  1. Vin heard the well, though, from massive distances. Weren't the pulses stronger the closest she got to the Well? I don't imagine an Allomancer's pulse being heard from across the world, just if you're very close to him. Maybe even only if you physically touch him. That could be useful.
  2. Well, maybe once the third trilogy is over... although that would be like 20 years from now
  3. Tnx, it makes sense. But that leads me to another question: If Seekers are able to detect rippes in the fabric of creation, why can't they detect Allomancers not burning their metals? Every human has a part of Preservation. That part might be too small to detect normally, but Allomancers have more of Preservation in them. Wouldn't Allomancers create rippels in the fabric of creation around them?
  4. Do you think Brandon would ever release a full Arcanum? I'm talking about a book that would go into lengths explaining the Allomantic, Feruchemical and Hemalurgical properties of each metal. Prehaps even the new snapping process. The main chunk of the book, though, would be a detailed guide to all 256 Twinborn combinations. This include each combo's name, and, if there are any special interactions between a Twinborn's metals, exactly what these interactions are. Seems unlikely, I know, though it woudn't take long to write and could probably be around 100 pages, 150 max.
  5. I don't think we have an answer to this (if so please enlighten me), so I have a theory: It wasn't the well that made the Allomantic beats/pulses, it was the Lerasium beads. Now the next part is going to sound crazy, but bear with me: I think than an exceptionally gifted, trained and savant Seeker would be able to hear the Allomantic beats of every Allomantic metal, even if it isn't being burned. It's just that a powerful metal like Lerasium is easier to be heard. With practice, I expect Atium could be also be heard even if isn't burned, and with much more training and a starting base of powerful Allomancy all other Allomantic metals could also be heard. This is a feat I believe Mistborns would never be able to master as they don't pay much attention to every single metal, and least of all Bronze and Copper. Maybe a double-bronze Mistborn could, but only if they paid special attention to Bronze. Who knows, maybe that's how Steel Inquisitors had such a relatively easy time finding Allomancers. It's a highly inefficient process to only find Allomancers who are currently burning their metal, but if they could hear the metals themselves then they could know, for example, that Skaa X is carrying a Y metal with him. ...or maybe Steel/Iron burners can, with enough practice, discern what metal each of the Allomantic lines represents. But this doesn't answer why would The Well of Ascension produce Allomantic pulses. Edit: And an unrelated question which I don't think justified its own thread: Do Copperclouds stack? I mean, if there are two Smokers next to each other and they're burning Copper, would a double-Bronze Allomancer be able to pierce the double Coppercloud?
  6. Do you think it'll continue Wax's story or will it only introduce new characters? Either way, I think that one of POV's will of be of an Augur or an Oracle, just on the base of the name. For a second I thought this novel will be talking about a Seer, with atium returning in some cool way, but atium shows you shadows of others, not yourself... and given that we've already read of an Augur, I think (and hope) that this time it'll be an Oracle.
  7. This makes the most sense. I assume that having enough breath stored will allow you to run or take part in physical activities, maybe even for hours, with no need to take breaks. Edit: It's a bit straight forward, I know, but I hadn't thought about it before. I thought that being a Gasper would only help you underwater or other unbreathable places and it seemed kinda narrow. But now it's actually pretty awesome and useful daily.
  8. The quote of the wiki already said they can go without breathing, so again, why adding the "or"? the "or" implies there are two different things. My understanding of it is that by tapping breath you can either: 1. Go without breathing. 2. Breathe normally and let the breath you tap oxygenate your blood.
  9. From the wiki: Tapping a cadmiummind allows the user to go without breathing, or to introduce extra oxygen into her bloodstream. I emphasised the "or". If both are the same thing it would have been written differently.
  10. In the AoL Arcanum it says that Gaspers (Cadmium Ferrings) can tap breath to oxygenate their blood. It doesn't say, however, what are the benefits of doing so. So... what are they?
  11. Considering how Spook, a Tin Savant, was able to fight almost as good as if he was burning Atium, I think it's safe to say that a Tin Compounder could be an even better fighter.
  12. Any exploring of yet to be explored or barely explored Allomantic/Feruchemical powers would make an exciting story to me.
  13. I'd actually like future books to be from POV's of people with powers we haven't explored much, like Oracles, Smokers, Leechers, Nicrobursts, and some types of Ferrings.
  14. Got into Brandon's books first with Elantris. The premise of a stand alone fantasy novel was unheard of to me and I was interested on how exactly would an epic fantasy story be wrapped up in one book. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed.
