Is it safe then, to assume that the Ortean Island chain is very close to one of the D4's corners?

cool cool, I'm glad that works [I'm gonna keep this loose because @InfiniteInsanity isn't here to tell us what Fiadh's doing] Whist made her way over to the alley with the girl. She went in a ways, and then crouched behind some larger cargo boxes. Hopefully they would be completely hidden from the street here. Now time for part 2 of plan B: back to plan A: Getting Information "Whats your name?" Whist asked the girl. She wasn't entirely convinced this girl was innocent. She didn't really know what to think.

"Good idea."' Whist said. It hadn't even crossed her mind. Believe it or not, she didn't end up in many situations where she had to worry about a body. Whist glanced around again. If they took the officer with them, they could get into some serious trouble. Then again she had just assaulted someone. "yes, I guess we should bring her, can you drag her maybe?" The alley wasn't very far from where they were standing, and Whist needed to help Fiadh walk. [I'm assuming that Fiadh is coming with us, @InfiniteInsanity, please say something if you have any objections, I'm sorry things progressed without you] @The Bookwyrm, I'm also assuming that your character and the person you were talking with have moved on to another area on the docks, I hope that's okay] [Also I have to leave for tonight, its been a pleasure RPing with you today @The Halcyon Girl]

Whist glanced around, and spotted a small alleyway, its entrance mostly covered by cargo boxes. It would have to work for now. Besides, pursuers would expect them to try to go far, right? "Over there," she said pointing to the alley. The sun had begun setting a few moments ago, and due to the coming of night, the area had mostly cleared of people. No one had seen her strike the officer, but it was only a matter of time before someone came down the street and discovered the body.

Okay, getting information was a bust. Time for plan B, which was decidedly more risky. In grabbing the girl, the Officer had put her back to Whist. Taking a deep breath, Whist did something that was definitely illegal. She grabbed her long white staff from were it had been strapped to her back, and smacked the woman sharply on the side of her head. It hit hard, and she fell to the ground unconscious. Unconscious, but thankfully not dead. Helping Fiadh to stand up, she turned to the girl, "Lets go."

This was a difficult situation . . . who was telling the truth?? "um . . . okay, so you didn't steal anything." "What do you think she stole? you mentioned she had stolen things before?" Whist asked the women, who was probably some kind of officer. It was a good thing this women was humoring her, instead of ignoring her and just dragging the girl away. Then again that was probably because she suspected Whist was an accomplice of some kind.

Whist's mind raced. What to do . . . The woman was talking about the bundle she had had a moment ago right? Were had it gone? Whist decided she wouldn't deal with all this confusing nonsense anymore, time for some straight answers. So, putting on her best "authoritative" voice she butted in. "Please, my friend, lets try to talk this out, calm down" she said to the woman. Then turning towards the girl, "you didn't what?"

Whist gasped "How awful! I'm so sorry!" She pulled Fiadh into hug. No parents . . . had she been living on her own all this time? No wonder she had been so hungry . . . Whist let go of Fiadh, a little shaken. So that women had been following this girl. Something was going on here, but what? And what to say?? The girl was obviously distressed by being found. The women didn't seem like a mother who had found her lost child, in fact, she had an almost sinister air about her. Whist may have come to this island for stupid reasons, but that wouldn't stop her from doing what she had always done. Helping people. Time to do something Whist was terrible at. Lying. "Shes . . . an acquaintance, how do you know her?" Whist asked, knowing she was probably treading dangerous ground.

"Of course!" Whist said, "I'm glad you seem to be feeling a bit better." She glanced at the other girl, she still hadn't gotten her name . . . Might as well help who will let me, she thought "Fiadh, where are your parents?" Whist asked, "Are you here alone? I just want to see you home safely, that's all." Whist had been told the docks could be a dangerous place, and she certainly wasn't leaving this wounded girl her alone. @InfiniteInsanity @The Halcyon Girl [I think 2 months is a good as well, especially since we've all started so far apart]

"Fiadh, that's a very pretty name!" Whist said. The girl, Fiadh, had visibly relaxed a bit and was now making progress on the second apple. Whist glanced at the other girl, the one holding the bundle. She was nervously watching a woman who was slowly moving through the crowd of people. "I'm afraid I just got here, so I don't have a ride out of town, is there any other way I can help?" And after a second though Whist added, "Is that woman following you? Should we go find an officer to help?"

