  2. I think they denote a newer member. I've only been seeing them on people who joined around/after the site got updated.
  3. What's your pfp of?
  4. A prologue doesn't have to be super long. One of the best prologues I've ever read, A Silence of Three Parts, is less than a page. What you have now is good, and stands well on its own. That said, if you want it to be longer, add information that the reader needs before the story starts. Add lore, add description, add dialogue. Develop the story enough to grab your readers attention, but don't make it so long that they start wondering when they're going to get to the "real" story.
  5. "And who are you," the proud lord said, "that I must bow so low?"
  6. Then read A Song of Ice and Fire
  7. Omg my gf just sent me a ton of really long texts with a bunch of things she loves about me and why she loves me. I'm gonna be smiling the whole bloody day.

  8. I kinda feel the same way. I've only watched the first season and a chunk of the second, but I already know everything that's going to happen up until a little more than halfway through A Storm of Swords, as that's where I am in the books. Watching the last two or three episodes of season one would have been much more... not enjoyable, but it would have been more interesting and I would have kept my attention better if I had not already read A Game of Thrones.
  9. Click the threw bars at the top if you're on mobile And there is a button that says "Forums"
  10. I need to convince my girlfriend that Harry Potter cannot, in fact, beat Rand bloody al'Thor in a fight.  Give me evidence.

      Literally, everything.

Harry Potter is some random kid.

Rand Al'thor is the real chosen one. he has infinite powers. He's the BLOODY DRAGON FOR LIGHT'S SAKE!

      HE BEAT UP FORSAKEN!

He can easily destroy Harry. Harry won the fight against Voldy because he was lucky and because he had plot armor.

But it IS an unlucky number!! Because it’s more than 10!! Lift says so, and she’s always right!

  13. Cool. What biographies are you gonna be reading?

  16. You guys let Robin win for six hours?? Oh well. I'm winning now!
  17. For members I follow, I used to be able to only select status updates as things I would get notifications for. Now, it's either all or nothing. A few of the people I follow are very active in the RP section, and I would rather not have several hundred notifications every time I log on in the morning. Is this just me not knowing the new site or am I not able to see only SUs as a notification?

But it's normal for a book to take a long time to write. Brandon has spoiled us by releasing so many books in so little time, and we--often--expect other authors to do the same. They can't. Lord knows how little I write. There's days I get four thousand words done in a session, days I get less than a hundred, and days I'm hardly able to get a single sentence done. The creative process is hard.

Sando is great, but he's the wild exception to the rule.

    1. Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Heck yeah.

man's a machine. We cannot expect everyone else to be like him. It's unfair the fact that other authors may feel like they have to do what he does to write well.

Though- with Kingkiller and Game of thrones, they had quick releases for the first few, which were, apparently, quality (debatable imo for Game of Thrones, but I aint here for that argument.)

That's mostly where it comes in.

Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites good finale: still waiting...

  22. Somewhat, but genetics also plays a part. If your parents were tall, you'll probably be tall. If your parents were short, you'll probably be short. It's "just" the way the human body works. Yep.
  23. This is also true, but it lends more to bone and tendon density, and muscle mass.
  24. Because estrogen causes the growth plate in bones to fuse together, preventing growing. Men have less estrogen, and thus grow in height longer and faster, once they hit puberty.
