  1. I have no money to buy the current rpg books. Can somebody tell me the different kind of hybrid surges and generally what different orders can do, that were not mentioned in the normal books. Also if it is written. What the passive and active surges of the fused are.
  2. Anti light seems to be much more common and easy to access. Do you think a good chunk, maybe even the majority is dead in the future?
  3. They seem to be seemingly indestructable with the exceptions of Anomolities. Can somebody outside of that and Shards (and maybe nightblood) even kill them?
  4. I have. But was the merge enough for Spren to be unbounded to the system?
  5. Brandon once mentioned that all Investiture originates from Adanalsium and after his shattering every investiture that is in the cosmere is assigned to one of the Shards. But dragons seem to get their investiture directly from spiritual realm. Did he change his mind and dragons are independent or is their investiture bound in a capacity to one of the shards?
  6. Like many Feruchemists pierce themselfs with their own Metalminds to protects them from other investiture arts. And Allomancers carry with them the metals to drink. Don't know how its in the future and how Magnetism affects Investiture but I am curious. Can a feruchemist get a RMI?
  7. Its so bad we have barely seen other fused in action. The devastating ones we have yet to see. And from most fused we have only seen the passive ability. I ask my self for the teleporting ones, what their passive is, as their teleporting obviously uses voidlight.
  8. We know heavinly ones can only themselfs ones but can basicly perpetually lash themselfs and never touch the ground. Its not entirely clear how their power works, but they spend none or very little ammount of voidlight. What would happen if one had access to feruchemical Iron and could change their weight? Would they need to spend more voidlight when they weigh more or could they abuse this power and slam into things with their spear with much more force?
  9. We know spren and stormlight was bound to rosharan system and thereby cannot leave it under normal circumstances. But we know of at least 2 and probably more Spren that could do that. Any ideas?
  10. Are we sure thats it? Could it not be another aether. Maybe one we dont know of? Or the heat aether? Could be used for transport as well as they seem to be more stable?
  11. So… My general opinion. I thought the book as a story was fine? I guuess? Not the best story of Sanderson. I thought the 2 POVs/plotlines kinda did not mix well? Dusk and Starling barely interacted with each other. Starling kinda did not make a big impact on Dusk story except at the ending as a ride and for him to have purpose. It kinda felt like everything else, he would have managed on his own. He would have realised that the cave qas a trial, he probably would have realised that his people power of navigating is unique and he would have probably tamed the snake god by himself as well. In terms of characters… Starling was nice i guess. I was a bit perplexed how much modernized Dusk became in the short time. It was explained but it still kinda felt forced that Dusk all of sudden started to think in more elaborate senteces later. (I have not read the backstory in the books as I have read Dusks story in the arcanum, so I am not sure if Sanderson rewrote his personality there a bit). The crew and the villain, were not that appealing ether. Especialy the secret police woman? Did not feel as she mattered in the story, was just there to make dusk uncomfortable. Unironiclly I thought the most interesting characters in the book, could have been Crow and Xisis. They felt more deep than some of the others. This books feels more like a revelation and teases for theorists and cosmere lore junkies (like me). It was fun to finally see more of dragons, silverlight and the current political spectrum of the cosmere. But sooooo many other things were rather teased or new questions opened. We did not see other Aviar abilities, Starlings past and Yolen or dragons are still pretty mysterious, so many places were just mentioned but almost nothing elaborated. We did not even find out which aether rejected/died of the girl or on which aether runs airships. I can kinda excuse that we saw almost nothing of Scadrian technology explanations. We know of starships that fly with stealfields and that awakend metalminds are something akin to AIs that can probably use invesiture/feruchemy. But those things are probably going to be a bit elaborated in the upcoming books. But a bit too bad we did not see how the Maelwish guns work, as thex seem to shoot some of energy projectile.
  12. I think with the years his writing style has become less refined. Don‘t get me wrong, his world building, plot ideas and magic system developments becomes maybe better and better with each iterarion. But I kinda have the feeling that the epic moments in the later books become kinda less and less impactful. They miss the certain umpf factor and don‘t get me goosepumb like the earlier. Scenes like The newest books kinda miss it. Maybe just the delivery is not as strong. Especialy in Wind and Truth. Like 2 of the biggest scenes are kinda muddled by callback quotes to other better scenes. Does anybody see it similar.
  13. Nazh prison seems to be held through electric locks. And its mentioned that Scadrians love to use their electronics. A lot of their devices seem to run on electricity instead of investiture. Do you think they kinda managed to transform electricity into investiture or kinda subsidize it?
