I'm assuming that Honor's intent was warping their personality and some other things. Things like Allomancy and a Nahel Bond work by filling cracks in your spirit web. I'm imagining that being heralds for so long was essentially turning them into mega savants. There was too much investiture in their spiritweb to be contained within the normal cracks. Keep in mind at this point they also had a direct connection to Honor giving them infinite investiture, that would be similar to drawing on Preservations mists 24-7 which is extremely damaging as mentioned above. Them having pure investiture bodies probably would have given them a higher tolerance but after thousands of years I'm assuming their spiritweb was literally being broken apart as new cracks were being forced open to better contain their power. The TLR was able to use the Well to make him a extra powerful Mistborn and he didn't have any issues so I'm assuming you can modify your spirit web to allow more room for investiture without having it take over other important parts. Tanavast is shown to be kind of a dummy though so he probably didn't consider the consequences of what he was doing till it was too late. I'm wondering if the heralds still have this issue in the current setting as it appears in Shinovar it was only Oduim's investiture and their own PTSD that was corrupting them. It's possible that Oduim's and Honor's power had the same effect of warping their personality and now that Oduim's connection to them is broken and they don't have infinite investiture from Honor anymore they will be fine but I guess we just have to wait for book 6. In summary too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Hopefully one of the Shards realizes this one day.

I have gotten Skybreaker every time I've taken the quiz and its gone up from 70% a few years ago to 80-90% now. I usually get Elsecaller in second and I'm a terrible Lightweaver (That's fine with me though as most of them are storming criminals that need to be brought to justice. Looking at you Gaz). Justice and discipline are very important to me but I think my Elsecaller side makes me a bit to focused on serving myself instead of serving the law.

What are the boundaries of the soul?
Lord Ruler Sylphrena replied to Lord Ruler Sylphrena's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Cinder King is a very good example of what I'm going for. When it comes to size of the soul I'm thinking what is the largest thing you can have with only a single soul. Kalad's Phantoms probably have a single soul at this point but if wonder if you get a living version, that way you could heal armor and clothes with regrowth potentially. Father Machine is very good at absorbing souls but I'm wondering if you could do that without killing the person your absorbing. My ideal combination is the hive mind function of the Charred. The scale of the father machine and the form of kalad's phantoms. Edit: I'm not sure if the Charred are a true hive mind but rather under a form of hemalurgic control. The shadows on Komashi still retain some of their individuality which isn't ideal. The Cinder King and Father Machine seem to be able to control souls rather then fully subsume them and make them part of themselves. They are pretty close though and are relevant examples. The true ideal version is probably the sleepless but I'm envisioning using humans instead of hordelings. -
In the Emperor's soul it is said that a wall has a single soul or being as it has been perceived as one thing for so long. If inanimate objects can have souls and cognitive perception can expand the boundaries of that soul what is the largest soul you can have? Could a building have a single soul? Could a country or a world have a single soul? Theoretically if there is a pair of twins that share memories with coppermind could they combine their souls? If you are a bondsmith or a feruchemist that can manipulate connection and identity would you be able to absorb the souls of potentially hundreds of people if you are skilled enough? Would you be able to combine your soul with a inanimate one and become a stone golem or something? This could lead to you becoming a hivemind like a sleepless or allowing you to perform massive soul forgings/regrowth's that can affect many people at once. I'm aware that this would be absurdly difficult to pull off but it does appear very possible. Unless there are different rules for living and non-living souls you should be to affect peoples perception enough given enough time.

Mixing and splitting Investiture
Lord Ruler Sylphrena replied to Grubfriend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This has been a nightmare for me to try and figure out. I would say it's because you can't make Harmonium by alloying Atium and Lerasium. The metal itself is its own thing but the power is an alloy of Ruin and Preservation. My guess is splitting Harmonium splits Harmony's power which destroys the metal and reforms the remaining investiture into Atium and Lerasium. Warlight is weird but its possible light just works differently the godmetals. -
Yeah my eyes are naturally sensitive to light anyways so it not as concerning as it seems (I usually wear sunglasses even on days with good sleep because its more comfortable). Todays pretty rough but luckily I don't have homework so hopefully I can catch up on sleep. Despite saying this its 50/50 on whether I'm getting more then 5 hours. The call of Balatro is too strong for me sometimes. I'll try to have self control though.

Hello! I've only played Elden Ring and DS3 but I'm attempting to beat Sekiro and Blood-Born (I can't parry to save my life though). What was your favorite boss and area in a Soulsborn? Mine is Consort Radahn (Stayed up till 6:30 after beating him around 12:30 from pure adrenaline) and Ring City. Also for new Souls players don't worry about getting good. You can use spirit summons/player summons, OP builds, and grinding for levels to make the game as easy as you want.

