  1. Gravitation, division, and abrasion would be pretty good.
  2. I don't think these are universal rules. It's Honor's Investiture that's going to be used, so that's why 10 (or 16 since it's the most important to the Cosmere as a whole) would be best, and 5 is weak because symmetry is important to Honor.
  3. I assume you're referencing this WoB? This could just mean that not all Shards express their number in their magic system or the cultures on their planet. I think this other WoB supports this: I don't think we can necessarily assume that Tanavast the person, rather than the Shard Honor liked 10. I think it's at least equally possible that the Shard itself is inclined towards the number 10. I personally think that Ruin's number is 11. It crops up a lot in relation to Ruin's influence.
  4. So Notum picked up a set of Unoathed Shards. Does that mean that he’s somehow bonded to a (former) deadeye spren, in the same way that Adolin is bonded to Maya? That raises a lot of questions for me. If this is possible, then could a spren become a Knight Radiant by bonding another spren? Or, even weirder, could two spren bond each other and both become Radiants? Maybe the weirdest of all, could you nest Nahel bonds and have a human bonded to a spren, bonded to another spren?
  5. Before this era started, I hadn’t really realized that UFO would be focused almost exclusively on New Hallandren for the time being, so I figured a Rosharan agent focused on the Knights Radiant would make sense. I could actually just swap her short and long term motivations. That way, taking down the KR is more of something that she wants to do someday, once UFO is more powerful, rather than something that she’s currently working on. Would that help?
  6. I’m not entirely sure. Jerrin will probably spend a good amount of this era investigating things. Obviously, Perses is not actually the person he’s looking for, but he’s unlikely to know that for sure before meeting him, and he would almost certainly oppose him anyway. At this point, I’m thinking that it might work best to wait for the plot to open up an opportunity for them to meet—we don’t need to specifically set up a situation where that can happen, right now. But I will let you know if I have any ideas later on. If it would be helpful for you to give Perses something to do, though, my characters would be open for interaction if you have any ideas. (I originally had some things planned with Longshot, but he hasn’t been on here for a while, so for now I don’t have anything specific planned.)
  7. I'll just put this here: Trant
  8. Jerrin, Mistwarrens, Undisclosed Meeting Location Jerrin Tridner stepped into a small room, furnished with nothing but a desk and a set of chairs. A man with grizzled brown hair and a scarred face sat behind the desk, fiddling with a small handgun. "Jerrin!" he said, smiling cordially and leaning back in his chair. "It's been some time." Jerrin nodded curtly. "Trant." He sat down on the opposite side of the desk. "You have the information I requested?" A cloud of ghostly images floated around the room, splitting and fading constantly as possibilities came and went. Jerrin kept his electrum as constantly as he could afford to. He didn't think Trant would try anything--they had known each other for some time and shared a mutual respect--but he never took unnecessary risks. "I'm afraid there's not much to be had," said Trant. "We have few close-up eye-witness accounts of the man. All that we can confirm is that he is indeed spiked--iron and steel, we suspect--and likely carries a large number of Breaths." Rusts. That wasn't enough to go on. The Inquisitor Jerrin was hunting hadn't carried Breaths as far as he could tell, but that didn't preclude him having picked them up more recently. "What else can you tell me?" Jerrin pressed. "That's really all we know I'm afraid," said Trant, shrugging. "Look, Trant," Jerrin snapped, suddenly leaning forward across the desk. "I need this information." For a brief moment, Jerrin's electrum shadows multiplied, bursting in all directions, before fading back to normal. Jerrin was probably one of the few people who knew of Trant's abilities for certain. Feruchemical chromium interfered with electrum, revealing that the informant had tapped Fortune. Jerrin leaned back, feeling slightly satisfied that Trant was wary of him. Trant raised his eyebrows. "There is nothing more of use that I can tell you," he repeated, testily. "I can't give you information that I don't know." "I hope you don't expect me to pay for this then," Jerrin said. "I'd already heard these rumors." Trant chuckled. "Oh, I wouldn't charge you for this. Consider it a favor to an old associate. You'd do the same for me, I'm sure." Jerrin narrowed his eyes. "I'm not going to owe you any 'favors', Trant." "I never said that," Trant said evasively. "By the way, did you hear about the lockdown in New Hallandren?" "New Hallandren is none of my concern," Jerrin grunted. "I know," Trant said, turning to stare out the window. "Still--troubled times." With that he fell silent, and Jerrin left the room without a word. * * * Jerrin stepped out into the street keeping his electrum burning. He hadn't learned anything he hadn't already known or heard rumored. The spike-eyed new crime lord of the Mistwarrens was his only lead. Either he was the same Inquisitor who had massacred Jerrin's team, or his true quarry had managed to disappear without a trace.