  15. I guess. Still though, it's kind of cheap that you can counter a God Metal with a metal that isn't.
  16. What would your perfect crew in Scadrial be? Let's say in the Alloy of Law era. It could be a lawkeeping crew, a thievery crew, assassination crew or any other type of crew you want. Rules You have 10 points to spend, as follow: *A Misting costs 1 point. *A Ferring costs 1 point. *A Twinborn costs 3 points. *A Twinborn Compounder costs 5 points. *Full Feruchemists, Mistborns, Hemalurgists, Kandra and Koloss are banned. Assume no Atium is available. My crew: The Ghosts (an assassination crew) [5P] I would be an assassin that is a Sentry Seeker- a Bronze Compounder Twinborn. I call this combo a Sentinel. I always liked the idea of being a Seeker in Scadrial as there are a lot of moves you can train to perfection. Knowing if there are Allomancers around would be vital for successful recon missions and later, to the assassination itself. Also, knowing how much metal reserves my opponents have and when they flare their metals would give me an edge in combat. In addition, knowing which of my emotions are being manipulated by Soothers/Rioters would ensure I never fall prey to their Allomancy. Finally, never needing to sleep, always being alert and having superhuman awareness would just be epic. And useful too, of course. [1P] My assassin partner would be a Copper Misting- a Smoker. Having a Coppercloud by my side would ensure my Seeking (and by that my presence) isn't detected by enemy Seekers. [3P] My lookout/sniper would be a Tineye Steelrunner- a Tin/Steel Twinborn. I call this combo a Scout. This one could gather vital information as fast as needed. He could also be on sniper duty, and quickly switch vantage points when the situation arises. [1P] My crew's handler would be a Zinc Ferring- a Sparker. This one, with his ability to quickly sort through data and make split second decisions would be in charge of the operation, and would also be the one that acquires the assassination contracts.
  17. Cool, didn't know there was going to be an AoL sequel. Tnx.
  18. I liked the idea of the Mistborn RPG, but I don't really have anyone to play RPG's with. So I thought, how great would a gamebook be? You know, those "choose your own adventure" style, but the more complex ones that have character creation and dice rolling, like Fighting Fantasy. Making a Mistborn gamebook might seem like a colossal task, I mean what with all the stuff Allomancers and Feruchemists can do at any given time, and the nature of gamebooks which have limited number of options for actions you can take, but I think it could be done. At the very least, if offering readers the ability to have every combination of Twinborn or even just any Misting or Ferring would be too much, then it could have a more linear approach to character creation such as choosing from a select few pre-made characters. If even that proves to be too great of a challenge, then even having no choice and having to use the one character provided would be good. Bear in mind though that even if you get just one character with no choice you could still have some customization, such as allocating points between different stats; the only thing you won't have a choice in the matter is your Allomantic and/or Feruchemical abilties. What do you think?
  19. I'm mainly interested in the second trilogy of Mistborn, though a full timetable would also be nice. (Wouldn't mind knowing when the third trilogy is due for either.)
  20. Does atium protect from behind though? I assume so, but how exactly?
  21. Vin's role in beating atium was only 50% of what was happening. Ther other 50% was Zane's falut, as he put himself into a defensing position before Vin even attempted to attack. Vin noticed that, and changed the attack.
  22. I know it doesn't. I was merely following WeiryWriter's example.
  23. If what you're saying is true, than why are Oracles considered pretty much uselss? According to your logic, if someone points a gun at me and I burn electrum, I can see which shadow doesn't die and follow that one. Why would Mistborns even bother with atium if they can get pretty much the same effect with electrum?
  24. It makes no sense to me. Electrum allows you to see your own future, meaning you see multiple shadows of actions you can take in the next few seconds, and then you take one of them. A Seer, however, should be able to predict what action you will ultimately choose. The reason Atium counters Atium is because it allows you to see into your opponent's future, not your own, meaning you see what he's going to do and by trying to avoid it he can see that you will try it ad infinitum thus creating an Atium stalemate. Also on a completely unrelated note, I think it's sad that Atium Mistings, which can burn the coolest metal on Scadrial which produces perhaps the coolest effect in the all the Cosmere, are called Seers. I could think of much cooler names like Shade or Ghost or even simply Shadow.
  25. Personally I think the benefits of being a tin savant outweight the disatvantages. When you're a tin savant, your senses becomes dull and numb while not burning tin. This could be useful in a plethora of situations: Bad stench? extinguish your tin. You're in pain? extinguish your tin. Nothing to eat but disgusting food? extinguish your tin. Noises too loud? extinguish your tin. Lights too bright? You get the idea. And when you do burn tin, which would be most of the time, you could combat most of the side effects: Outside during the day or in illuminated places you could just wear sunglasses. Modern socks and shoes should dull most if not all of the sensations you might get by stepping on rocks and such, not to mentions modern streets are paved pretty good anyway. You could use ear plugs if noises are too distracting, or in-ear hedphones if you're outside and don't want to look weird, etc. And that's without even taking into account the useful factors of being a Tin savant, like seeing in near complete darkness, seeing clearly from a massive distance, having much more pleasure in eating tasty food, hearing people whisper from a distance, and having much more sensation is certain... activities. Not to mention being able to fight almost as if you were burning atium (we saw Spook doing it).
