    You can have a career you don't like. Let's say you have a hobby of drawing. Great! You can't easily make a job out of it though, and so you don't feel a huge need to improve. You're fine where you're at, and so you do it for fun. (like me!) Lots of people go into things they don't like because they know it'll make them money. Is that what you're asking?
