  1. In case you have yet to see, Tor has released an excerpt of Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, due for release on December 3rd of this year. And boy is it fantastic. Just from the little bit there, you can see Brandon's fabricated another phenomenal world, unimportant though it may be. There is also a review, which goes more into the mechanics of shades. This is going to be a spoiler topic for both of those, so if you don't want to know until the book comes out, don't look here! My favorite bits: Silver gets its day in the sun Another mention of the God Beyond, this is the third different world to say a variation of that name (Shai's Unknown God is confirmed to be the same) The Evil - Potential opposing force to Adonalsium? Does the White Fox have a Splinter? Enjoy everybody, and happy discussion.
  2. Tweeting at the site, Brandon, and Peter is the only thing I do with mine
  3. Being the guest of honor, I would be surprised if he had no booth. You might be better off tweeting him or Peter if you want a quick response.
  4. Wow, Mi'ch. Umm, I'm pretty sure you guys win the Brandon fandom xD
  5. If I'm remembering right, closer observation will show a pattern to the rep levels. It was designed by a math grad student, after all Also, there are at least four or five negative rep levels, which I hope to never see again.
  6. Well, as you mentioned, Elantrians are essentially immortal. As for Demoux, he's accessed some sort of immortality, although we don't know precisely how. Some people theorize that he's gotten ahold of a Feruchemical atium spike and a bunch of atium to Compound like TLR did, but we don't know for sure and there are problems with that. Welcome to the forums!
  7. It's from one of the Eshonai readings.
  8. I'm afraid I'm not following your inconsistency. If the explosion had originated in the center, the power would have been greater and the cracks larger, tapering off as the power weakens. Cracks to the east would then erode even more after time has gone by. In addition to that, if I'm remembering correctly, no Alethi has ever seen the center of the Plains. Every scouting party was either washed away by a highstorm or eaten by a chasmfiend.
  9. There's already at least one topic about this over in the Creator's Corner. Hope this helps.
  10. I can't explain how the center plateau is still there, but TWoK seems fairly adamant that whatever happened occurred at the center. Perhaps not an impact, but some sort of explosion that originated at the center of the Plains, but somehow left the central plateau intact.
  11. An upvote because your disclaimer cracked me up. There's definitely a mental component there.
  12. I think that if Gavilar gets one, it'll be for book 5. No real evidence there except a gut feeling xD
  13. Everything I've read points to an impact in the center of the Plains. WoR Spoilers
  14. Are you saying that they happened at the same time? Because if so there are issues. The First Returned was born only three or four hundred years before Warbreaker but TLR was in power for a you and years. Also, just as a note, the only thing we know about the length of time between Elantris and Misborn is that it was centuries but not millennia.
  15. I was just giving a for-instance. There are many parallels, some of which people disagree about. I personally am not convinced of a connection between the two, although if there is one, it's between iron and a reverse lashing.
  16. Oh that's true without a doubt. Hoid's story and goals are one of the cosmere's greatest mysteries.
  17. This is the way I see it being. You know how Feruchemical healing regrows the body parts that are damaged? The Regrowth that the female Radiant uses does the same exact thing. Feruchemy still requires metal and the power comes from your body but the Regrowth comes from the fabrial and is powered by Stormlight. So the two branches of Lightweaving works in the same way but is probably accesses in a different way and powered by a different source.
  18. Those are my thoughts as well, Observer. A good question to ask would be whether someone who was a terrible artist but believed that they were great would create powerful chalk longs or not.
  19. It certainly won't be that long. WoT demanded Brandon's attention for most of that time period, but now that's all finished with. He wants to get the third book out relatively quickly, after Shadows of Self and a sequel to the Rithmatist. And yes, the Rithmatist is definitely worth a read. It's not terribly long, I read it in a single sitting but it's well worth it.
  20. Not gonna lie, i opened this topoc expecting to ban a spambot. Liar of Partinel might be from a first person Hoid POV and Brandon wants to do a novel on what Hoid was up to on Scadrial. There are some possible short stories in the works as well. Welcome to the forums!
  21. Not so much a question as a comment, Brandon has already confirmed that magic systems have underlying principles and certain types of magic work in similar ways, like Lightweaving on Yolen and Roshar, or Feruchemical gold and regrowth. I just wanted to make sure you knew this. If that wasn't your theory, by all means, carry on!
  22. It's on Amazon as September 24th.
  23. Man, that's an incredible idea. I remember Szeth wondering where Jasnah was, during that scene. Did you hear the reading yourself? Also, what's up with that gap?
  24. Just so you know, it has been confirmed that Hoid stole a bead of lerasium from the Well. So that part is no longer speculation, at least.
  25. Red hair is a common racial trait in Vedens. Shallan has it as well, it's how the masterservant in the Conclave knew to speak Veden to her.