  9. @Koloss17 What is Perses’ publicity at this point? Would most characters be aware of him or not?
  10. After thinking about it overnight, I have decided to go ahead and post this character.
  11. Okay. Maybe I’ll just wait for a bit before deciding. I forgot about using NPCs. That’ll help.
  12. @SpiritOfWrath I believe the character limit is 5. I myself am tempted to add a 4th, but I don’t want to over saturate the RP. @Koloss17 @Stormlightsong Would it be helpful to have another UFO character? (There don’t seem to be a lot of them.) I did start working on one a while ago, but I don’t really need another character.
  13. I've thought about these two combinations before, and I think A-pewter/F-tin is actually way better overall. One problem with A-tin/F-pewter is that F-pewter doesn't balance out A-tin's oversensitivity in the way that A-pewter does, which can be bad in a fight. On the other hand, F-tin can fine tune each sense to exactly what you need, so it doesn't really have any disadvantages with A-pewter compared to A-tin (except needing to be stored.) Additionally, A-pewter has some things that F-pewter lacks: greater reaction time, greater balance, greater mobility, greater healing. However, the problem is that F-pewter can beat out A-pewter's strength, so in a simple fight between these two, A-pewter/F-tin has to play really evasively, or else F-pewter/A-tin can just crush him. I think the outcome would depend on how tactical the two fighters were. F-pewter/A-tin can become stronger than the opponent, but also more weaknesses to exploit and a limited amount of strength stored up. Yeah, that fourth quadrant is pretty unbalanced. F-gold is the only particularly good Feruchemical power, and it also happens to be one of the worst Allomantic powers. How about a Lurcher/Pinnacle vs. an Oracle/Skimmer?
  14. Yes. I did mention in my original post that there could be other ways. In that response, I was pointing out that we only know one way to split godmetal, and it is not applicable to Roshar. And yeah, I think this discussion is pretty much resolved. If Sazed is capable of producing more lerasium, then Taravangian can produce Raysium.
  15. Splitting harmonium requires trellium, which isn’t available on Roshar. Additionally, it may only have worked on harmonium due to its unstable nature.
  16. I actually found a WoB that suggests that Retribution would still be capable of producing raysium.
  17. We don’t know where exactly raysium came from, but now that Odium and Honor are merged, will the resulting new godmetal (taravangium?) be the only thing available? Obviously, pre-existing raysium should still be available, but there’s implied to not be too much of it. Raysium seems to be the main way to effectively utilize anti-light, so it should be a very important resource at this point. Unlike harmonium, there won’t be an easy way to split taravangium to get its components. For one thing, trellium isn’t available on Roshar, and for another, it likely wouldn’t work on taravangium anyway, since the two Shards that make up Retribution are not in conflict as they are with Harmony. However, since it seems to be possible to separate hybrid lights into their components (although I don’t think we’ve seen that yet), it might be possible to do the same to their solid form, in which case we could also see some tanavastium.
  18. @Koloss17 Would it be possible to have a place with any easy to read list of characters? I’ve been trying to look for characters that mine could potentially collaborate with, but it’s kind of hard since the majority of this thread is feedback and revisions. Could we have a thread for the era where people post their characters after they get approved? That way we could just see all the characters without any additional clutter. I can manage without it of course, but I think it would be helpful.
