  1. I understand your logic, it's a reasonable theory but personally I really don't think this is the case. Like Bean said I think that their sDNA limits how they can utilize the investiture as much as it limits what metal they can burn. So I think that regardless of how they gained the investiture their sDNA would constrain how they were able to utilize it.
  2. Clancy sat in the bar, 2 empty mugs already sitting beside him while he worked his way through a third. For once he had no desire to tell a story, every story he thought of seemed stale and hollow. He had suggested this course of action, systematically rooting out the traitors. He had thought it would be better than the otherwise inevitable chaos and death but because of it Grayv and Edgar were dead and due to their failure to catch the traitors so were Dr Digits, Jason and now Quinn. Was this really any better? When would it end? Who would die next? Clancy took another long pull from his mug. ----- We, are in trouble. Time for some heavy-duty thinking. Edit: Great writeup though Meta.
  3. Welcome to the forums Moist_von_Lipwig! I agree that Terry Pratchets novels are very entertaining. As do I
  4. Welcome to the forums Radda! I'm guessing that the appropriateness of the ringtone may have got a chuckle out of Brandon? Don't worry, there is a borderline ridiculous amount of theorycrafting on the site (though I'm making no judgements of that being a bad thing) but there are still plenty of people who are interested in discussing character interaction and other things.
  5. Regarding Kelsier your guess is pretty good He was 38. Before anyone gets very confused as to how I remember that, I have just been rereading the well of ascension having recently relocated my copy. Early in the book Vin and Elend have a discussion about how many people would rather that Kelsier was there and king than Elend and Vin states very clearly to Elend that she prefers him The Well of Ascension chapter 5 (I know I didn't need that much of the quote, but it's funny )
  6. I can openly admit that I have not played any of those games, namely because they simply don't fit my tastes. All 3 are spectacle fighters (I don't mean that as an insult to the games, just as a general description of them. I do know that many many people who enjoy that sort of game really like the batman games, they did well critically as well. As for young justice legacy, a quick scan of reviews finds a lot of criticism mainly talking about poor graphics, badly designed and inconsistent and unresponsive controls. But not having played any of them there is really nothing else I can contribute here, sorry Back on the original topic I see it getting pushed back as more of a good thing than a bad one, making a good mistborn game (especially mechanically) is no small task (I spent a fair amount of time considering the possibilities and difficulties of such a game even before Birthright was announced ). I sincerely hope that it goes well.
  7. I don't know for certain if you will allow this Meta but given the difficulties of a forum based game and differing timezones I am guessing you will. I am going to be asleep shortly and will be still asleep when the voting ends. I naturally do not want the vote to hit a deadlock so in the interests of avoiding that I would like to make my vote be fore beetle, unless Darnam and Aether change their votes to a different person. In that situation (if I was online) I would be changing my vote to match theirs but due to the unfortunate need for sleep I will not be around to do it in person, therefore I ask that my vote be for beetle or whoever the two of them vote for if they change. If you won't allow it for some reason then ok, my vote would just be for Beetle still. So to say it in game to make it official (I have edited the colour of my last vote to green to negate it for clarity): I vote for Beetle OR for whoever Darnam and Aether vote for if they both change their vote to the same person.
  8. @Darnam, No need to feel that bad about it, I was just explaining my situation so it was clear what was going on I have supported your path because it was a reasonable plan and idea. In almost every game of this type I have played sooner or later one or more people step out as you have, and inevitably some people fight back at them. Some perhaps because they are spiked, some perhaps because they think you are spiked and some others who may simply disagree with your plan. Inside the game being obstinant and overstating your case is a valid tactic regardless of what your role is, though unfortunately this can sometimes lead to the game getting a tad more toxic than would be ideal as people argue. I won't go over my points again (unless someone specifically asks me) or ask you to go over yours as I believe we both fully understand eachother and have simply drawn differing conclusions on which of Beetle and Edgar is more suspicious.
