  1. "Now is no time for caution." TPBM has watched Castlevania.
  2. Welcome! Who is your favorite character from The Eye of the World and how do much do you like/dislike their adaptation in Amazon's WoT TV series?
  3. With a little practice, I could. But not at the moment. TPBM can play The Rains of Castamere on piano.
  4. Nope! TPBM stayed up till 1AM talking about books with their sibling.
  5. So this is gonna be my third SU in ~24 hours. Oh well. I need to get this out.

I was driving back from class today and saw a guy wave a bus down and get in.

And that gave me a thought.

    What if I did that?

Just pulled my car over and got in a bus that's, to quote Journey, "going anywhere." What if I just disappeared, grabbed my backpack, my laptop, a few changes of clothes, and got on a bus? How would that change my life?

    What would happen?

I do, Lotus. It was just a thought, but an interesting one. And in Nebraska, you aren't a legal adult until you're 19, and I don't turn 18 for another eight months. So that would pose a bit of a problem.

But if my situation were right enough (or, wrong, I guess), I would.

Reminds of the bridge in one of my favorite songs:

What now am I expected to do
While I'm missing moments with you?
Take the rail to somewhere new
      Hold on, hold on

Yeah it sort of reminded me of the song "Fast Car" too-

      Spoiler

      You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we can make a deal
Maybe together, we can get somewhere
      Any place is better

and here's another part of it

      You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away?
      We gotta make a decision
Leave tonight, or live and die this way

the whole song kinda embodies that feeling tho

  6. Not for long! En garde!
  7. An hour and a half to download a ~19 GB game? *sigh* It's better than when I tried to download BeamNG drive...

Thank you much :D it doesn’t rlly feel much like my birthday though… BUT, now I’m not a baby teenager anymore :D I have ✨esperience✨

  9. Buh-dum tss. I've never read all of Common Sense, but what I have read, I've greatly enjoyed. TPBM plots out every detail before they write.
  10. Lol, different people, different tastes ig. The reason I love Winter's Heart is because of the climax. It gave me chills that were only matched by (spoilers through Towers of Midnight) Yeah I loved Winter's Heart, but the last three books are just... God, they're awesome.
  11. Hello, Dawnsinger! Have you read The Wheel of Time and/or The Witcher?
  12. A while ago I posted an SU about how much I hate math.

    Well physics is worse.

    Spoiler

I wish I could just be left alone with my music, my books, my laptop, and my writing.

    Spoiler

I [This post was removed for attempting to skirt the rules of the site]ing hate all these numbers and damn fool equations.

  13. A couple, I think. But important in small ways, like pushing snow down a hill to start avalanche. It's been a while since I've read the last three, so I'm not totally sure.
  14. Honestly yeah. I think a lot of people hate/say the slog is a thing because not a ton happens over the course of about six books to move the plot forward. However, there is a ton of character work, which is one of my two favorite parts of a book. The second being worldbuilding which the slog has in plenty. On another note, one thing that I encountered the first time I read The Wheel of Time was a feeling of loss once I finished the series. Now that I'd finished it, I didn't know what else to read because WoT took up so much of my time and my life. For months, it was the only thing me and my middle brother talked about. What I really missed from The Wheel of Time that I wasn't getting from other books I tried was the depth of character, world, and plot. So, I suggest that when you finish A Memory of Light - best book ever written, btw - that you pick up a similar series like A Song of Ice and Fire or The Witcher. Those are both excellent, however, ASOIAF is intensely brutal. More so than anything I've read except maybe the Broken Empire trilogy. Which you shouldn't read unless you love brutally psychopathic protagonists.
  15. Winter's Heart is the best of the slog, in my opinion. There's so much great action and a... uh... thing that happens that gave me goosebumps and got me super hyped. It's great to see someone enjoying The Wheel of Time as much as I did.
  16. "Sorry, what? I don't speak High Imperial, unfortunately." The cheeseman replies as he looks up from re-tying his shoe for the third time this hour.
  17. So you know how books, specifically, the first in a series, usually wrap things up pretty neatly, but leave some things open to set up for the next book?

    You do?

Well A Game of Thrones, book one of A Song of Ice and Fire, does not do that. Every single plot thread ends in a cliffhanger.

    And I loved it.

Now I just have to wait eleven weeks for my hold to come through on Libby. Gahhhhh.

*my hold on A Clash of Kings, the second book.

  18. The cheeseman raises an eyebrow at Tilly. "The RP police are still looking for us. You know that, right?" He pauses, rubbing his hands together in the way that flies do. "They'll do anything to keep us from this. But I digress. I'm attempting to calculate the position and velocity of a 2019 Ford Expedition as it accelerates onto I-70 from an on-ramp. Once I have that, my rocket team will get in place and-- you know what, nevermind that. What are you up to, Tilly?"
  19. I have! Not in art, I suck at that, but in my hobbies. My writing, for a reason I have yet to pin down, has gone up in quality, and I have finally gotten hold of the right tools to fully disassemble my newest airsoft gun. TPBM loves the Game of Thrones music but did not like the show/books.
  20. Quite true. These are also meaningless symbols to which we have attached passing and unworthy meaning.
  21. Welcome to the 17th Shard! We're always glad to have new members. Have you read The Wheel of Time?
