Day 3: Lacking Cohesion Pewter Fron wandered through the dark streets puffing quietly on his pipe, satisfied with his night. And, for that matter, the day proceeding it. After work that day he had sought out his contacts and he was almost certain that he now knew who was behind the recent attacks. He even had a lead on where the Princess Vivenna might have gone. To top it all off his night activities had been unexpectedly successful. As he walked he watched the cobblestones beneath and smiled as he saw them grow imperceptibly brighter as he passed. I'll have to be careful with this he thought, wouldn't want the others finding out. He felt really good, more alive, I should have done this years ago. He thought, idly rubbing his scar. Tomorrow would be a new day, a turning point he was certain. Someone moved out of the shadows and Fron let out a startled scream. The figure dashed forward and clamped a hand over Fron's mouth. Fron struggled but the figure laid a dagger against his neck and Fron froze at the icy touch. “Give me your breath.” The voice was low and menacing. Fron mutely shook his head. “Say, the, words.” the figure pressed the dagger against Fron's throat, drawing a bead of blood, then released the pressure on the dagger and moved their hand from Fron's mouth. Seeing no alternative Fron spoke, “My life to yours” he recited, “My breath becomes yours.” His breath flowed forward into the figure who breathed in deeply and smiled. “Thankyou” the figure said, then slashed the dagger across Fron's neck before running off into the night. Elsewhere in two separate places across the town words were whispered, breath flowed and the bodies of Paxen and Vard climbed unsteadily to their feet. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Fron was a normal Idrian. Day 3 begins and will end at 22:30 AEST / 12:30 GMT on Monday. Night PM's will be sent out shortly. The updated list of Strawman spying results (the original list missed a few and had a couple of problems): do nothing, recover breath, awaken, command, kill, purchase breath or use a special role ability. Fron's backstory was looking interesting =( EDIT: All pm's sent out.

The night has ended! New thread going up now. I hope that a lot of you are dead by then. Not because I want the Pahn Kahl to win, I don't take sides. But I do hope it will be close [17s really needs a proper evil grin smiley.]
-
Actually that does sound fun, I'll work out a system What I said above stays as an example of how things could turn out. Yay! Let's make this game MORE complex XD On a seperate note night actions are now closed, writeup in 12 hours.
-
If only there was a forum dedicated to playing it that happened to have an opening in one of their new campaigns. But that would be ridiculous right? If you are interested
-
Yeah that is in the original MAG. One of the most interesting things that is from Wrought of Copper is a section on how feruchemy feels. Which is kind of awesome It would be cooler to find out first hand but that could be rather tricky.

Then we get a nice equitable peace. It doesn't seem too likely, but you never know. ..

This is just a friendly reminder that you now have 12 hours remaining to get your night orders in! So everybody knows, these are roughly the possible outcomes of the game: -Pahn Kahl win, Idris and Hallandren enter a war that will devastate both countries. Obviously the worst case scenario for Idirans and Hallandrens. -Pahn Kahl are defeated and there are more Hallandrens remaining. There is peace, but Idris gets the short end of the stick. They aren't subjugated by the Hallandren but they have to make serious concessions including the Northern passes, effectively cutting Idris out of the trade route and nearly crippling their economy. -Pahn Kahl are defeated and there are more Idrians remaining. There is peace, but Hallendren loses out badly in the negotiations. A large chunk of northern Hallanendren is folded into Idris, Idris takes a portion of the profits from the dye industry, labeling it a "shared venture" and lifeless are outlawed altogether. Hmm, yep, no option that ends well for everyone. My work here is done ; )

Yeah it's a double post but it's completely seperate, sorry. Kurkistan just hit 1111 reputation and I get the feeling it will be gone the moment he gets another rep, so here's a pic. Well played Chaos. This is pretty awesome. Waffles! Edit: Ok, it isn't a single number title which is nice, you get the waffley awesomeness for longer.

When it comes down to it I already had 160 recorded as being in Oldbloods, I could have made a mistake when I put it in, but I think it is most likely that that is the hard boundary. Close enough that I am happy to leave it in bold =)

You do. So if 2 people try to create a lifeless with 1 breath and they choose different bodies they both succeed. But if they choose the same they will both fail. Aaaand Ninja'd There is always an indeterminate amount of lifeless in the barracks. Aside from rp concerns once a created lifeless has been used/discovered it might as well not exist anymore from a gameplay sense. Aaaaand I should get back to work. It is 4am here and I really should be working on my assignments again. Oh well, it was a pleasant break : ) Edit: As it is possible this was misunderstood or not clear: "The Pahn Kahl cannot have roles other than returned and awakener."
-
Just did Hmm, maybe, I'll consider it. Naturally I won't tell you what I decide ; ) Colours, forgot to roll for the drabs losing their vote. Oh well, it wouldn't have made a difference regardless this time. I won't make that mistake again.