  9. Let me see if I can help here Just let me know if I misinterpreted anything Kev. Kev is saying how he likes what Rocksteady, the company behind the recent batman videogames Arkham Asylum and Arkham city, has done with their batman games and he thinks that a similar style could work well for mistborn. He is also saying that he is concerned that the mistborn game might be made in a fashion much more similar to the devil may cry games and might fail as being a substandard game of that type. He is also noting that Little orbit's recent game Young Justice Legacy did not go well and he is worried about mistborn being even worse if it was made in a similar style to Devil may cry. (Sorry if I got anything wrong/am out of line here/iterated over stuff you already know.)
  10. First up, I apologize for not changing the colour of my original vote it wasn't part of some master plan, I just completely forgot, I've fixed it now. Second note is that I am in Australia and work throughout the morning, that last post I did was right before I went to bed and I have only just got back and finished reading through the thread, I wasn't ignoring you and Aether reminding me to change it multiple times, I just hadn't come online yet. Now more than ever I believe that Edgar is more likely to be spiked than Beetle, though it is also possible that they both are. However I will stick with our voting block agreement, if we break that now we fall into disorganized chaos again. Edit: To state clearly, I am in favour of switching our block vote to Edgar today and Beetle tomorrow but leave the final choice to Darnam still.
  11. @Darnam. Please note that I do not currently trust you any more than you trust me and I have I think good reason to be concerned. This plan of yours, while I agree that there is a good chance that it is correct, if we follow this path far and you are wrong and there aren't many spiked in the 7, we will just about lose the game with around the same certainty that we would win if you were right. The part that concerns me most is if you are spiked, because if you are, then you would only be proposing this plan if most of the block wasn't spiked. In this hypothetical situation it would be an ingenious move on your part which could very very easily lead to all our deaths. We are playing with fairly high stakes on this plan. With that in mind I plan to keep a healthy suspicion on you until something proves otherwise. So I'm suspicious of you and your suspicious of me, but one of us has to give the first show of good faith so I will change my vote to Beetle this round. Edgar isn't cleared of suspicion in my eyes as he could still very easily be a spiked trying to save himself and he has notably failed to give us any form of proof for his innocence and seeking capability. That could be just a result of bad luck with his seeking, or he just as easily could be lying.
  12. Sorry for double posting, but I think it's preferable to editing now. Here is the relevant post.
  13. @Darnam, Oooh clever, not a sure thing but there is an excellent chance that at least one or two of the spiked voted for him. @Kurk, If person A voted for person B and then they were killed by spiked the next night that can indicate that they are spiked. It isn't always the case, however just before Jason died he started openly suspecting Edgar and then the spiked killed him. That isn't a huge amount of evidence in itself but he is also on the list of us who voted for Grayv. That's two pieces of evidence which is more than we have for most people. So for the moment I am going to throw my vote for Edgar. If we don't kill him we should at least prioritize seeking him. (And yes, I am aware that I am on the list of voters for Grayv and so supporting Darnam's idea is supporting evidence against me as much as it is evidence against the others, but it seems like something worth investigating.)
  14. Kurkistan is right. The trick seems to be adding enough to strengthen it without fundamentally changing it from being aluminium. Basically trying to turn it into an "impure" aluminum that is stronger but still close enough to be aluminium, not an alloy. Well, that is my take on it, it could be wrong though.
  15. Sorry Grayv, but you did seem to be the most likely to be spiked.
  16. Classes where you guys are seem to start at very different times to here (Australia). Here high-school/primary-school don't go back till the end of January and University doesn't go back till the end of Feb. On a related note, timing isn't all that much of an issue for me atm. I am working a bit but I still have a good amount of spare time when I am well enough to take advantage of it.
  17. Brandon is a genius at working out good twists. I think the most important part of such twists is that they make a lot of sense in retrospect, anyone can pull a frog out of a hat (surprising everyone who thought it would be a rabbit ) but Brandon's twists are always very well built up to and actually make more sense than what we thought was going on.