  14. Is Starlings mother, perhaps the same sister of Frost that Hoid talked to during Wind and Truth?
  15. In the book, we are shown how f*cking powerful, technological advantaged and old the dragons are. And a lot of them, for example xisis, have imperial interests. The seemingly only limitation that they have, is that they cannot aquire more powers and thereby variaty of powers compared to humans. But to they don‘t seemingly don‘t need. I would be not surprised if they are so much invested that they could repels shardblades (maybe with Nightblood as exception).
  16. Well I did start reading the series a couple of years ago, the manwha. And while I liked it, it does not covers the same itch as Hardmagic systems of Sanderson or some over works. Been a while since I read it though. Read as well the other work of the author. "The world after the fall" or something like that. But I thought it was extremely convoulted and was unecessarily confusing to the point that it did not make sense in my opinion and abonded it. But ORV was definetly more appealing even if some story lines seemed a bit strange to me. Like the Liliputhian arc (tiny people). The premise was cool and I liked it. But I thought it was strange that one random character from that world, was this powerfull magical aritst that could fight against some realy powerfull beings compared to all the other Lilitputhians.
  17. Here or in the threat. Also, in the threat I have not seen suggestions for alternative media works. Like manga and webnovel or am I just missing it? Also is there a category for hard magic system?
  18. Can you steal the connection to a honorblade? Would than the blade just materialize and fall besides the person who owned it before. Could you steal this way a shardblade, honorblade, awakened object without the need to spike yourself or kill the person?
  19. In some books we get glimpses of the Shards when a character interacts them and it is explained partially what they represent. Like when Dalinar saw Odium for the first time, it was described a 1000 kisses, or undying hate burning like the sun. Preservation was descriped as the endless unchanging depths of the ocean, untouched by light and life. Ruin was described as the destruction of nothing and the withering of wind along stones and make it crumble. Did we get such describtionb of Honor and Cultivation in Wind and Truth? And do you have any theories what you would see if you looked at another shard? My guess for Autonomy, is that it is like a silent forest, where a broken twig penetrates the silence. It is not big but dominant.
  20. I just read World Trigger. A manga about people using technolgies to create magic build bodies in which they fight. While their body is stored somewhere safe. it kinda reminds me of the Avatar movies. And just tinfoil idea. We know that cognitive shadows is investiture that was put in shape of a person and inherits their memories and personality normaly. There are some more details to it but that is the gist of it I would say. Do you think at some point, somewhere in the galaxy, people will manage to create artifically cognitive shadows? And maybe people could through connection operate them from the distance.
  21. Central to the theme of WindandTruth, where it is questioned how good actually Honor was and the theme of "Is honor a childish idea", is just such a great way of putting it, in the way that honor is at the end portrayed as a manifested child. I love it!
  22. I know he is a splinter and not a regular spren. Probably from Virtuosity. But how can it control honors perpendicularity and not somebody else?
  23. If my memory is correct. It merged with the gun. While the shardgun could have changed. I think it is more of a small detail that Sanderson likes to give. But it still could be a normal gun with gunpowder. My only problem with that would be, that gunpowder based weapons will probably be very inefficent in the future. For primitive worlds like „first of the sun“ sure but in the intergalactic war probably not. Like by this point I expext Scadrians and Sellish forces to have reinforced armor when they fight. Especially since Rosharan use Shardblades, they would need some kind of invested protection. And normal bullets will not cut that realy. The other thing would be, I am not sure if you could make a regular functioning gun as a shardweapon. Spren can only manifest as one metallic object. A normal gun is made out of multible moving parts. Not too sire if a spren could change its shape so fast to accomodate that.
  24. Spoilers for the preview chapters of Isles of the emberdark, so be warned. In one preview chapter, we are introduced to somebone that seems to be Rosharan. They had an armor on that looked like Shardplate and summoned a shard gun. They than pulled something out that looked like a Shardmagazine that they put inside the shardgun. What exactly is it? I think, it could be the same material as the shardblade-cascs that we saw in Words of Radiance. The bladedulling materials that can be put on Shardblade to make them dull and safer to use in training. We never learned what they are and as these magazines seem to magically attach to the gun, there is some reason to believe. And if that is true, these magazines can than store investiture to a certain degree probably. Maybe even because of the metal.
  25. It is still not clear if you can store any kind of investiture. If you can store potent investiture like stormlight or biochromatic breaths or if it can only store inniate investiture like allomantic abilities or sandmastery.
