  1. "I say, we all go take a nap, and then decide," Whist said, "I don't know about you kids but I'm exhausted." She stood up to go rent a couple of the inns rooms. @The Halcyon Girl @InfiniteInsanity @Tani
  2. "D'you say something?" Whist asked, her bowl already empty. Fiadh looked frustrated for some reason.
  3. Fiadh came back with the food, much to Whist's relief. She took one gratefully and began spooning it into her mouth. "Well that's easy," Whist said between mouthfuls, "Your the girl who helped out Fiadh, and the girl who helped out Whist! Its not a whole lot yet, but you don't need to have your whole identity plotted out from day one." "Keep letting your goodness out, and with patience, who you really are will come with it." She handed Nayka a bowl of oatmeal. "Oh, and I guess I'm nice because . . . it feels right. I've had a lot of practice, and once I started being nice, I realized it really wasn't as hard as people make it out to be." "Anyway, I think that's enough philosophy for one all-nighter."
  4. "That's okay, the world is old and complicated, and you are very young. Just try to remember there's goodness inside of you," Whist said, smiling at the young girl. "I've been in your place, I know what its like to cover up your goodness, to be ashamed of it, but I also know that people can change-- or rather change back, if you get my drift." "The goodness inside wants to get out! no matter how hard you try to stop it. take my advice and let it!"
  5. Whist chuckled, "Of course your a good person! its the default! its the truth!" "In my opinion, bad people don't exist. Good people who are stupid? Sure! Good people who do bad things? Of course! Good people who are corrupted by the world around them? Definitely." "We're all good people, deep down. Some people bury their goodness, they try to hide it. You say you were acting--But what part of yourself was fake? The part that stopped to help a hurt girl, despite being chased? The part that helped a hurt woman walk across town in the middle of the night?" "I'd say its not likely."
  6. "Well yeah . . . that was obvious, but what's a little burglary? I know I certainly tried my hand at it when I was your age," she said. I'm a little young to be remembering the "good old days," she thought to herself with a chuckle.
  7. "Well you have far to much living to do to be wasting away in a jail cell, plus, you're a really nice person" Whist said, her breath now under control. However the excess use of magic and the sleepless night left her feeling completely drained.
  8. The second the officers left, Whist sat down at the table, breathing hard. Her illusion didn't seem to have worked very well, she hadn't had enough magic to make it potent. Yet the officers had left, and Nayka had handed over the eye skooter thing. "Well," Whist said, still huffing, "that's that bridge crossed."
  9. Okaaaaay, so not a quick solution, Whist thought to herself. "Well I suppose that did seem a bit incriminating, but you have to understand, my niece is a very flighty girl, and people with weapons scare her easily." Summoning the Sun's energy, Whist gently but firmly grabbed Nayka by the shoulders, pulling her away from Haen. Mentally she pushed the energy toward Nayka, painting over her face with its light. She added highlights to some of her features, making them appear bigger. Whist pulled on some of the light that was already on Nayka's face, creating larger shadows. The affect made Nayka look . . . off. Her cheeks appeared more shallow, her eyes deeper set, her nose bigger. She was slightly different version of herself. Different enough that she could be another person. Whist began sweating, she had already used A LOT of magic healing them. Even this simple illusion was straining her abilities to the max. "I think I've heard of this Nayka thief before . . . its such a shame to see youth making bad decisions. I saw the wanted posters when we were traveling through Eunat, I can see how you would think my Leyla would look like her, especially in the dark last night." Whist started breathing heavier. She prayed Haen wouldn't notice.
  10. "I see . . do you have any proof?" Whist asked calmly. She put her hand on Nayka's shoulder. She hadn't intended for the officers memory to come back. Hopefully they could clear this up quickly.
  11. Whist noticed Fiadh looked a bit uneasy . . . and then her stomach growled. She handed her wallet to Fiadh. "Will you go buy us all some breakfast?" she said, pointing at the counter at the back of the room. "I'm all out of apples." "I'm a Star Mage," Whist said turning to the older girl. "I can magical take in energy from the sun, and then use it to do stuff. For healing, you take this energy and push it into the body of the person you want to heal. The energy, blessed with the suns connection to life, speeds up the persons natural healing process. It usually takes a lot of energy, but Fiadh had a small wound, and healing myself is much easier than other people. I should be able to heal her without a rest," Whist said. She walked over to the officer, who was absentmindedly sitting on the other side of their table. Her guilt had grown considerably now that her head was clear. All of last night had been a strange and hazy, even before her vision went blurry. That's what you get for walking straight into a pole, Whist thought to herself. She gently placed her hand on the woman's forehead, like she was checking a fever, and then Pushed energy through her hand. "Wha . . . what . . . HEY!" the officer jumped off of the bench, backing away to examine the group.
  12. "Just healing the scrapes, it won't hurt I promise," Whist said. She unraveled the now bloodied bandages and gently touched an area of Fiadh's shin that wasn't scraped. She reached out to the sun, drawing from its well of power, and then pushing it through herself and into Fiadh. Everything seemed so much easier now that her head was healed. Slowly the scrapes on Fiadh's leg closed completely. Her skin was noticeably warmer than before, but no where near burning. Whist did the same on her other leg.
  13. Whist sat down next to Nayka in the inn's main room. It served both as a lobby and a dining room. A staircase on the far left wall led to an upstairs, which was probably where the rooms were. The back wall had a bar/kitchen area, separated from the rest of the room with a counter. The remaining floor space was filled with large round tables and benches. It was mostly empty--probably due to the early hour, and the innkeeper washing dishes behind the counter didn't seem to have noticed them. The sun started to rise through the large front windows. Whist had always loved sunrises, but being a Star mage made the experience even better. She felt the suns energy rush through her like a cool wave, and she relaxed. She got the sense that everything would be okay, despite her foolish mistakes. Whist felt a little old to have acted so naively, but she had led a more sheltered life. Hopefully this trip would give her the wisdom and experience she obviously lacked. Pushing the energy within her towards her head, she started to feel it heal. The throbbing dissipated and the room came into focus. She even felt the scrape on her head close. Energized and refreshed she moved over to Fiadh, and started healing her legs. She'd do the officer next.
  14. "I'm . . . fiiiiii-" Whist started to say. "When we . . . get inside . . . and wait for the sun . . . when it rises, I can . . . heal us," Whist tried to talk slowly to make sure all the words got out. She hadn't been able to heal Fiadh's legs earlier because the sun had been setting, and that had put a damper on her powers. Luckily, healing was a strength of hers, and once the sun rose she would definitely be able to heal all three of them. More powerful star mages could use the power of their chosen celestial body even when it wasn't in the sky, but she hadn't gotten to that point yet. Her healing would probably bring the officers memory back, but that was alright. The poor woman needed to get back to her life, and she could probably get Larsik to clear Nayka and her of charges (he may be a doofus but he was still her friend). Whist was definitely feeling guilty for bonking her on the head, but at least Nayka was safe.
  15. It took Whist's foggy brain a minute to realize there was a newcomer, she had been focused on the glory of soup. She was hard too see, not only because of Whist's blurred vision, but also because the night was dark, and the newcomer seemed to have a very dark skin tone. Still leaning on Nayka, she said, Hi! I'm Whist, its nice to meet you! "Hi . . . . . . meet youu," It didn't quite come out as planned. @Tani @Shallan Stormblessed @InfinteInsanity @The Halcyon Girl

