I followed this Forum so I don't miss the next game. I was about 6 hours too late.... I love these types of games! Don't fret though, I will be following along and keeping track of who I think the people are Meta - for fun, do you mind if I pm you any predictions I have just from the subtleties of the posts?

Aye, sorry about that. On Topic: I don't think Szeth will die. He has too much background and insight into the Shin (who I think we all agree will be a major factor in this series). Brandon has stated that a flashback book COULD be of a dead character, but I don't buy it. It sounds more like something Brandon would say just to mess with us. The exception would be if he could be brought back somehow, which almost seems too cliche (not that Brandon couldn't pull it off amazingly).

All the speculation of Dalinar dying - I extremely doubt it. Brandon said Dalinar is the first character he ever wrote (when he was like 13/14) and his favorite. I don't see Brandon killing off his favorite character....
-
how do you know they don't create fire? As far as fear and honor, those are not a force of nature. So I don't think this theory would apply to them.
-
This is simular to a theory I have been spouting in different threads. I like it. Side note: it makes the most sense that the shard blades would be stored in the spiritual realm. Brandon states they sever a part of the soul. Sounds spiritual to me.

Syl being the only Honorspren currently in the Physical Realm
Macen replied to TJK99's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like 1-5-7/8 as different shard associations. If that's the case the only logical option would be Adonalsium. The other option could be Stormfaterh/Nightwatcher being Adonalsium spren from before and having some influence over the other spren. This would be something along the lines of Honor = Pressure, Nightwatcher = Friction, Cultivation = Growth, Stormfather = Unknown. This would associate the different shard with more of a power, rather than a order. *NOTE* this is an outline for a theory, without much thought put into it. I do like the premise though. -
I like where the comments are going here. I still believe that the truthless part has more to do with Szeths knowledge and status before he became truthless. He seems to fanatically stick to his truthless 'restrictions' which implies a lot of devotion to his beliefs. I feel like this implies that he was a leader or had some sort of 'status' in his culture. I can get behind the Szeth holding an Honorblade (I don't like it, but more and more it seems to fit) but he still is far too trained in the use of the shardblade and the windrunner powers to just be someone who picked up a blade and be that amazing. Doing a lookback at his chapters and the 'deleted scenes' it appears Szeth was trained to be a warrior, but we don't know enough about the Shin culture to speculate too much - perhaps they are ALL trained, but forbidden to take up arms. I'm curious as to how Mr. T knows about him being truthless (he appears to know a lot about everything). Sorry for the like 5 different thoughts thrown together in one post. I tend to use my posts like my own personal brainstorm P.S. I know that a lot of these things have been said in other posts - i'm just trying to link them all together in my head. I feel putting them all in one post might give one of you an idea that can link them all - because I can't quite get it right.

Exactly: Damnit Mirainmi, I just posted this same type of idea in another thread then came over here and saw you had already posted it... +1 upvote -
Just seeing how many other Sandersonians we have here in Lincoln (where Brandon is from). I can't be the only one.

Lincoln, Nebraska. I wish there was something in the water here that made everyone as brilliant as Brandon, but it doesn't appear to be that way...

Just to throw a wrench in the cogs here. What is there was a 3rd entity (Adonalsium) that takes up part of the chart. I know this is breaking out of the mold somewhat, but what if Honor = 1, cultivation = 4 and Adonalsium = 6/7. I base this on the fact that there were already spren before Honor and Cultivation arrived. Just a thought. -
But argent... I want to respond... *starts pouting*

I wouldn't be suprised if this was true. Although, I believe this is a little misguided and possibly a manipulation of odiums. If Odium convinced (through manipulation) the Heralds that surgebinding brought about the desolations. This could spell bad news for humans when the desolation comes anyways and Heralds had actively been trying to prevent the only chance the planet has from being formed. I actually like this line of thought. It would add a whole lot of subterfuge and conspiracy into the story. More than there already is....

I believe their is a WoB also stating that all of the bonding spren are part of cultivation, honor, or a blend of. But I could be off base on this. Pattern is cryptic, no doubt about that - but he does seem to want Shallan to admit her secrets to him (and herself).

Admitting truths that you are hiding from yourself is part of maturing and growing as a person. I would say in a round about way this reeks of cultivation and pruning.

The only reason I tied it to the last part there Blood is due to this: This implies that his honor demanded he that he believe Voidbringers exist, but his punishment declares that they do not. This implies that he is going against the norm and was punished for it. As far as the blade and surgebinding go, I used to agree with you on that, but I don't know if I do anymore. He has too much training on how both work. We know from WoB that:

I'll concede that this is probably not the only conflict (possible/probably not even their original) they have, but I would say it's a major one. We kind of need to know exactly why the stormfather doesn't want them to bond with humans. If Jez is the stormfather that might explain some of it, but it's still so vague. As of right now this is the only part of their conflict I can reasonably say is almost certain. I'm sure there is a colorful history as to why they don't get along (the simple fact that they are opposites on the surgecharge supports this), but we don't know what any of it is or have anything information to speculate on.

I apologize in advance, I didn't take the time to search to see if this was somewhere else. My theory is based on this quote: "Holding his breath, he clung to the Stormlight. He could still feel it leaking out. Stormlight could be held for only a short time, a few minutes at most. It leaked away, the human body too porous a container. He had heard that the Voidbringers could hold it in perfectly. But, then, did they even exist? His punishment declared that they didn’t. His honor demanded that they did." I believe that Szeth is truthless because he went against the beliefs of his people. I believe he was a pretty prodomenant member of the Shin culture (he can lash and has a Shardblade) and he went against their common beliefs and tried to convert others. I think Szeth know's the Everstorm is coming, tried to preach it, got cast out as a truthless (he spoke lies against their beliefs).

Syl being the only Honorspren currently in the Physical Realm
Macen replied to TJK99's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe this WoB is meant to send us down a rabbit hole. From what I have seen on the forums and what I believe myself there are honorspren (Syl) and Honorspren (Spren that are more alligned with Honor). The term honorspren has two meanings depending on the context. -
Although I voted very bad (only becuase of the 2nd half - I think he did something to Jasnah), I don't think he is an all-around bad guy. I equate him very similarly to Jaime Lannister. A character I HATED in the few few books, but has some around to be my second favorite character (Tyrion is probably my favorite character of any book, ever).

Urithiru, the Castle... er, City in the Sky
Macen replied to Colby Jack's topic in Stormlight Archive
The only thing we know about where they are from is the shattered plains. It has been stated numerous times in the books/preview chapters that they lived in the craters that the Alethi now live in. -
Dros, I totally agree - that was the comments I've made implying that (and the convo I referenced in the OP). I think this reinforced the theory. It is also commonly believed that when they broke their oathpact it somehow corrupted them (or something has corrupted them) aka why Darkness hunts KR.
