  1. I think I'm going to have to disagree with you. I'm under the impression that Odium came to Sel killed the Aona and Skai, the resulting battle caused the shard (aona's i think Brandon said) to shatter and cause the Shaod, perhaps even twisting the magic of that world with the Priests who get all disfigured (sorry been a while since i read it). I of course could be wrong, but this is my general feeling of the events based on what i've read here and other places on the interwebs.
  2. I don't have the quote at hand now, but Brandon has said that Szeth is NOT a Knight Radiant not bonded to Spren and he gets his power some other way.
  3. I do not believe that the parshendi are in anyway the voidbringers. The Parshmen however i could see being possible. Jasnah can be wrong, in fact generally anything a character says in world, when it's such a huge sweeping staement is usually wrong, or at least seriously flawed. I wonder how it is that i've seen and heard this argument (parshendi are voidbringers) many times, but the fact that the chasmfiend picture captioned as a voidbringer is not brought up. I find this to be far more interesting, especially as they are rocky and have giant gemhearts that hold stormlight.
  4. I'd say that's a definite possibility. Her name is exactly symetrical, and somewhere in the books Kasbal (i think) makes a reference to how Shallan has the 'perfect' name. Just one letter off from symetrical keeping her name from being "too holy". If vorinism is that strong of an influence can you think of any normal parent naming their child a name that is "too holy"?
  5. Found this question via Suduvu's Comic Con question site. Could this explain all? If an Elantrian tattooed another Elantrian with the Aon Rao, would the Elantrian with the tattoo be of equal power, no matter where he went, to Elantrians close to the city of Elantris? Good question in my opinion and perhaps RAFO'd? If it is i would imagine thats a good indicator that it's possible whether thats what these Selians did.
  6. Also we get a couple of other references in the book about how Dalinar's Plate is "better" or different. Or at least that's hinted at. Do you thinki everyone else's Plate lets them feel what they are gripping like they were wearing thin leather gloves? I doubt it. Also he is meantioned to have taken to the Plate very quickly and very well, better than nearly anyone else. And of course we have the portions when he is honoring (wink wink) his pledge to protect Elhokar, that he is faster stronger and glowier than normal plate users. In summary, I agree.
  7. Well someone who has studied early explorers should be able to determine how big the planet is in comparison to the continent of Roshar. Someone stated it takes up 70 degrees. well we know that to corcumnavigate the globe from one point on roshar back to the starting point is 360 degrees. If there are any distances that we can directly correlate from distance to the degrees on the map we can find out the circumference of the planet. I believe that the mainland takes up almost 20% of the planet's surface if the 70 degree measurement is correct.
  8. I have never heard of Moorcock's books. Commence bad ending Speaking of other works, I recommend Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Edit: Commence has 2 'm's right?
  9. Good questions regarding Atium. About Lerasium though. I believe i read in an interview that if it was mixed in correct alloys that it could created a specific misting, rather than a full mistborn. Not sure why you'd want that, but he seemed to hint it would com into play in upcoming books set in Scadrial
  10. I want just espouse this whole post
  11. I think spren are more of the power source, or at least the connection between the source (stormlight) and the user. If this is the case then wouldn't spren be more like either the Dor itself or the Aons used to connect to that power?
  12. I'm thinking the game would have to be at least a semi- "open sandbox" type game. I would LOVE to play a Mistborn Game, they were my favorite of BS' novels until TWoK. I think it'd probably feel similar to that Spiderman game that had an open gameplay component. OH! Kelsier's atium fueled rampage through the noble's estate could be the 'training' and we'd still get the prologue in. I'm very excited and will be waiting for more info
  13. If I recall correctly Brandon said that the Shards tend to fall in pairs, in an "opposites attract" kind of way, but he was specifically talking about Preservation and Ruin. He said that none of them will fit as prefectly as those two, but with the same general feel. I believe someone else on here had a theory that TSFHBA (the shard formerly held by Aona) was Devotion. Maybe Skai was selfishness or greed? what if Skai actually powers the Dor and Aona provides the channel to use the power safely?
  14. It was from goodreads.com, It is a direct quote. The board members posted questions and Brandon posted the answers himself. Here is the link http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/446239-q-a-with-brandon-sanderson-way-of-kings I think I've seen bits and pieces of it quoted here before
  15. Sounds good. Although I have proof Hoid is NOT a Shardholder, and i think therefore we need to admit the possibility that the letter was not necessarrily written to other Shards of Adonalsium, but maybe to other immortal world travelers, who have both those powers some other way. Interview with Brandon: 1. Are Kaladin's parents still alive, and if so, are they actually mad at him? 2. Is Hoid a Herald, or a Shareholder, or something else entirely. 3. Was the letter posted on the top of chapters to Sazed? 4. Do dead parshmen turn into Chasmfieds? 5. What is the dark-glowing sphere? 6. What did Szeth do to become a Truthless, and is there anything else involved in being a Truthless that we haven't seen?" 1. Yes, they are still alive. RAFO. 2. Hoid is something else entirely. 3. It is written to a character who exists outside of Roshar. I won't yet say who. 4. No. 5. Major big RAFO. 6. Szeth was perceived as betraying his people in a fundamental way, and you will learn more about that when his book comes along
  16. Maybe the Shin are holding honor's body under ground. It would explain why they feel stone is sacred, why there are no spren (being absorbed into whatever form Honor's body takes,(mistborn spoiler) It could be that Szeth did something like go underground, where he was not supposed to go. Perhaps he got the Shard from there, or disturbed the Almighty's recovering body.
  17. Yes that's basically it. If you do not measure the photons they behave like waves and even though the light emitter only shoots out one particle (photon) at a time it goes through both slits and interferes with itself like a wave. If you measure the photon it stays a particle and only goes through one slit. Recently with better equiptment they did an experiment where they did the test, and if they went back and maesured it (after the test was complete) it was a particle, if they did not go back and check it it was a wave. They proved that in quantum cases the furture has a causual effect on the past. In other words, what you do in the future can effect what happened in the past. (perhaps like Dalinar telling Nahodan to write the Way of Kings?)
  18. I was under the impression since my first readthrough that both believing in and announcing the Ideals upped the Nehal Bond with your spren. Either increasing the flow of power to you, or by making you better able to manipulate and use what you already have access to. Not exactly sure why, does Kaladin make that observation at some point?