  19. Hmmm. Yes, I suppose that technically they would qualify. That would be a bit of a sneaky answer, but that's not unheard of for Brandon. It's possible, but if Reason had ejected its vessel, it seems like it would be difficult to go about finding a replacement while still staying under the radar.
  20. The fourth moon has to have hit the planet very early on though, right? That would have been a devastating event, so it must have happened before the Singers were even around, and they predate the Shattering, which means that there would have been no Shards at that point anyway.
  21. We have this WoB: This was before RoW, so at this time, we hadn't seen any Ascensions outside of Scadrial. Now that we know all the Shards I was wondering if we could figure out which ones this WoB might be referring to. Dominion: Aona and Skai were killed a fairly short time after the Shattering, and obviously, there have been no holders of either Shard since then. Devotion: (same as Dominion) Preservation: Preservation is one of the Shards already excluded by the WoB. Ruin: (same as Preservation) Odium: At the time of the WoB, Rayse was still the vessel of Odium, and we know that he was the original vessel. Honor: (same as Odium) Cultivation: Koravellium Avast was the original vessel and still holds the Shard. Endowment: According to the Coppermind, Edgli was the original vessel of Endowment, but I can't find any citations that specifically say so, so potentially she is not. However, her familiarity with Hoid would suggest that they knew each other prior to the Shattering. Autonomy: We have a WoB stating that Bavadin is the original holder. (See below.) Ambition: Uli Da was a Sho Del, a species from Yolen, and was killed early on, which basically confirms her to have been the only holder. Invention: We know from Tanavast's POV that Chan Ko Sar was the original vessel of Invention. Technically, however, we have no confirmation that this person is still the vessel. On the other hand, it seems that Invention may not have really settled anywhere, which would reduce the chances for any change of vessel to have taken place. Mercy: One of the few Shards we don't even know the vessel's name. However, we do know that Mercy was involved in the clash between Odium and Ambition, and Sazed's letter would seem to imply that this is the same vessesl. Valor: Sazed's letter seems to imply that Hoid is familiar with the vessel of Valor. Additionally, from Tanavast's POV, we know that the original vessel was Medelantorius, a dragon, which leads me to wonder if the dragon referred to in this WoB and the Shard referred to in this WoB are the same person... Whimsy: One of the Shards we don't even know the vessel's name. In fact, we know basically nothing. Virtuosity: Virtuosity splintered herself. I don't think we know when this happened, so there was potentially enough time for a change of vessel, but we also know that she didn't stay in one place long, which, as for Invention, would reduce the chances of that. Reason: We know that this Shard has been hiding for a long time, so, assuming that that strategy has been working well, it seems reasonable to assume that Euridrius is still the vessel. In conclusion, I think Whimsy is a fairly likely candidate, mainly because we know so little about that Shard. Invention and Viruosity are possibilities too.
  22. I would assume that the spoiler policy applies here as well, so, unfortunately, we probably have to wait 5 more months before being able to include information from WaT here. On the other hand @KnightSkye, it seems like you should be able to work around the spoiler-ish elements pretty easily. If you really wanted to keep them in, you could probably just put spoiler tags over them. We’ll have to hear what Koloss17 thinks. Btw, I think this thread is mainly for asking a mod to approve a character, so if you’re specifically looking for feedback, the character discussion thread is a better place.
  23. As the Coppermind points out, Aux's original name, 12124, could be thought of as spelling "Aux" if you translate the numbers into letters. (1 = A, 21 = U, 24 = X.) But additionally, I noticed that 1 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 10 (Honor's number) and 1 x 2 x 1 x 2 x 4 = 16 (the "main" Cosmere number). I doubt this is a coincidence, (it's probably just an easter egg though), and I'm seriously impressed that Brandon fit all three of these layers together.
  24. @Lunamor @Ookla the Irreplaceable I’ll also add that two of my characters have a couple of Hemalurgists as a part of their backstory, so there’s some potential for character connections there as well. They could possibly even be part of the same group as the ones from Eza’s backstory. It seems like there’s some solid potential to have a good subplot with this, though, of course, we have to be careful not to let it take over from the main UFO plotline.