    Kelsier Doodles

    Thank you!!!
  17. I finished The Final Empire last night and holy craaap!!! it was so goooood!!!!!!!!

(NOOOOO KELSIER- i will never recover:()

I think sometimes when I start a brandon novel I forget that its going to end like a brandon novel

That man writes climaxes like there's no tomorrow.

(also I couldn't help but love the scene where hoid shows up, does absolutely nothing, and then immediately leaves, it was fabulous)

  18. With Nayka supporting her, walking was a lot easier. She was such a kind girl, kinder than that wall certainly. It was a dark night, clouds covered any sight of the moons or the stars and Whist found this helped with the throbbing in her head. Everything was still blurry, and combined with the darkness, it was extremely hard to see. She relied heavily on Nayka to pull her in the right direction. @InfiniteInsanity @The Halcyon Girl @Tani

  22. Whist pulled herself up into a standing position with the help of a very kind wall. They were going somewhere right? Standing was hard, and the dizziness increased. She leaned her back against the wall before she could topple over. It took her a couple minutes to figure out Nayka was talking to her, but luckily the dizzy spell subsided and she heard most of it. "soup . . . sounds nice." Her head a bit clearer, she tried standing without the wall.

Personally, I really like them as a couple (also this drawing is really amazing, I should have commented when I first saw it ) If Wit was King of Alethkar that would be insane and I would honestly love to read it also there's a club? can I join this club? ( even if I haven't finished RoW yet?)
  24. The officer was awake. oh well . . . Whist thought groggily, if we go to jail, Larsik can probably bust us out . . . The others seemed to be talking but she had a hard time understanding the words. Her vision was so blurry . . . Whist searched in her pocket for her glasses, she seemed to have forgotten they were on her face.