Sleep is the worst. Its inefficient. I have no time for sleep as I must continue to pursue new high scores in Balatro (I have gotten to e30) while procrastinating my actual work. Watching Call of the Night (It's an anime its pretty good) has given me further credence that my nocturnal ways are superior and the problem is with society. I'm am being discriminated against by the foolish daywalkers. They cannot fathom the levels of productivity I achieve at 2:00am. I have become unable to go outside without wearing sun glasses due to the brightness (I'm wearing Sunglasses indoors now because its to bright). The problem is I'm tired between Noon till 5pm but after I power through that I ascend and gain unlimited energy. I live in hope though that one day we can pull a Castlevania and live in eternal night maybe then I can finally get more then 5 hours. I'm falling asleep even as I'm writing this btw. Good luck to all of you my fellow insomniacs.

I'm doing alright. I'm waiting for Steel Speedster and Lunamor to finish their interaction before coming back. It's probably going to be a couple hours of in universe time before my character comes back though so if anyone wants to have a interaction with Sunwatcher during that time that would be great. The more allies my character has the happier he is so let me know in the collaboration thread if anyone wants to RP.

Which Shard would you want?
Lord Ruler Sylphrena replied to Steel Speedster's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Dominion for sure. A lot of shards like Harmony, Honor, and Oduim struggle to rule their planets because their intents drive them crazy or have them make irrational decisions. The only thing you need to do with Dominion is rule which is what I would want to do if I had a shard. It's not going to be a shard that will drive you to conquer/destroy the Cosmere as it doesn't have any Ambition. (Ambition and Dominion being Conquest sounds like a awesome shard though). Autonomy would be second choice as it's a very similar shard and creating a lot of avatars sounds dope. No way I'm picking Ruin though for obvious reasons. Whimsy and Reason also sound like shards I would love initially but quickly get sick of. -
Kelsier: the memecoin scam
Lord Ruler Sylphrena replied to Nitpicking's topic in General Brandon Discussion
As Kelsier famously once said: "There is always another rug pull." It is now confirmed that the Ghostbloods will be the main villians of era 3 when they try to spread the dominance of CosmereCoin. -
Vane, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar He hadn't expected her to hesitate like this but Vane realized he should have. People that were born with power or had it handed to them didn't realize how precious it was, how easy it was to be hurt when you were without it. He had learned that lesson many times. The acquisition of power was never evil only what you decided to do with it. Peoples hang-ups when it came to hemalurgy were something he would never understand. This wasn't a huge loss though as it felt wrong offering a spike to somebody that was already blessed enough to become a twinborn. Still the fact that this criminal had principles even if they were ones he disagreed with was somewhat admirable. It would be excellent if she agreed to work with him but at least he wasn't losing anything if she decided to flee back to the Mistwarrens. "Very well I can accept this," Vane said. "Do know that my patience isn't infinite and neither is my generosity. When I return I expect a answer without hesitation." Vane really wished that people would just listen to him without him having to go to all this trouble. That was one of the main reasons he decided to acquire Rioting instead of a more combat focused power. Even so he went to leave the building in high spirits. He could tell at least part of her wanted the power and his Rioting would make sure she picked the correct answer. The fresh air and warm daylight of the main streets welcomed him as he left the bar. Hiding out in abandoned buildings and spiking people in the night didn't suit him even if they were often necessary unpleasantries. He looked up and wondered what his lifesense was picking up as he ventured outside, probably a bird or something. It wasn't worth worrying about in a few hours he'd have his answer and then he could begin hunting whoever was behind what was going on.
-
Vane, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar Her not having any information was unfortunate. Still having a competent ally was worthwhile to as he definitely was not equipped to handle whoever he was up against alone. At the very least they weren't involved with whoever was behind the recent events. Vane didn't like the though of having wasted a whole day and he still did have one last card to play even if it was a little risky. He sighed, hopefully this would go over well but he had to dispose of more then one partner in the past due to some foolish moral objections. Luckily there wasn't a threat of her running to the guards this time. "I understand you not having a stake in what's going on here," Vane said. "However if you are not truly opposed to working with me I believe I can offer you a stake, or rather a spike in exchange for your assistance." Vane unbuttoned his coat and with a flourish revealed 3 gleaming spikes of metal protruding from his torso. "These three are mine but whether it be a fortune of breath or stronger allomancy all of it is within my power to offer you."
-
Vane, New Hallandren, Abandoned Bar Vane had been prepared for her to run away on the spot but things were progressing better then expected, no need for Rioting after all. However just because there was no need doesn't mean it would be helpful. As he spoke he sent soft waves of trust and relaxation to wash over this stranger, better safe then sorry after all. "The current state of New Hallandren is unacceptable. Whatever is truly causing the lockdown is something serious enough to be kept under wraps. I'm not sure who has the information I'm looking for but it appears you or your associate had inkling as to what was going on if you were willing to make such a brazen entrance. I have the skills to keep the guards from coming after you if you can give me the info I want or lead me to someone who can." Vane kept his breath steady but he was anxious of the fact that he was now moving into murky waters. Hopefully this was a gamble that would pay off.

