Welcome! Which character do you like better, Elend or Adolin?

I've heard a lot about how good it is. Once I finish Mistborn Era 2, I'll check it out.

I really enjoyed the first two books, but Children was painfully boring up until the last hundred pages or so. I couldn't bring myself to pick up God Emperor right away, and soon afterward I discovered the cosmere and I'm still catching up on that. Maybe once I finish I'll return to Dune. Or maybe one of the other series on my endless, ever-growing reading list.

I imagine that you would be able to store breaths in a nicrosil metalmind. Compounding that nicrosil would be interesting because as per normal compounding, it should give you more than you put into it. However, as Investiture is used to create positive gains in allomancy, you would need to be using Investiture to duplicate Investiture. I'm not sure if or how this would work. Maybe Preservation's power would be combined with Endowment's? But then, if that's the case, would they still be Breaths? Maybe Breaths stored in a nicrosilmind get automatically converted into raw Investiture when tapped anyway. If this does work, it could be an easy way to gain a lot of investiture rapidly. The Ghostbloods would definitely be interested in this.

I'm fairly certain it's stated that Nightblood is made of steel, which on its own is feruchemically viable. Could a Feruchemist potentially use Nightblood as a metalmind or would its Investiture-eating properties interfere with that?

Could a duralumin ferring/compounder use their powers to create a connection to place on Sel and become eligible for Initiation in that area's magic system? For example, could one use this method to be recognized as from Arelon and then be selected as an Elantrian after spending enough time in the area?

I could go through a long plan of how to gain every invested art, but I think it would be easier to just speedrun the events of Hero of Ages and become Harmony.

Is this confirmed or just speculation?

I chose Elend. I feel like I would get along really well with him. Interestingly, I have a friend in real life whom I sometimes discuss philosophy/politics with who I think matches Elend's character (in WoA) and even his physical description almost exactly.

I was visiting Charleston when I decided to stop by a bookstore to see if I could find anything good. I picked out The Way of Kings, and I loved it. Easily the best book I had ever read at that point. I think I was on Oathbringer when I found out about the rest of the cosmere, and now I am nearly caught up, with only Mistborn Era 2 left to read.

Stormlight would certainly work better as an animated series. It would require an atrocious amount of CGI to produce it in live-action. An early draft of the Stormlight movie has been leaked

I've read the forums for a while now, but I just recently made an account. Excited to talk about the cosmere!

Firstly, This may have something to do with it, but we also see shades on Threnody being repelled by silver, and I assume they are made with the investiture of Ambition. There's probably a relevant WOB, but I don't think we know much about silver yet. I believe Brandon has said that aethers will play a larger role later in the cosmere.

I'd definitely go with A-Tin. That's the only allomantic metal I can see myself using in normal life. For Feruchemy, I'd likely either choose bronze or zinc. Wakefulness is extremely convenient, but enhanced mental capacity would be great as well. Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