Night 2: A Deadly Division Duralumin The sun had scarcely risen and the frost on the windows barely melted when the accusations began. Another Idrian was dead, and tempers and suspicions were running high. The night had been a busy time for many of the villagers and ambassadors and no small number had been less than honest about their intentions. Some of them simply had the misfortune that their subterfuge had been noticed. “Cog lied to us!” Bartholomew cried, “He said he would give away his breath but spent the night searching for more!” Several voices chimed in, calling for Cog to explain himself or die. “I was just trying to fool the Pahn Kahl.” Cog said emphatically, “Now Aodan contacted several of us Hallendrens, claiming to be an agent for us, yet Vard was clearly our Agent! We should kill Aodan!” The discussion rapidly devolved into a shouted argument with votes being made, changed and retracted. Bartholomew and Rowan both came under suspicion as votes flew but Cog and Aodan remained the centre of the argument until Aodan revealed himself as an Idrian monk and claimed that he now believed Cog to be innocent, causing the other Idrians to grudgingly retract their votes. With the day half over and no certain end in sight Wil'son asked Swimim to explain his somewhat suspicious behaviour and was shocked when, mistaking her intention, several others started calling for his death! Wyrm was similarly surprised when his questioning of Chide caused several ambassadors to vote for him. As the day drew to a close and the votes against Swimim stacked up Wil'son tried to halt the flow by retracting her own vote but without success and when night fell the villagers dragged Swimim out into the street and plunged a dagger through his heart. As he died, the colours around him flared and dulled, revealing the store of breath he had kept hidden. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Swimim was a Hallendren Awakener! In other words he began the game with multiple breaths and still had some at the time of his death. Votes: Swimim (Swimmingly) 7: Gammer, Bartholomew, Aili, Rick, Tril, Rowan, Dainard Chide (Chid) 2: Elo, Grim Thomas (the Gleeman) 1: Wyrm Alan (Nepene) 1: Peng If you are trying to get anything from the order I put the votes here don't bother. They are simply in the order that people are in my spreadsheet from the order people signed up in So now Paxen, Vard and Swimim's bodies are available to be made into lifeless. A note, a lifeless cannot protect you that night you create it. (I don't believe I have commented on whether it could or not before.) I apologize for the less than stellar writeup. I have two major assignments due tomorrow and I doubt I will be getting much sleep tonight as is. Night 2 begins and will end at 22:30 AEST / 12:30 GMT on Saturday. All night actions must be in by 10:30 AEST / 00:30 GMT on Saturday. Have fun killing eachother ; ) Edit: Added votes, sorry, kinda busy and forgot before.
-
And that's time, writeup incoming. Very shortly.
-
Something that needs to be made clear here, when I say that Idrians cannot vote for someone protected by an Idiran Monk I mean they cannot vote for them. So as a general note: if you appear Idrian, unless you are a Hallandren Agent or a PK and send me a pm stating that you really do want to vote for that person I will simply ignore your votes. They will not appear as negated votes in the tally. The idrian monks ability is not intended to be allow easy sorting of true Idrians from everyone else. Also, the voting today is a bit crazy It keeps bouncing around everywhere. Yay, managed to catch up on the thread before having to leave for Uni =)
-
Correct. Bedtime for me, gnight all =)
-
It will be in the writeup, no-one did last night. @Aodan, I said that you need to declare it publicly, which you have, so that is fine. However you may want to make it clearer, I think you are protecting Cog but I can't be 100% certain that was your intent. You cannot fake being a monk, if someone tries I will call them out on it So yes, he is a monk. Idrians literally cannot cast votes at Cog this cycle (if we are right and he is protecting Cog). Was always going to be interesting when this came up.
-
Just to confirm, you can use a strawman the night you create it. You can also use awakened ropes without delay, but not swords or lifeless. A nice easy rule clarification =)
-
The zombie part is fine but the OOC is game information and definitely against the rules. Talking about your ingame actions and motivations outside of the dead doc after dying (and before the game ends) is certainly not allowed. It probably won't change too much this time but it could. In terms of the rules it doesn't matter how important or otherwise the information you said is, it is still against the rules and sets a bad precedent which could lead to more important information being leaked. Sorry but I am going to have to downvote that post for rules-breaking, the thing is that if a couple more people intentionally or accidentally reveal any game material in these death posts we will have to outlaw them all-together. And that would be a shame. Allowing people to post after death at all is skirting the danger of something leaking and if the afterdeath posts are misused we need to step on it to avoid them being deliberately abused in the future. To be clear though NO ONE else should downvote it because of this, I am only doing so to reinforce the point. (You have enough upvotes on the post that it won't make too much of a difference that I do.) I may be coming down a little hard but something like this could mess up the game. I don't like doing that : (

