We saw in "Wind and truth" that Hemalurgy far exceeds only metals, but can also be used with gemstones. So I have some questions. First of all. Do some hemalurgy experts, maybe some kandra know about it? Like they are using crystal bodies that were confirmed to be capable of holding stormlight. So there is some argument that they know or maybe the lord ruler knew. Another thing. If gemhearts are capable of doing that. Maybe other materials that we previously believed incapable of being used as spikes. Can be used as well? For example we mostly asume, you cannot use silver for spikes, because it is not part of the 16 in some form a godmetal or alloy. So perhaps just the right knowledge/intent was missing? After all, aluminum can be used to an extent too even if it is an outlier among the metals, just like Silver. Do you believe that gemstones can be used in allomancy or feruchemy? Maybe by a full feruchemist or Mistborn? Or maybe it could be developed? Does it matter if the gemspike is pefect or not? Does it leak its investiture if not?

Electrum is not only good against future visions of overs. You can see your own future shadow and if what you see you dislike, it will change. It is much weaker than atium as you only see your own shadow. But you can see things like: „if you run into a trap“ or „if you are gonna get stabbed and where“ It allows one to evade attacks pretty nicely. Just not strack against someone.
-
Dont forget. Marsh is an Oracle as well. He can use electrum to see his own future. As a spike that grants atium burning abilities grants as well electrum burning.

Can Heralds uses surges without the blades?
Sythrin replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
In his battle with Kaladin. Kaladin could have sworn that he would have hit, 1 or 2 times after he grit hismteeth. But for some reason his spear missed. I believe Nale even mentioned something like that he could do more than surges. I will look it up. chapter 109. Kaladin described it as Nale becoming incredibly fast. Fast enough to blur. And Nale even mentioned the „true skill of a Herald“. Is this purely combat prowess that they acumulated over centuries? -
Can Heralds uses surges without the blades?
Sythrin replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No I meant like after the oathpact was formed. Honor mentioned that, they relied less on him for power and started to get access from the planet itself. -
It was implied that over time the Heralds made a connection to Roshar, which allowed them to use the surges without accessing Honor. Can they as well do that without the blades? P.s. Does anybody know what Nale during his duel with Kaladin? It seemed like the microkenisis that is sometimes mentioned.

I have some open questions. Maybe you can explain them to me. 1. What is up with the 4th moon? 2. Why is there a Shardpool at the Shattered plains if Ishar claimed that Odiums was in Shinovar. 3. How did Talns sword get to Shinovar? 4. What exactly can you now do with Tension? We saw it at the fused but the Radiant can stiffen fabric for example with it. But is that not much weaker, once you unlock Shardplate? 5. What was up with Jasnah childhood? Why was she improsined? 6. Is Shallan pregnant? 7. Was Renarins vision of the Heralds and among them was Kaladin and Syl. Does it mean that Syl is now coperal? 8. How did Ishi make Spren corporal? How did he give them bodies and why did he had these experiments in the mountains in RoW and not in Shinovar? 9. Why is the sky clouded now on Roshar? What reason does Retribution have to make all the land sun deprived? 10. Will Flora and Fauna now die on Roshar? 11. Was Ashy destroyed through Devision and basicly the atmosphere was set ablaze, like how the scientist feared when they created the nukes? 12. What is up with Moash now? 13. Can you use normal gems. One that are framed from mines, used just the same way as those from animals? 14. Why would the Heralds ever return to Roshar? The moment they give up the oathpact again, couldnt Retribution just suck up all the spren? 15. Have I understood right, already bonded dead shardplate can now be summoned and does not need stormlight, but non bonded blade cannot be bonded and plate cannot be repaired? 16. What was the point of going into the visions? I dont understand Cultivations plan. 17. What can the black fisher exactly do now? 18. What does the 5th ideal do exactly? 19. Will Jezriens sword change, because it was not part of the new oathpact? 20. Was the small part that splintered from Honor made into Kaladins spear? 21. Can Retribution not just destroy the Heralds the moment they leave their oathpact, as he has authority over all of Honor? Just like Odium could have destroyed the Fused or remade an Unmade? EDIT: 5th I meant Jasnah.

Did Brandon retcon the fact that you cannot jump over ideals with Szeths 5th ideal? Reinhartmax1 What happens if a Radiant is ready to swear an Ideal above the one they can't swear (i.e. a Windrunner who can swear the Fourth Ideal but not the Third)? Brandon Sanderson They would have to wait until they can swear the Third. YouTube Spoiler Stream 3 (Dec. 16, 2021)

Interesting that you write that now. We recently had a WoB, where he told us one of dragons powers. They can manipulate the emotions of their followers similar to how emotional allomancy works. (dont know how to reference here WoB)