"Whats your name?" Whist asked, digging around in her bag for another apple. The first had disappeared very quickly. She handed the next apple to the girl, who was starting to calm down. "I'm Whist"

"Don't worry!" Whist said, trying to comfort the injured girl. Eyeing the girl with the bundle, she continued, "I put some ointment on it that will numb the pain for a bit, don't cry, it will be alright!" She put her arm around the girl, she looked so small and scared. Children her age shouldn't have to live life with this much fear. Whist dug through her bag, pulling out an apple. "you look hungry and I think you'll feel better with a full stomach." She handed her the apple and tried to smile in a friendly way.

Whist was finishing up with tying the poor girls bandages when she noticed that the other girl was inching away. She was wearing plain clothing, and holding a bundle of some kind. She had a desperate expression on her face. Whist's Mom Friend instincts kicked in, both of these girls needed help. "Are you alright?" Whist asked the girl before she could get to far, "You seem stressed, is there anything I can do to help?" @The Halcyon Girl

Whist gratefully accepted the bandages from the sky-like young man. She couldn't help but notice the large amount of books in his bag, was he a scholar perhaps? "Thank you so much! I appreciate it," she said, hopefully he wouldn't expect her to pay him. She quickly wrapped one of the lengths of white cloth around her head to stop the bleeding. All of a sudden Whist noticed a surge on energy from the young man, was he using Light magic? It was hard for her to tell since it obviously wasn't the suns power. Crying from a little ways down the dock caught her attention, and she turned away from the Sky person to see two young girls sitting on the ground. One of them was crying and her legs were covered in blood. "Are you all right? What can I do? Can I do anything?” the other girl asked, “Do you need food? Or a hospital? Or… anything?” Whist was over next to the two young girls in a matter of seconds. She wound some of the extra bandages around the girls scrapes. "oh you poor thing!" she said, "Does it hurt? Don't worry, I'm well trained in healing, everything will be alright." @The Halcyon Girl @The Bookwyrm @InfiniteInsanity [ @NerdyAarakocra you are welcome to join, though there are already several of us, I would recommend going back and reading some stuff since things have progressed a bit]

Whist put her hand to her forehead, and it came back scarlet. The flagpole had been rough from weathering, and had given her a large scrape. She was lucky her glasses weren't broken! Trying to cover the blood with one hand, she frantically searched her bag. Whist always caried a First Aid kit for stuff just like this . . . Of course she happened to be all out of bandages. Now that she thought about it, Whist remembered using the last one on one of the sailors. He had cut his hand on a wood splinter, what had his name been? Focus! she reminded herself. Could scrapes this small get infected? Whist would have to ask one of the people here on the docks for a bandage. But if she asked a stranger, then she would have to explain why her forehead was all messed up. No, no, no, that was way to embarrassing! That left her with only one person to ask. Luckily, the young man with sky-like skin seemed wealthy despite his simpler robes, so he was likely to be carrying bandages of some sort. He had just finished talking to a human man, and looked a tad concerned. Extremely conscious of the warm blood trickling down her face, she stepped up to him. "Um, excuse me . . . do you happen to have any bandages or uh . . . something?" @The Bookwyrm

