My opponent got mad cause I had my Roaring Moon set up (2 dragon dances and Protosynthesis Atk) and sweeping. I waited for like 30 seconds before turning on timer. Such a waste of time

  3. Alright, two things:

    1) Ticket to ride is a great game. Long, but really fun

    2) the movie Escape from Germany is a wonderful movie. Everyone should watch it. And if you do, Elder McOmber is my uncle 3-4 times removed (he's the one with the camera). It's a great story, watch all of it including the credits, they have cool facts in them

    SPOILERS FOR WHEEL OF TIME:

I don't know how far down I have to go.

    This should be fine

Who restarts the Age counter? Like, who will decide that the 4th age is over, but instead of the 5th age, we'll call it the 1st age? How many ages are there? The 4th age seems like it will be an age of legends, but that was the second age. What will happen between the 4th age and the next 3rd age? The Dark One's prison still needs to be sealed at that point for them to break it open, so what would happen? I don't understand. Also, did Rand and Moridin switch bodies? HELP!

Sorry, I got the ages mixed up. I think the Fourth age ends with a war that either causes channeling to be lost or channeling is lost during the Fourth age just through channelers not being born. Either that or there's a bunch more ages, but when you get to the First age there's no channeling, since we know that channeling was rediscovered in the second age.

  7. Friendly reminder cause I've been feelin it today. It will get better. It's hard now but will get better. For those of you who are Christian, Phillipians 4:13. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." For those of you who are of other religious beliefs, sorry I don't know your scripture. You can also look at this next one. For those of you who are non-religious, the Pattern is balance. There will never be bad without good.

Have a good day for me!

I did! One of our contemporary scenes, done by our Banquo/Peter and one of the witches (hehe I’m good at being subtle) got 2nd, and we had a pantomime and a classical scene make it to finals but nothing else placed.

Our one act also didn’t place…but I disagree very strongly with the judges on it. I saw the one that got 1st, and I understand why the judges chose it, but…I dunno, I guess they value plays that make them feel important over plays that people enjoy and are actually done well and have talented actors?

Heehee I’m bitter but it was a ton of fun!

  16. the shard wouldn't let me report this bot's post, so I'm here now

  17. Session 0 & 1 updates! I will now reveal why I said I was a large lad, a big fellow, a massive man, perhaps even a gargantuan guy. I am playing... a half-orc, half-giant. He is about 20 feet tall, and is as dumb as they come. But he is incredibly strong. On to the updates.

    Session 0:

We drew up the character sheet for A (one player), and came up with a character for @Edema Rue. I'll let her tell you about her character. (Some of the stuff won't make too much sense until she explains.) We didn't do much besides this.

    Session 1:

A and J are both bounty hunters. They are met in an alley by a dragon born who tells them to capture (alive) a man in the forest. When pressed about him, it is revealed that he is very big.

Cut to me. I am sitting, leaning on a tree. On the other side of the tree is Eddie. Neither of us is aware of the other, but she is drawn to my attention for some reason (I forgot). I don't see her at first, and pull the tree out of the ground to try to find who is talking to me. When I see her, I pick her up and throw her in my backpack. I hear footsteps of my pursuers (I used to be a slave on a pirate ship, and they want me back) and start running, with Eddie in the bag.

Cut to A and J. They are now tracking the man, and follow the steps when they see a giant man barreling towards them. Naturally, they assume that this is the man they're hunting, and A shoots Him with a bonus from J's bardic inspiration.

That man was me. I take 13 damage (which would be enough to kill any of the other party members), fall over, and enter a rage (I'm playing a Barb). Eddie takes fall damage and runs out of my backpack. 6 bounty hunters arrive. They were the ones chasing me. I get up, and uproot a tree, which I will use as a weapon. Combat initiates.

Initiative order: Bounty hunters, A and J, Me, Eddie

Bounty hunters attack. 5 of them shoot guns at me (they were hired to kill, not capture). One penetrates my AC and does 14 damage. Thankfully, because of my rage, it does half damage. I am now at 1 health. The sixth guy charges in. I'm terrified, thinking, "I'm gonna have to redo an entire character and I like this guy."  But I use my reaction to hit the guy with my tree as he gets in range. It does 23 damage and kills him.

A and J's turn. They ride some elk (recently tamed through Animal Friendship) around to get to the back of the bounty hunters. A attacks, but misses.

My turn. I run forward, and hit the front group of three bounty hunters with my tree. I do 23 damage again, and kill 2, knocking the third unconscious. My pet wolf attacks a different bounty hunter, knocking it unconscious.

Eddie's turn. She uses a spell to wrap me in vines, trying to immobilize me. I succeed my strength check and break them.

Hunter's turn. One is left that is alive and conscious. He chooses to shoot my wolf. He rolls a 1 and the gun explodes in his hands, doing 6 damage.

A and J's turn. J sneaks behind him and knocks him unconscious with the butt of his spear. Then they get back on the elk and start running away. A shoots the ground beneath my feet with an explosive bullet. The bullet knocks me off my feet and I would take 1 damage. However, due to my rage halving the damage, and always rounding down in DND, I take 0 damage.

My turn. I get up and chase after them, dropping the tree and picking up two rocks. I throw them at A and J respectively. Both miss.

A and J's turn. They continue running. I forgot if A attacked, but if he did, it didn't work.