Sounds good. Sorry for interfering with any plans you made. Also is Eza already in New Halladran? If not does she know anyone that could get her past the checkpoint?
-
Vane, New Halladran. Vane was carefully assessing the situation. With the district under lockdown he had felt suffocated as the people in other districts were making plays for power while he simply had to sit back and rot. At least that was what he thought when two Metalborn launched themselves past the checkpoint while evading capture from even the district's elite officers. One of them had launched themselves who knows where but after a bit of searching, his lifesense had picked up signals coming from one of the abandoned bars that closed down when the lockdown removed the patronage of people from other districts. Situations like this were like white on black and Vane knew whoever would risk breaching the checkpoint had a good reason for being in New Halladran. After clearing some debris he made his way up and into the building. It filled with trash and dust, Vane had to plug his nose given how unbearable his divine breath was making this. It was one of many instances were his enhanced senses had come back to bite him and he hoped he would return to the overly perfumed stalls of the main streets quickly. Luckily the air began to clear through a hole in the top floor of the building. That was when he spotted a silhouette that had a number of vials and metalminds on their person. Vane smiled and greeted them. "Excuse me I apologize for your cold reception to New Halladran. I go by Sunwatcher the Fair and I hope we may be able to assist each other".
-
Okay though just so you know Vane doesn't really broadcast that information publicly and he wears a lot of clothing to conceal his spikes. I've also all ready written and am about to post a scene where Vane runs into where Fenna is hiding. I'll try to make him seem as trustworthy as possible as to not interfere with your character but I also don't really want to delay making my first story post any longer.
-
@Steel Speedster Assuming episode 2 has provided a very brief time skip it's safe to say Fenna has evaded the cops. I'm fully ready to bring in Vane now but I'm wondering what part of New Halladran Fenna is currently in or if she still in the same area as episode 1. Let me know where Vane would run into her or we can say Vane used his lifesense to track her down after she caught his eye during her chase. I can have Vane run into her before or after she meets Eza. @Lunamor Sense both our characters are probably going to be meeting Fenna at the same time how do you think Eza would interact with Vane? I know you mentioned she wants to track down some hemalurgists and sense Vane is a hemalurgist himself he might have some insights as to how to locate them.

This is a very cool idea but I'm leaning against it. As the idea comes from non-canon material its hard to say if the result will be as described. What Brandon appears to be suggesting is after spiking a sprens connection to the CR you then give the spren a spike that has a connection to the PR. This forces them to manifest in the physical realm and then the spikes will physically hold them in place. Ishar probably used his bondsmith powers to get a similar result. Making sure a spren doesn't gain a physical form and goes into a object instead would probably would require using a additional spike. A nicrosil spike should work as sprens bodies are made of investiture (I think) and a nicrosil spike would absorb that. This might imbue objects with the properties of the spren but I think it is far more likely that the spren dies from being spiked and loses its properties. Ishars method was already lethal and hemalurgy severely lowers chances of survival. Hemalurgy is a fun system but I think you will have to rely on fabrials for harnessing the power of spren. As even if you find a way to keep the spren alive the damage will be significant and I doubt the spren will be cooperative. I'm also not sure how you would get spikes to form shardplate as spikes need to be stored in blood to retain strength and we have only seen the properties of spikes granted to people and not objects. One cool thing you could do theoretically is becoming a cognitive shadow through hemalurgy. If you manage to spike whatever part of a spren has connection to the CR you could fully or partially transform your body to be like that of a spren. Best case scenario you might gain the sprens agelessness and the ability to reform after being injured.

Sounds good. Vane doesn't want to be hung out to dry so I don't think he would want to meet Leon if he did see him abandon Fenna. You can expect Vane to be making his entrance soon though.
-
My character can definitely help with you getting past the checkpoints in the future but your going to have to ditch 80% of the guards before he is willing to help. Emotional Allomancy also won't help much now given how aggressive your entrance was. You might honestly have better luck escaping from jail if your able to hold on to some of your metals. Splitting up briefly till things settle down might also be a smart move. If you leave the district and come back with some disguises Vane is capable of rioting trust within a couple of border guards to let you in.
-
Nice let me know when you want him to show up (Maybe after you escape the cops) and we can see if he can help you with what your characters have planned. If Leon is meeting with the UFO to get anti-light I would definitely want Vane to tag along if Leon is cool with that.