Day 2 : A Sudden Transformation Vard wandered through the night, the town was quiet around him. Though far less quiet than he had expected, earlier it had seemed you could barely step into an alleyway without bumping into one hooded figure or another. But the town was emptier now, most villagers and ambassadors having finally retired for the night. Vard had taken to the streets later than the others as he put the finishing touches on a second coffin, he had a sad feeling that they would need it soon. Vard thought he might follow the others example and go to bed soon, he had hoped to find someone to buy another breath off, with the death of Paxen he thought that having some more breath might be a good idea, just as a precaution. Unfortunately it seemed that much of the town had had the same idea and there wasn't a breath seller left to be found. Vard sighed, perhaps it was for the best. If he got too many breaths the Idrians would likely start to suspect him, and that wouldn't do at all. He had been given the task of infiltrating the Indrians, just as a safety precaution of course, but it appeared that his infiltration might soon become very important. With no sign of a breath dealer Vard turned and headed back to his forge. His thoughts wandering as he walked. I remember hearing about a new book on stickism, I wonder if I could find a copy tomorrow. Lost in thought as he was he didn't hear the footsteps behind him and didn't realise he was being followed till a sharp pain blossomed through his chest. What? He tried to turn around but his body didn't seem to work right and he collapsed to the ground. As his mind faded he faintly heard a voice berating another for starting with a killing blow, then the voice was yelling something about breath at him. Vard didn't care, he didn't really care about anything actually. He relaxed and let himself....just...drift... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Vard was a Hallendren Agent! Day 1 begins and will end at 22:30 AEST / 12:30 GMT on Thursday. Writeups are fun! I am going to ask Meta to unlock the main thread so I can edit stuff in there properly, please DO NOT post there. Thankyou in advance @Meta, If you could unlock it and move night 1 into it that would be great I will have all night result pm's out shortly. If you were trying to get breath and don't get a pm in the next 15 mins it means you didn't get one, I don't want to send that many extra pm's. Edit: All pm's sent!

That's definitely the barrier then. I already had it at Cryptic at 1050 Thanks. Funny how there is a gap of unconfirmed boundaries from Elantrian to Shardbearer, then we have several confirmed boundaries again : P

OK. Time to explain why the detection comes before the awakening. You are likely to decide you want to use the aura recognition based on suspicions gained during the day cycle. Often the person will be aware of your suspicion or at least have some idea that they might be considered suspicious. If the order were the other way around they could easily hide excess breath in a strawman or awakened rope. Any searching you do before they get a chance to awaken or give breath will be how they are based off the last cycle, rather than how they choose to be seen. Does that make sense to you? Feel free to point out any flaws in my logic/counter-arguments etc.

Night Actions are now Closed. The night will end in 12 hours. I have things to say regarding why the night action order is as it is but I'm not certain I will have time this morning, I'll talk about it this afternoon if I don't.
-
That is a possibility. Note: A little over 11 hours left to send me night orders if you haven't already! I'm still missing 9 people's actions...
-
Some info on the order of night actions. To reiterate what I said earlier (just in case) before all night actions have to be in by the 36 hour mark as the last 12 hours is for the returned to decide if they want to save anyone. The returned shouldn't tell anyone else who is going to die during this period. I'm watching you... ; ) Saving someone as a returned takes your night action, cancelling whatever you were going to do. IF your action was a kill you cannot do this. (So a kill through lifeless commands or an awakened sword.) Night activities all occur at the end of the night, the order is a little odd if you think about it, but spying and aura recognition detects people as they are at the start of the night. For a more exact order: -Spy, aura recognition -awakening (except awakened rope will still cancel spying and aura recognition...go figure) -strawmen -Breath Lottery/Giving breath -kills -returned saving Edit: Forgot to place Giving Breath