  18. Welcome to the forums Shenan! Always glad to have another sanderon fan on the site Out of curiosity, which has been your favourite book so far?
  19. I'm going to lock in my vote for Grayv for now in case I am not on later. He still seems the most suspicious to me thus far. @bartbug, I can't be bothered converting timezones, but at the time of your post there was roughly 16 hours remaining. Edit: (Only adding not changing anything.) It would be just under 15 now actually.
  20. Oh, right, oops. Forgot about the village only part . Silly of me. I do however maintain that the loss of the tineye is serious, depriving us of pm's is a pretty big hit. [This isn't really important BUT, having the mistborn as described would still increase their chances of killing the tineye straight off. Sure it would be a very small chance that he would happen to be a seeker then happen to seek the tineye, but that small chance would add on to the chance of them just randomly selecting the tineye for death making it slightly more probable. A technicality really but still true However yeah, not substantial enough odds for it to be more than a coincidence.]
  21. True, but at least if we kill someone we have a chance of killing one of the spiked, deadlocking has the same effect as skipping a day cycle. Then again if we kill one of our own we effectively skip forward an extra day. In the later game we absolutely cannot afford a deadlock, but I guess in the early game it might not be quite as bad, giving us a chance to get more intel without hastening our own demise. Getting nowhere in a day certainly isn't ideal though.
  22. As wilson just said 6 of us are yet to vote at all and everyone else can still change so we still have plenty of time and votes to make certain we don't hit a deadlock. For now the focus should really be on who we think is the most suspicious rather than ensuring that *someone* dies. We can easily change votes in the last hour or so to ensure someone does if necessary. Personally I am leaning vaguely towards Grayv for the same reasons that others have already said, he seems the most suspicious thus far. I'm not certain enough to vote yet though. A thought I have had that I would like to mention is how quickly the spiked team managed to take out the tineye. I mean, on the very first night! They could have just killed Dr Digits, not knowing he was a tineye but with 16 players - the spiked players that isn't huge odds. If they had the seeker or a mistborn who got the power of seeking this round that could have improved their chances of taking out such an important ability straight off the bat. This is far from certain of course but I think the possibility is worth considering. Having the seeker be on the spiked team could be a huge advantage for them. Partly because of the benefits it would grant them in choosing who to kill, but more importantly that would mean that their wouldn't be a villager seeker trying to seek them out! Edit: Gravy having posted just before I did. @Gravy, that does make sense but you could still have at least put forward some thoughts as to who it might be, I mean, no vote is set in stone yet or anything. Sorry but I'm still considering you as being, just barely, the most suspicious.
  23. Oh we've certainly been grasping at straws the whole time At least one of the straws appears to be thicker than any of us really suspected though
  24. Some time later after the taverns patrons had time to become suitably inebriated Clancy found himself seated next to Gambles, responding to a question regarding the validity of his story. Clancy was not drunk, he did not particularly enjoy the feeling or the aftereffects. He had however partaken of a couple of drinks and was, as ever, willing to talk. "The truth is that I am a storyteller, not a truthteller. Are all my stories strictly true? Of course not my friend, that is not the purpose of a story. A good story" he continued passionately, "serves a dual purpose. Firstly it should entertain and enthrall the audience. And secondly, " he took a swig from his tankard, "a story should give the audience cause to think, to present them with a question and encourage them to seek answers and most also impart a moral or lesson." "So did such a village as I described exist? Undoubtedly, in my travels before settling here I heard many such tails. In some of them there was certainly dissension as tempers and terror rose. That dissension would have lead to chaos and death, we must not allow that to happen here. That, Gambles, was the purpose of my story. Does it truly matter if it was not entirely fact?"
  25. Clancy sighed internally There's always one. "Not everyone stayed around to wait for the koloss to come. With the threat of the koloss and with skaa murdering eachother out of suspicion people left the town. Some went back later to see if there was anything left they could salvage." I figured someone would mention that