[I feel like this is a good place to introduce my character (since she's traveling too) so here we go ^^] Whist was so, so, glad she could finally get off of the boat. It had only been a couple days from Shak Tu to the small port of Cavelin, but It felt like it had taken forever. Its not that Whist hated boats, she didn't even really get sea sick that much. It was just the thousands of things that could go wrong on a boat that bothered her. It was, in her opinion, far to risky. What if she fell in? What if for some reason, she forgot how to swim? What if someone else fell in and she couldn't help them because she had somehow forgotten how to swim? What if something lurking in the water tried to eat the boat and she couldn't save anyone and she couldn't save herself because she had somehow forgotten how to swim? What if- "Are you getin' off my boat or not lass?" Captian Lisken asked, suddenly pulling Whist out of her thoughts. "Ah! ahaha . . . ha . . . yes of course!" she replied, hastily stepping off the gangway. "Sorry I seemed to have lost myself to my head again, if you know what I mean." She shifted awkwardly under Lisken's gaze, trying her best not to seem any more of an idiot. "That head of yours is going to get you into more trouble, then save you from it, if you don't mind me sayin'." He waved for her to move on, dismissing her without a goodbye. Its not like they were friends, but it still felt discourteous to Whist. She began walking along the large wooden dock, studying the barnacles growing on the sides, and trying not to make eye contact with strangers. She was far from a lost child, but that didn't stop her from feeling like one. This was the first island she had ever been too that wasn't her home, and it couldn't have been more different. It seemed rougher to her, with its unkept streets and loose structure. Shak Tu had always been very clean and well kept despite its governors lack of attention. Back home, things had been so organized and- Suddenly, she realized she hadn't been watching were she was going. Lost in her thoughts again! Whist looked up just in time to see she was on a collision course with a rather large metal flag pole. She crashed into it, unable to stop herself in time. Idiot! Whist thought to herself as she fell backward and hit the wooden dock with a thump. She really needed to focus more on . . . focusing on stuff. She glanced around the area to make sure no one noticed. To her dismay she spotted an odd looking young man standing on the docks several yards away. His skin looked like the night sky . . . Despite the small distance she saw his eyes widen slightly in shock. Flushing in embarrassment, she picked herself up and hurried down the Boardwalk. [@The Bookwyrm, I realize that I've skipped a few hours in this plot, I hope thats okay]

Here's my character, I added info about her island and stuff in the doc, so hopefully makes sense. Name: Whist Enoch Race: Human Gender: Female Magic: Star shaper (as its called in the doc), Whist draws her power from the sun, but isn't very powerful. She was trained at an academy that focused more on study and rather than practice, and it only really taught her the basics. Personality: In short: the quintessential mom friend, She's kind and caring, but tends to over-mother people, she's also very scared of change and hates taking risks. Whist always carries a first aid kit (just in case). Backstory: After going to school for general education, and a mediocre knowledge of Sun shaping, she decided to become a governess because she loves children. She ends up working for Governor Larsik of Shak Tu (the same island she was born and raised on). For 10 years she helped raise his two children, and dealt with his heedlessness. Not only did she raise the children, but she educated them, and was sort of a body guard in case of emergency (though she can't really fight, she could use fire spells through the power of the sun). Larsik often left on long business trips (because his island is very trade based) for political reasons, (this was also the reason he needed a governess for his kids). Recently he has come back from one of his long trips to find his beloved stamp collection was somehow lost on the journey. Larsik just can't live without his stamp collection. So after months of persuading, he gets Whist to go find it for him. Whist hates adventures. Whist hates traveling. Whist hates stamp collections. But unfortunately Larsik threatened to fire her if she didn't go find it. Despite Larsiks . . . absurdity, Whist loves his 2 children dearly, and they love her. She would hate to leave them (and also doesn't want to be unemployed), so she had to give in. Also he wouldn't stop bugging her about, and it was really getting on her nerves. So she left her home, the island she had spent her whole life on, to find a stamp collection. A stupid little stamp collection. Other: Whist is 32 years old, though she looks a tad younger. She has Olive skin, and mid-length, dark brown hair. She's a bit on the plump side, but not in an unhealthy way. Whist tends to wear yellows and whites, as is traditional for Sun shapers. She prefers simple dresses, that reach her lower calf, and have long sleeves. Whist wears large round glasses. She also carries a white staff (a glorified walking stick, really) that helps her channel the suns power for spells. Sorry this is kind of long ^^;

(please ignore how behind I am with these ) In my opinion Dalinar is an anchor for Alethkar, he's pretty much held the country together through the end of the world ^^ -
I'll join if that's all right Would Stellamages be able to choose the space object they gain power from or would it be chosen for them in some way? Would Stellamages of different space objects have different levels of power? (like a mage that draws power from one star vs a mage that draws power from a whole star cluster) I really like this idea if you cant tell ^^, though I'd be okay with any magic system really
