  1. I'll throw in a spoiler tag and do some explaining, if you want to read it. This is going to have some Stormlight Archive, and some light Alloy spoilers, so you might want to read TWoK first if this is gonna bug you. There are also cosmere spoilers throughout. EDITED: To say one more thing
  2. Sweet hates me D:
  3. It's all good, a lot of this stuff is tough to pick up on. We get our info from a few places. We co-run an interview database with theoryland, which contains as many Brandon interviews as we can get our hands on. (I'm working on adding more all the time) When someone gets new info, they often post it in the Events board. Brandon's also posted a series of annotations for Warbreaker, Elantris, and the Mistborn trilogy, available on his website. These often contain lots of fun and interesting facts. There is also the Brandonothology. This is the old database, no longer being updated. All of its stuff is now in the theoryland database, but I find it can be a good background for someone newer to the cosmere. There is also the Coppermind, a 17th Shard wiki. This is definitely a work in progress, but there is a lot of good info there. The translated versions of Navani's notebook are there, or you can just click here. I'm not sure if the audiobook comes with illustrations, but here's a link to all the TWoK illustrations. Hopefully this is somewhat helpful
  4. All right, we'll call it even I was perhaps being a tad oversensitive, I just got back from camping and am rather tired. You make some awesome points though. I honestly have no idea what could be in that safe. It's interesting, because Shallan refers to it and herself both as monsters. The only shaky idea I have, is that if it was a Shardblade that Shallan somehow got a hold of, maybe her father made her place it intentionally in there so she couldn't summon it. So far as we know, there's no way to mentally tell a Shardblade to vanish without picking it up. But again, this suffers from a few flaws, considering that Lord Davar could just take the Shardblade and bind it to himself, and then she wouldn't be able to summon it.
  5. Not really necessary. We don't have too much evidence either way, and when something was pointed out to me that contradicted my belief, I admitted my error. Spren doesn't make any more sense than Soulcaster did, considering spren regularly crawl through the ground, so I doubt a safe would do anything I was wondering if it could possibly be a Shardblade. There's something wrong with Shallan's mother's eyes, which could be that they were burned out by a Shardblade. On the other hand, the Shardblades don't glow anymore, and haven't since the Recreance. I'm not sure if the Honorblades glow, maybe someone found one? If you want something truly without strong evidence, I'll call out Dawnshard
  6. That's a great point, Vortaan. I hadn't seen you around in a while, welcome back!
  7. That's a fair point. I probably should reread Shallan's flashback. I stand by the idea that it's not a spren though, we've seen nothing to indicate that they are corporeal.
  8. I disagree personally. I think it's the Soulcaster and doubt that a vault could hold a spren.
  9. It's set in the second century of the Lord Ruler's reign, following a Mistborn nobleman called Fendin "Fiddle" Fathvell. There's a bit more info here. If I'm remembering right, Brandon's seeing it as a sort of RPG. I want to say Assassin's Creed like, but that could just be my brain being crazy. I think it will be for PC. The official website is here.
  10. I don't see a problem personally. Sliver of Adonalsium seems like a general term for a Sliver of any of the Shards. We use the phrase "Sliver of Adonalsium" in the article itself. We do make references to one person or another being a Sliver of Preservation, but that's just useful in delineating which Shard that person was a Sliver of.
  11. My personal theory is that, if the Parshendi are the Voidbringers or can be, their gods are the Unmade, who I believe to be the opposites of the Heralds.
  12. If that were the case, I'd feel even worse for someone born on Leap Day.
  13. He probably didn't want to give us the impression that these people were freestyle rapping in their last moments
  14. Nope, not so far as we know. Unless you've seen something I've missed?
  15. They're unique, but not in the same way as atium and lerasium, which have odd properties and allow for other abilities. So far as we know, there is no discernible difference between awakening with color from the Tears and color from something else, which in my opinion there should be.
  16. I think that's actually intentional. That subforum is a spoiler subforum, so it keeps people from seeing topics with spoilery names if they don't want to. Personally, I don't even look at the "most recent post" thing on the subforums. I go to that little dropdown menu immediately to the left of the search bar and select, 'View New Content". That page has all of the most recent posts going back as far as you tell it to go. You can also select which forums you want to view, so you only can see new posting from certain subforums, including the Words of Radiance one. I think it's much easier and useful to simply use that. Hopefully this helps, and I wasn't just telling you something you already new.
  17. I agree, if you look closely at his face, he looks much younger. I found an image of the fully cover that's actually large in size, and when you zoom in on Kaladin's face, it is way easier to see his age. He just looks haggard to me, which could be intentional. I don't think his fall cracked the plateau, but I do think he's struggling to stand or recover from a fall.
  18. I agree Shardlet, I was surprised by Dalinar giving up his Blade, but it felt right. The book carried things full circle, from being betrayed for a Blade, to saved by a Blade. It was perfect.
  19. Shai uses a soulstamp on a locked door to the emperor's rooms to forge them into having termite damage. It wasn't even a stamp designed for that door. She kicks it to pieces in the instant before the seal fades, and there's no indication that they fix themselves or anything like that. I imagine the door reverts back to not having termite damage, but it still is in pieces from when she kicked it down.
  20. The environment, probably. You destroy an upper level predator like that, and all the lower level consumers that were formerly its prey quickly multiply out of control, overrunning their food supply, and then once they've exhausted it, die off. This destroys the plants that have been over-eaten and generally just wrecks the ecosystem as a whole. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened in Aimia after the lanceryn were hunted to extinction.
  21. Glad to have you here, Ampman! What of Brandon's have you read? Just cosmere stuff or Rithmatist, or Alcatraz, or what?
  22. That's because you're saying it wrong. It's not "The Mistborn Adventures!!" it's "The Mistborn Adventures!!" *insert dramatic music here*
  23. This is getting technical enough that Eric would probably have to answer these questions. If he doesn't respond after I while, I'll text him about it. My, limited, understanding is that its something about the forum software itself that makes it difficult and/or impossible to change. I know that people build mods for IPB, so maybe there could be something, but I'm not entirely sure. A dialogue box is a great idea, although I've no idea about whether or not it's possible.
  24. It starts not too long after the last one. But I agree with you about the pose. I personally thought it looked like he'd just taken a hard landing and was struggling not to fall. As for his face, it doesn't look that old to me, but Kaladin's gone through enough stress that I wouldn't be surprised if he was going gray, let alone having a few extra wrinkles. And, I'm just going to say for the art, I'm not real stressed about it being totally canonically accurate. Let's look at TWoK for example. What the heck is Dalinar doing out during a highstorm? In a second here, he's either gonna get blown away by the stormwall or pitch headfirst into that chasm when the vision takes him. For me, it's more about capturing the soul of a book than it is about depicting a certain moment.
  25. Meh, we don't know that there will be a sequel to Shadows of Self. The second trilogy has always meant the modern day tech one, so starting to call it the third trilogy would really confuse the heck out people, myself included. It's just easier to call Alloy and Shadows by their series title, The Mistborn Adventures.
