  1. I distract legolas with a cardboard cutout of Tauriel and steal the sandwich.
  2. @Koloss17 Sorry if this character is a little shallow. I don't really have practice writing, and this is the first rp I've tried.
  3. Greetings, and welcome to the Shard! Is there any specific feruchemical ability you would want?
  4. Welcome! Have you read any of Wax and Wayne? If so:
  5. "If any man says to his wife, 'calm down,' he has already lost." -Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
  6. GREETINGS. Love the pronouns BTW.
  7. Just finished the book. I don't know what to say other than that I'm stunned. I anticipated some of that, but wow. Just wow. What a crescendo. Can't wait for book six. Kaladin is one of my favorite characters and to see him finally reach the fifth oath was supremely satisfying.
  8. No. It's an abomination. I enjoy the mystery. We haven't really seen much interaction with Highspren. They are strange and aloof. Where other spren form emotional relationships with their knights, Highspren are different. They are an anomaly. Other radiant spren seem to unanimously detest them, but no one has said why yet. They watch. Hold on. Are you talking about Highspren or starspren? I think I changed to starspren, but I'm seeing Highspren when you quoted me. Either way, they're both awesome.
  9. Individually, probably brass for allomancy and either steel or chromium for feruchemy. If I were Twinborn, I'd probably be double chromium. I also think it would be fun to be Twinborn with Bendalloy and chromium because then you could shoot out of speed bubbles with a moderate chance of success. Cognitive realm star spren. Hmm... Probably either Scadrial or Sel. We haven't seen Yolen though, so I don't know for sure. Yes! A fellow Hoid fan! What is my least favorite character? Hmm... Good question. Are we counting non-Cosmere? If so, then Alcatraz. I find him annoying. He spends too much of the story whining and saying how terrible he is and then proceeds to strut about with the biggest ego on the planet. As for Cosmere characters, probably early Shallan. She gets better, but I always find her boring at first. Her story starts to get more interesting to me around when she gets poisoned. Your last question is just silly. Of course I like bagels. PS: Your signature says you are reading The Name of the Wind. Just read that about a month back. Great book. Two thumbs up.
  10. Hello there. I was first introduced to Sanderson by a friend who got me to read the Alcatraz vs the evil librarians series. A few years later, (I think I was about ten) I discovered The Stormlight Archive. I enjoyed it immensely. I was not aware of the Cosmere at this point. I read and reread Stormlight several times before eventually looking for more works by Brandon. I read the Rithmatist, the Steelheart trilogy, and finally, Mistborn. While I was reading Mistborn, I stumbled across Hoid. I had already decided after reading Stormlight that there was more to Hoid than meets the eye, but I had not expected to find him jumping between books. It was at this point that I did some digging and discovered the Cosmere. Over the last few years, I have been pursuing the Cosmere and it's secrets. It has become my obsession. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time for leisure reading, but I have almost finished reading all of the Cosmere currently in existence. I believe that the only books I have yet to read are the second half of Bands of Mourning and The Lost Metal. My favorite character is Hoid.
  11. That's what I was thinking. I would be surprised if we don't see this in mistborn era 3. Probably being used by the main antagonist. I assume that the main characters of era 3 are going to have to figure out how to defeat some organization of people who all have feruchemical powers being constantly renewed by prisoners who can't fight back because they're being held in stasis by steel and zinc minds while their other attributes are being leeched. The idea of leeching metalminds seems terrifyingly close to hemalurgy. Except with these, you don't have to kill some one to get power from them. You can just milk them for their lifeforce, their youth, their memories, and their very identity near indefinitely. It's a terrifying idea indeed. I'll have to see if there are any WOBs on this.
  12. I wonder if someone could use an unkeyed metalmind attached to a piece of Raysium to leech attributes from someone. Example: a crossbow bolt made from an unkeyed steel mind with a Raysium tip. If you shot it at someone, would it steal speed from them and put them in a sort of stasis so long as the bolt is in them? Or if you did the same thing with copper to read/wipe someone's memories?
