Evidence for potential SA5 character death?
Aredor replied to BlueWildRye's topic in Stormlight Archive
I also really hope that Dalinar in some way loses the contest and is made a Fused. Besides the fact that it would be really storming cool, I think this sets up an arc for Dalinar for books 6-10. I don't see him having any growth in those books without something major happening to him. Most of his emotional arc was fulfilled in OB, as well. In regards to what everyone is saying about Adolin... NO. More seriously, as @justice magician said above, Adolin dying would completely destroy Kaladin and Shallan's mental health. With this being the last book before the time jump, I just don't see there being enough room for either one to fulfill their arcs. In addition, Adolin is the only person in the entire Cosmere that has experience with healing deadeyes. He is integral to the entire storming planet at this point. As for who I think will die, it will be Renarin and Rlain. Taravangian is smart. He knows that Renarin and Rlain are able to mess with his fortunesight. With them gone, he'd be able to plan and he'd know the absolute best course of action. He'd even know what our main characters are most likely to do with those two gone. Finally, here's my list of characters I think will live/die. Szeth - Dead. Dalinar - worse than dead. Navani - Living. Kaladin - Fate Unknown. Adolin - Living. Shallan - Living. Renarin - Dead. Lift - Alive in hiding because I think that would be really cool to start book 6 with Lift in exile. -

Probably a good idea.

You're a bit off here. You are correct that the five flashback characters for the back five books will be Lift, Renarin, Ash, Taln, and Jasnah, just like the front five have Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, Venli/Eshonai, and Szeth. That's not the question that was asked, however. The OP was asking who the Prologue characters would be. (Front five were Szeth, Jasnah, Eshonai, Navani, and Gavilar) I have no clue what the event could be! I'm thinking it's either the direct end of SA5 or some other incident that will inevitably happen over the course of 15 years.

Before I begin... Cultivation doesn't count! She's not from Roshar! Anyways, the most powerful character native to Roshar is obviously TOdium. He's a Shard of Adonalsium who controls one of the most powerful armies in the Cosmere. Enough said. If we're talking non-shardic entities, then the most powerful of them all is Ishar. He is a Bondsmith unchained. He's also completely insane, so that adds to his power- He's unpredictable. Dalinar comes next, closely followed by Navani. Both are Bondsmiths who have to follow Oaths, while still having an unimaginable amount of power. My other two in the top five are Szeth and then Kaladin. Szeth has Nightblood, making him far more dangerous than any other Radiant. I put Kaladin instead of Jasnah because while Jasnah may be Queen of Alethkar and a fourth Ideal Radiant to boot, she doesn't have the hearts of the people she rules yet. Kaladin is the champion of Urithiru. He (almost) singlehandedly saved Urithiru from the Fused. I'd be willing to bet that 99.99% of people in that tower would do anything he'd ask them to do. Basically, for Kaladin, he's the greatest soldier and has enormous political power. Wildcards: Renarin. What does power mean? If it means the ability to influence events, then Renarin has the most power out of anyone in Roshar. Without him, Odium would be able to Future sight everything and win very quickly. But he can't see the Coalition's plans because of one (plus Rlain) person. However... he's pretty bad in combat and has next to no political power. So... Joker: Taln. On a good day, Taln could probably beat everyone on Roshar. He's a figure from mythology, he's a great soldier, and he's also a complete wreck. If he gets healed in SA5 (I refuse to call it Wind and Truth until it comes out), then he would be tied with Ishar for first place. Question, though. Do Heralds count as "Native to Roshar?" If you're talking about Roshar the planet or Roshar the Continent, then no. (Unless maybe Ash was born on Roshar?) But if we're talking the Rosharan system, then they would count. Anyways, rankings. 1. Taravangian-Odium 2. Ishar/Taln 3. Dalinar 4. Navani 5. Szeth 6. Kaladin [...] 999999. Taln

Circling back here, I think this line of thinking has merit. However, I posit a different idea. I think that BAM was made by both Honor and Cultivation like the Sibling before being unmade, giving her the third syllable. I'm reminded of this WoB: Re-Shephir, Yelig-Nar, Sja-Anat, and Dai-Gontharnis all seem like they were created by a single Shard, then after their "improvements" they were given two syllables. I don't think that Nergaoul, Moelach, Chemoarish, or Ashertmarn were made by other Shards. I think that Odium made them himself, and because they are all... non-sapient that shows that Odium is bad at making stuff on his own.

Here's the thing: I don't think that Aluminum shackles would hold for very long against someone who was really trying to get free. Both Aluminum and Silver will eventually break after a concerted effort on anyone's part. It's been twelve years since Starling was banished, if she really wanted to get free from Aluminum or Silver then she would probably be able to do so. Dragonsteel is one of the only metals we don't know a whole lot about in the Cosmere. That does bring up an interesting question. Starling is given a very nebulous instruction on how to get free. Will she, in the story, break free on her own or will she be released by... Frost? Xisis? Koravellium Avast, she who brings the dews at dawn? (I'm out of dragon names now..) Also, does anyone know if the Emberdark is mentioned in any previous books?

I think that they're actually Dragonsteel. It's not based on anything, but it would make sense for dragons to be limited by it.

One of the Rhythm of War interludes was Taravangian disbanding the Diagram. In their estimation, it had served its purpose because they had saved Kharbranth. After Taravangian's Ascension to Odium, they would have lost their leader as well as the only one of them smart enough (on some days) to interpret these events from the Diagram. Also, there is no way that they would be able to predict the future with any amount of accuracy.

I'd probably pick something like Callsign: Truthwatcher... But I'd end up with Callsign: Tryhard

I love dune! I watched the second movie on the second day it was out, and it was incredible. Prior to watching part 2, I had read the book, so I knew what was going on. That book is simply... incredible. I also watched the David Lynch dune. Also, in our theater, someone stood up at the end and shouted "Lisan al-Gaib!" It was really funny.- 28 replies
