sure to keep us posted! Maybe post some pictures in the gallery.