  13. I have read most of the Cosmere, but I don't remember this event. What is TLM?
  14. This is just out of curiosity, and perhaps something to ask Brandon, but you know how holding Dawnshards or large amounts of investiture alters your spirit web? I was wondering: If you stamp yourself with a soulstamp and then gain access to a dawnshard or temporarily ascend or something similar, could it alter your spirit web using the stamp as a guide and make the effects of the soulstamp permanent?
  15. What about Dor? In the sunlit man, the Scadrian researchers have a jar a Dor. It also appears in Secret History in the possession of the Ire. I have a few questions about this. How is it harvested? Can it be harvested by someone other than an Elantrian? How difficult is it to harvest and store? And finally, how strong is it compared with stormlight? Zellion seemed to imply that if he had gotten his hands on it, it would have given him a considerable amount of investiture.
  16. This is very helpful. As to which books I have read: I believe the only cosmere books I haven't read are second era Mistborn and whichever book takes place on Threnody. (Though I am currently reading Arcanum Unbounded, so I should get to that one today. I don't recall what it is called.) It is possible that I am missing some, but I am not certain. I'll just try and list the ones I've completed. Stormlight 1-4 Mistborn era 1 Elantris. (And Hope of Elantris) Warbeaker The Emperor's Soul Tress of the Emerald Sea The Sunlit Man Yumi and The Nightmare Painter Dawnshard Edgedancer White Sand 1 and 2 Allomancer Jak The Eleventh Metal (Come to think of it, I think I've finished all of Arcanum except for Threnody one.) I believe that's all, though it's possible I've forgotten one or two. I think the only ones I haven't read are Threnody and Mistborn era 2. Tell me if there are more.
  17. Makes sense. I assume Kelsier and Rashek do not have fifth-heightening-esque immortality, however, as Rashek required the Bands of Mourning to continue living as long as he did. I find it odd that the agelessness afforded to those with the fifth heightening doesn't seem to apply to people holding large amounts of other types of Investiture. Unless it does and I'm just not paying attention. (EDIT) Hold on. If Kelsier and Thaidakar are the same person as I suspect, that would mean that Kelsier is, at least to an extent, immortal. That does still leave the question of the Lord Ruler's dependence on the Bands of Mourning, however.
  18. Interesting. I have yet to read the second Mistborn arc, but I can guess from Secret History that Kelsier returns to the physical realm using hemalurgy. Since he is also a cognitive shadow, would he require Investiture to keep him alive as well? Or is it different for him due to his having held Preservation for a short time?
  19. I think this is rather self-explanatory. Returned require one breath a week to survive. Does it have to be breath? For instance, could Zahel survive with one BEU of stormlight a week?
  20. I am new to this site so maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like Dalinar would make the most sense by far as Honor. There are several reasons I think this, although perhaps this has already been discussed. 1. He is a Bondsmith with powers previously unheard of in a bondsmith. 2. He is bonded to the Stormfather, who seems to have picked up a large portion of Honor's Investiture when he was splintered. 3. Perhaps this was just confusion on the part of Rayse, but when Dalinar opens the perpendicularity for the first time, I can't remember the exact words, but Rayse says something along the lines of: "No. We killed you. We killed you!" I hypothesize that Odium saw Honor's Investiture condensing and assumed that the Shard was reforming, but Rayse was not fully stable at the time, so it is possible that he was mistaken. (EDIT) I am not sure if Dalinar could pick up the Shard without a desire for power. It is noted throughout the series that Dalinar has a second-natured tendency to seize power and control. I am not certain if this would effect him as he doesn't seem to want power in the strictest sense. It's not as if he is fighting for power, it's more that he simply assumes that he can do whatever he wants and nobody stops him. I am not sure how the Shard would react to this mindset. It's possible that it only reacts poorly to greed, but would not be effected by entitlement.
  21. It should also be noted that Shallan had some training with Tyn before becoming a spy. While this doesn't account for all of her skill, it certainly gave her a head start.
