  1. Yes the meeting I look forward to. In all honesty one of my favorite bits of the WoT books was when Mat and Rand meet, trying to one up each other at swordpoint. jolly good fun!
  2. Woah. Outis. Great idea! What if there are NOT differeing types of spren as we imagine. What if instead there are spren scattered about and they respond to stimuli by manifesting as that type of spren? For instance what if spren are just blank cognitive beings, then suddenly a good fire appears in the physical realm, so they pop in as flamespren to see/interact with it. Then if someone comes along and beats their uncle in a race, those same spren manifest as Gloryspren. Not that this would take away their other aspect (if the had one) of also being a liespren or honorspren or other such cognitive things.
  3. I love Lopen. So glad he get a glimpse.
  4. Well, my off base theory rated a response from Peter, go me! I think that pretty much settles it. As far as we know if Nazh is not writing for Hoid, then he must be a part of Seventeenth Shard. I could see why Hoid and the sharders may be interested in Kaladin, but why specifically the glyphs? Well I guess they could be trying to keep an eye on not just Kal but his whole specially trained ex-bridgeman crew. Mayhaps they think (as many of us do) that the people who choose to follow him, may become surgebinders as well. (PS Peter, will you be attending JordanCon again this year?)
  5. Shardlet thank you for your diligence. Woo! I wonder if it is Nazh doing the Ars Acaneums (Ars Arcani?) rather than the oft suggested Hoid. Though it is a good bet that they are being written FOR Hoid at least.
  6. Awesome. If someone has Alloy of law available, would someone please check the name on the map of Eledel? I seem to recall that "nazh" or someone similar drew that as well.
  7. Well, now I'm going to have to purchase a 3-d printer and hope more and more people (or just you) start making more of these. That is amazing. Good job, upvotes for you good sir!
  8. I thought that the giant glowing planet/black sun thing in Shadesmar WAS the planet Braise. Because presumably the other planets/moons do not have enough of a cognitive presence to show up in Shadesmar, whereas a planet with a shard on it would. Of course I guess it could also be the amalgamation of the Rosharan's collective idea of celestial bodies?
  9. Well, sure if you want to go and recall everything from the start. lol. I just assumed that with the Esonai confirmation of pashendi being among humans that ALL parshmen were a type of parshendi. You're right it could be different,
  10. I'm pretty sure Eshonai mentions(in one of the previews) that they have Listeners in human cities and camps in 'dullform'. I believe this is what the parshmen are, parshendi without the spren.
  11. Well. That was intense. I'm glad this review did not come out earlier. I'm contemplating tracking down those who mistakenly got an early copy and swapping it for a clean, new 50 dollar bill. If nothing else detective work would distract me from the roughly 168 hours 27 minutes and 34 seconds I have left until I may read my own personal copy. I will be calling out of work, and reading it all in one massive session. YAY!
  12. The link between Shin meaning truth, and Szeth being truthless and thus worthless to their society does point toward a connection
  13. I still think that Dalinar believes his curse is renarin's health and his boon was forgetting his wife. However I think he is wrong. I think he asked for the life of his child, and lost the memories of his wife as the curse. However in forgetting his wife, he now believes he loved her and felt much the same about her as he did/does about Navani, the only comparison he can remember. The hole in this is that he somehow would have also had to forget he went to save renarin. Perhaps his curse was just "memory loss" and she took the mother for balance to save the childs life, and the memory of asking for his honor's sake? I dunno.
  14. I would agree that only the ten can hold stormlight, and only the ten can therefore be used for soulcasting. I started a thread 'body of honor' that you may be interested in. I'm of the opinion that the gems (at least the ten) are ONLY found from gemhearts, giving them their unique quality. And other gems, if there are others are quite capable of being soulcast, as they are just a particular configuration of rock, whereas the ten that can hold stormlight are special, and likely grown in the various shelled creatures of Roshar, possibly giving them a way (or easier way) to interact with various spren.
  15. But.... but... what would I do until the release if I cannot constantly f5 the WoR page?
  16. These glimpses are delicious torture. 12 days
  17. I would assume (based on the wealth of information regarding our surgebinding duel) that the actual lashing would be like feruchemy in that you cannot re-absorb someone else's 'pool' or use of stormlight. I would like to see Kal sucking in the leakage from Szeth though, or even better discovering the 3rd Ideal, and just plain ripping out of him leaving Szeth a deflated and suddenly exhausted wreck.
  18. No,no. I mean all the shelled animals. Lets say from an axehound you'd have a gemheart that starts at the size of say a broam whereas chulls would have one that could be split into many broams. The Greatshells are special not because of the gemheart but because of the SIZE of the gemheart. If I'm not mistaken doesn't an Alethi comment on that. That it was the size of the things that made war so lucrative? EDIT: Farming response, I kinda just jumped right in and posted. But they would 'farm' so to speak for the regular ones. Axehounds, chulls etc when they die are harvested. But being a warlike people and loving competition as they do, they would still hunt the greatshells and Whitespines (or something like that) just for the Thrill of it.
  19. I also think that the gemhearts are the body of a Shard. However, it seems most other here believe that there is another, normal, source of gems. Is that the consensus? I've always thought that gemhearts were ONLY found in shelled creatures (so all of them?), but that the Greatshells of various forms had likewise giant gemhearts. I've always thought that this was the reason gems cannot be soulcast, because the gems only work or form from the hearts of shelled beasts. If it was merely a specific configuration of rock (as our gemstones are here) then they should be easily soulcast. If however they are a form of investiture, or only organic, then of course you cannot more of what you are using to soulcast. So, rambling aside, who think gems are mined in a normal fashion on Roshar, and who thinks they are only from gemhearts? (maybe we should make a poll)
  20. Also someone asked Brandon something to the effect of "The dictionary lists 2 definitions for odium, hate and something to causing hatred, do both appy to Odium," and Brandon said yes.
  21. Upvote for "Perimortem Vocalizations"
  22. Thanks for the quote. It seems to me that Brandon was talking about Adonalsium being on Roshar at one point. Since there are Adonalsium spren, that makes sense. I was wondering if it was that, or that after being separate they all were on Roshar. Like a Shard social on Roshar or something
  23. Wow, I was going to post on how Dalinar obviously wished for 2 sons, but more important now, Disney songs!! I know that you all fear my Honor You cant, stand to follow the Codes But now a desolation's upon our world, So i'll take what I'm owed. I can tell from your vacant expressions the lights aren't all on upstairs But we have monsters and magicicans even you can't be caught unawares And then something about highprinces.... I dunno
  24. Stroniax, I think you need to make a formal theory thread about the Shin hoarding all the plate and blades they can. I want to espouse it! Also the Shin seem to have a similar view of fighting and warfare to the Knights Radiant, fighting is not glorious, good, or something to be proud of, but can be necessary at times. Szeth seems to be confident that the shamans would be able to come and retrieve the HONORBLADE from whomever has it, even though it would grant surgebinding abilities in addition to being a weapon worth kingdoms. The only way to be sure of retrieving it would be either overwhelming numbers of full shardbearers or Honorblades of their own, with people better trained in surgebinding than the new holder. Informally espoused +1
  25. Do we have WoB that all shards were on Roshar at one point? Could someone post the quote if we do? Thanks in advance Sharders
