  1. Unless something happened that I missed, isn't this still the leading theory?
  2. Ah, that makes sense. I should probably not just assume that everyone's read White Sand.
  3. That's the most reasonable answer, IMO. Sazed has certainly changed, but he still remembers Kelsier, so he knows what he's capable of...and is probably pretty wary about him doing something drastic. Which, it's Kell, so of course he did something drastic.
  4. I'm curious as to the placement of White Sand at the same time as LoP and Dragonsteel. From what I gather, the Dragonsteel series is going to show the actual Shattering of Adonalsium (and Liar of Partinel is definitely before that), but White Sand is clearly post-Adonalsium. It's early on in the timeline, for sure, but it's gotta be after Dragonsteel, right?
  5. I should mention that the reason I paired up Odium and Honor was due to their active intents (lowercase i) that we've seen. Honor loves bonds and binding people together, and Odium is all about breaking things (Shards).
  6. So far, through WoB and the books released, Brandon has given us the names of 9 Shards. I know there's been lots of speculation over time, but one of the things I've noticed lately is a sort of fixation (understandably, considering the books we've gotten lately) on Harmony and Autonomy. One thing that I think has slipped under the radar during all the Trell debate is that the revelation of Autonomy now gives us 2/3 of known Shards that have opposite Intents. Ruin/Preservation Odium/Honor Autonomy/Dominion Endowment Cultivation Devotion Of course, we also have the unknown Intent of the Shard that just wants to survive. What this brings me to is an attempt at guessing some of the other unknown Shards. The fact that six of the nine known Shards have opposition does lend credence to the idea that all of them do, and I will be operating under that assumption while I proceed with rampant speculation. So, starting with Endowment and Devotion. Both of these have connotations of selflessness, but one in an emotional/spiritual sense and the other in a physical sense. Taking that to its logical conclusion, my best guess is opposing Shards of emotional and physical themes. Endowment against Greed or, perhaps a bit of a stretch, Nepotism Devotion against Narcissism/Lust Lastly among the known Shards we have Cultivation. This is an interesting one, since it does have some similarities to the idea of Preservation, in that Ruin would be a similar opposition. The most logical would be something like Disease or Decay. And that leaves us with the realm of pure speculation. We know we have a "survival" Shard, but that its Intent isn't necessarily directly related to surviving. The place my mind immediately jumps is simpler: Fear, or perhaps Cowardice. That would directly line up against some type of Courage Intent. The last two are, admittedly, pure guesses. Going off what we know of Shards' Intents, that being that they're personality traits, my best bet is something along the lines of Ambition and Indecision. So the sixteen Shards, in theory, would be: Ruin | Preservation Dominion | Autonomy Odium | Honor Endowment | Greed Devotion | Narcissism Cultivation | Decay Fear | Courage Ambition | Indecision How wildly off do you think I am?
  7. I'm pretty sure there's no atium anymore (beyond whatever Marsh has left). Hoid is on Scadrial now through Harmony's shardpool, referenced in the SoS broadsheet.
  8. Yep, I just completely forgot about the Feruchemical aspect when I posted. I was too excited by all the new info...
  9. Yeah, it's gotta be Connection. I guess this thread got moved over here from the other spoiler board, but I posted there about filling your metalmind with Connection and becoming unnoticeable.
  10. Definitely an intriguing idea here. But the conversation between Wax and Sazed points to Trell/the new Shardic force being extraplanetary, what with the red haze coming at Scadrial and being held back by Sazed.
  11. And because I'm impatient and want to know ALL THE THINGS at THIS VERY MOMENT. Ha. The fact that we still don't know the Intents of, what, seven of the Shards? Frustrating. It would make sense for him to reveal another one at this stage, considering how much he opened up the Cosmere with this novella. That's assuming he's not counting Autonomy as that reveal, since I guess this is the first time it's been mentioned on the actual page.
  12. Oh, right, Feruchemy. Duh. Yeah, you're probably right. But it would be really cool (and would make a fair amount of sense) if Fortune were another Shard...
  13. I have to wonder if it's related to Yolen in some way. The fact that Khriss said Yolen is hidden makes me wonder if there's some sort of galactic upheaval that occurred during the Shattering, and the red constellation is the result.
  14. So I've long operated under the impression that Khriss is part of the 17th Shard, mostly because Baon is. But after her comment that Yolen is hidden now, I have to wonder if she has her own group. So, with the new info we got in Bands of Mourning, we now have a LOT of different (potential) groups running around the Cosmere: - 17th Shard - Ghostbloods - The Series - Khriss's group? - Hoid - The Ire I'm just floored by how much Brandon expanded what we know in these two books.
  15. During Kelsier's spying on the Ire, we get this little tidbit: As far as I can remember, I've never seen fortune capitalized or used in the context of actively implementing it as a power. New Shard, perhaps?
  16. Questions asked by me (paraphrased, didn't think to take video) Q: Does Khriss have a way of changing her appearance? A: Yes Q: Have we seen her in any of the books out so far? (realized I worded this poorly for my intention and asked another question before he answered) Q: Is Vathi Khriss? A: No, someone else. But you'll see Khriss in a soon-to-be-published book.
  17. But couldn't Honor and Odium be paired? Honor is all about bonds, Odium is all about breaking them.
  18. Yeah, I know. But the way I asked it was explicitly in a worldhopping context, so if he means White Sand, he was screwing with me. My questions in this train were: "Does Khriss have a way to alter her appearance?" "Is Vathi Khriss?" Upon getting a no on the second one, I continued with "Have we seen Khriss worldhop anywhere so far?" And I had already asked him a couple White Sand specific questions, so he knew I knew she was a character in it.
  19. So I actually asked a multi-part question about this at the Denver signing. Per Brandon, Khriss has a way to change her appearance. I was trying to lead him into the Vathi question, which he played into nicely...and then shot down. Khriss is not Vathi. I then asked if we've seen her before in a published book and he said: "Khriss will show up in a soon to be published book." That tells me either Bands of Mourning or Oathbringer, assuming he's not being obnoxious and means the White Sand graphic novel.
  20. I like the idea of the worldhopper being Iyatil. The broadsheet in SoS has a masked person as the image next to the blurb, and we know Iyatil's part of a worldhopping crew, so...
  21. I doubt we'll get audio confirmation on that WoB. I had a surrogate ask Brandon for me, and that night he told me Brandon said he wasn't.
  22. I asked Brandon if we'd seen Trell in a published book and he gave me an immediate RAFO.
  23. It was a guy in the "The Wheel of Time." facebook group. Not entirely sure how to link his post here, but he asked people to give him questions to ask Brandon. After the event, he posted the following: "Shout out to B, thanks for the signing, keep doing what you do best, storm light 3 coming next year November, trell isn't native to yolen, egwene had to die, not sure about war breaker, I dunno about me but he was def surrounded by 'badass mother*r' spren" Emphasis mine.
  24. Secondhand source here, but I asked a friend who was going to one of the Cali signings to ask if Trell is native to Yolen. Per Brandon "with a smirk", Trell is not native to Yolen.
  25. So I think this kind of applies in this thread, since it's the Shard Autonomy that it's all about, but... Either Trell isn't Autonomy, or Bavadin died somewhere along the way and Trell picked it up. I had someone ask Brandon the other day, and he said Trell is NOT from Yolen. So, I take that as he was not one of the original Shards. Thoughts? *I'd also like to be added to the White Sand PM, since there is more I'd like to say on this topic there.