So its air tight? Hmm interesting. So it can be used to create airsealing during a spaceship breach? But than my question comes up, if they are air tight, than how do explosions work physcily? In "alloy of law" I believe, that Wayne opens a speedbubble to win them time from a suicide bomber. But they new the fire/pressure/energy would still come to them. Would it be just be able to enter but not leave? If the later is true, what would happen if we create an allomantic grenade and pump it full with a speedbubble, for lets say to make it run for at least in an hour internally. And than we put a bomb inside it. What would happen? Or open a gas tank that fills it with gas. Would on the edge the gas condense and than leave the bubble again? Another thing with timebubbles but I am not sure if it is a physicy question is about the movements of bubbles when the allomancer has a significant movement, than the bubbles get that as well. If you are to slow but still are in a vehicle, it could damage it. If a mistborn opens a smaller slowbubble and a bigger speedbubble and right at the edge, if there is a fast moving object, be it a bullet or something else. Would that object be cut in half or at least stretched or if you do it the other way, smushed together? Well not sure. Helium-3 could maybe be easier to handle? The heating fabrial would still need to be reguraly stormlight infused and the gem could crack. Would not one time usage to make a 1m^3 block of glay into the massi equivalent of helium 3, not be much better energy production? Bare in my mind, I dont know a lot about helium 3 and how stable it is or how easy it would be to transport or if it has some hazardous dangers.

Could you use speedbubbles to manipulate pressure? Like during the space age, when a ship is breached or has leak. Could they create a speedbubble in that place, to temporarily contaminate the hole? @DrPhysics And my second question is a bit abstract but I hope I can explain it well enough. One surge that always interested me is of transformarion. And I ask myself. Is there a substance/ a matter that we in our modern times cannot (or with very great hardship) create because of lack of technology or energy, but we know exist (at least theoreticly). And could we create this much easier with Soulcasting? Do you know any? Like Helium-3? And what kind of ramifications would that be?

In chapter 28 or 29, when Shallan was talking about the oathgates, I believe she described them as Inkspren at the side. Is it than confirmed? They are at least partialy ones?
-
I am hard at finding the quote. But I believe it was somewhere stated that it is a bit easier to steel push a shardblade than a honorblade. Even if the difference it minimal.
-
I am not sure. It is not the ability of Trellium to split things, but the nature of Trellium itself. I believ it has to do with Trellium being standing against the other gods. There is a big part of its intent with being autonimous. And dont forget, Shardblades while they have the ability to cut things, you dont have to forget that Investiture resist other investiture. Harmonium is a pure god metal and Shardblades are little bit less pure. While still made out of godmetal, it is stated that they are less invested than honorblades that are made out of pure god metal. But that could also be that Honor infused the honorblades with powers themselfs. So the last point is not that strong.

The interesting thing is, that the way primer cubes act, change a bit between the 3rd and 4th book. In BoM they function like a selfburning motor. You give them a power and than they burn themselfs to sustain that power. But in tLM when Marasi uses it, they act more like batteries. She infuses her power and than it is released exactly proximitely to the ammount she put in.

Thanks. Thought it could be cool, as atium has some influence over spieitual realm and reading fortune. So i thought this was an interesting bridge
-
While we know that burning atium allows one to glimpse into the spiritual realm, like Elend did, I have to say that, that I dont lime how he did it. He used the alloy with a-duralumin and now had access to atium? Kinda not fitting how it previously fitted. Now recently I had read a story, where one character had very similar ability to feruchemy but a bit different and with a twist. That character could tap their future strengh! They could take strengh, speed, durability and other abilities of for example for a day and compress it into 15min usage. Which made them extremly powerfull. But when the timelimit that they emposed on themselfs ran out, they had to sleep for a duration that they took. And they could not stop that. It kinda fitted ruin in my opinion. You get access to great strengh but ruin your life by sleeping through it. Loosing precious time. So what if this is an ability you gain from burning atium or a full feruchemist gets if they tap pure atium?

I generaly had since long the idea, that if you already are invested and than gain breath, you get a higher heightening. Like it is a key to unlock but you can substitute steps to higher with extra invedtiture.

If I remember correctly. You have a class and an order for your character. Like you can be an artifabrian and a knight radiant. But perhaps you can focous yourself to one espect entirely.
-
Well like previously mentioned. I had a player, that practicly just did evil things because he could. From violence to other atrocoties, including sexuel. But he always did it smart and not careless. To not get caught (I am generally a GM that is hands of the actions of the players. So little railroading as possible.) Probably the only redeeming quality was, that he kinda cared for the other characters of the party. He helped them and things like that but on the other hand, he did torment them a little (as long as the other players were ok with that. He never did something like intervene in the plot of another character if that would diminish the fun for that player. He was quite the respectfull player if you did not force him to do things that his character would not do)
-
Yeah. I read that paragraph and thought that Elsecallers are probably the easiest order to incorporate into evil deeds. As they practicly dont have to adhere by some kinda of morale. All that their actions should be to further themselfs. I just have trouble spinning my head around. Like, in one campaign. I have a player that practiclly did every evil deed of the book. Including some I would rather not write out. There I ask myself. Would „be the evilist person you can be“ be sufficient enough, for that order?
-
How do I imagine you can create a bad character, if basiclly most radiant orders are inclined to be good (maybe except dustbringers and elsecallers). How would a player play a traditional evil person? Like killing civilians and doing other evil stuff.

But just because they are recent developed technologies. It does not mean the concepts are new. this pairing element could be already existing in the nature of the cosmere and was then developed. other examples would be the spirits of Yumi and painter. For one the lines, are made of 2 different colors and the spirits Yumi summons can manifest as 2 paired objects. So probably Spren could even split themselfs to create multible parts of one object.