My turn. Last turn of rage. I won't be able to keep up with them if I run out of rage. I chase them, pick up two rocks and throw them at A and J. The rock thrown at J misses. The rock thrown at A gets a 20. I do 3d6 (1d6 x2 because of the crit, and I add a damage die due to half orc trait Brutal Critical). He takes 7 damage, and is knocked unconscious. Rage ends, and I fall over. I succeed my Con saving throw to avoid falling unconscious. My vengeance for the bullet has been achieved and I am willing to stop chasing them.

A and J's turn. J pushes the rock off of A and picks him up. They run away and find a cave. Combat ends.

I follow them, using a tree I just uprooted as a crutch. Eddie also comes. They go into the cave they find. I lie down outside the cave and take a short rest, eating and using a hit die to regain full health. J starts to set up a camp, but the ground beneath both A and Eddie sinks, and they get trapped down a hole, in a cage. They begin adventuring down there after A shoots the lock off the door.

Above them, J notices 16 goblins come up from deeper down the cave. I stick my head in, then pull it out, put my backpack on my hand, and punch 7 of the goblins at once, doing 12 damage and killing all of them.

A and Eddie find a Beholder in a cell. Eventually they release it and it floats them back up to the surface. They all exit the cave (including J) and I collapse the entrance. We walk back to a town.

A is a demon and burns a tree branch, using the ash to regain health. J visits the man who hired them, getting the 5 gold they were promised to capture me. The people giving the hirer the money didn't specify what to do after I was captured, so they got the money and a second mission. For this one, they were told to meet a person in the woods.

Eddie and I come with them this time. We meet a dragonborn who is the vice-mayor of the town. He tells us the mayor is corrupt, and he offers us 16 gold to get him to leave the town. We agree, and start forming a plan (and by that I mean, J starts forming a plan and the rest of us listen.)

And that's where we left off! I'm excited to go back and do more. I really enjoy this character. I'll keep ya'll updated. Eddie, if there's anything I missed, feel free to point it out.

      @Immortal Platypus YES

      Immortal Platypus

I won't be able to get it for a while, but it's important to understand, this campaign is very homebrew heavy. The DM lets us go up to +/-10 instead of 5, as long as it's balanced. I approved my character with him prior to starting.

  18. Alright guys, I've finished my character sheet for my upcoming campaign. I'll need to check off a few things with the DM, and adjust a few things about my character (it's a little hard to make a character when their race isn't in the handbook you have...) but it should be fun. I was playing a very min-maxed PC before, and this guy is not that. I'm looking forward to the play style with him, it'll be very different and fun. I'll let ya'll know how it goes!

    3. Immortal Platypus

      Immortal Platypus

no, we're planning on helping you make a character tomorrow. DM and I both have handbooks, so we've got you covered there. I'll be updating my character tomorrow too.

    4. Cash67

      Cash67

In my experience @Edema Rue, I usually ask my players to have an idea for the vibe their character wanted. For example, one of my players “wanted a pet duck”. So we found a class that gave him a killer death robot duck. Just go in knowing what you want, and be prepared to make compromises.

  19. My DM has started a new campaign and I'm super excited. I got @Edema Rue roped into it too. I can't say too much about my character cause Eddie will find out about him at session 0 and not a moment sooner, but some might call him a big boy. Perhaps a large lad.

you'll do fine, if you mess something up, you'll know. We will probably make your character at session 0 so that you do it correctly. Both the DM and I have handbooks, so we should be good there. We might start session 1 at session 0 depending on how long it takes and how much time everyone has.

    3. Cash67

      Cash67

@Edema Rue if you are genuinely trying to tell a story with a group of people you like, it’s gonna be stupidly difficult to mess up. Knowing you, you’ll do great! It’s just like the Insanity Clinic, just with pre-defined rules for how things work. The improv and rp aspects are nearly identical.

    4. Immortal Platypus

      Immortal Platypus

ye. our campaigns tend to have a little more combat than normal, so that's what I was talking about. Cash is right though, you won't mess up the RP. as long as you make a character you like it'll be hard to mess up RP. A fun backstory is nice, I'd work with our DM for that, just to make sure continuity works. I was doing that earlier today. He'll help you out

  20. Guys, this is legitimately starting to get weird. A while back, I had a debate tournament. I was entered in two events (International Extemp and PF for those interested). The tournament was two days, speech day (Friday) and debate day (Saturday). I had a judge for my second round on speech day. That same judge was my judge second or third round on debate day. (This isn't that weird, it's happened before.) Then, that Monday, that judge was a sub for one of my classes. Then I was at the school like three hours after it ended on the Tuesday after that, and they were there. And now they're my sub. Coincidence? Probably

    I THINK NOT!

      The Bookwyrm

I can think of several explanations:

You could be in the Truman Show and this is someone trying to keep a closer eye on you for some reason. Or trying to warn you you're in the Truman Show.

You're secretly developing supernatural powers and they're a member of a secret organization (government or otherwise) responsible for keeping those powers hidden. They'll soon approach and try to recruit you. Or maybe try to kill you.

You could just be really cool and they like hanging around you.

      It's a coincidence.

      Et Cetera.

      Edema Rue

I did the same thing. It’s ok. Remember it for next time, but also, don’t let yourself get burnt out.
