  1. I agree with you for the most part Moogle, but to be fair, their skin isn't just black, it's black and red marbled pattern. Their armored carapace is described as orange or crimson. There is also the quote from tWoK from Dalinar: "Yet their faces--marbled black or white and red--looked so human." (tWoK pg. 381, locations 6944 Kindle Edition). I think because they are a proposed villain and mostly described as having black and crimson skin, that is what most people latch onto when thinking of the Parshmen/Parshendi.
  2. I guess spoilers matter even though the books been out for 2 weeks. I will edit the post above.
  3. I like the ardent for Nazh as well. Why does the OP think that Nazh is more Cosmere aware than Hoid?
  4. Could be that the orders least associated with Honor are those who were growing in corruption and that is why we only see 2 orders abandoning their oaths in the Recreance, although "they were just the first"? The other option is that you/we are reading that wrong. It is from the perspective of a person who is being "taxed". And we all know how that kind of thing works out for the taxer Perhaps the Radiants weren't acting in the wrong, but were from the other perspective. We only have 1 side of the argument...
  5. I'll send you a PM, but we're not really supposed to conjecture on non-published materials, which LoP counts as.
  6. Keep in mind too, Syl herself says that the Stormfather is "broken", so his rational thinking may be suspect. I blame the brokenness on the Recreance and losing his own Nahel bonded human...
  7. It would be plot relevant though to my thinking. "Unite them..." may infact refer to all humans like T thinks and is trying to do. By marrying Adolin, who could be in line for the throne (especially if Ehlokar realizes that he should step down and give the throne to his Uncle who may then die before his viewpoint book)... King Adolin and Queen Shallan would have a claim on the throne of Jah Keved, which would help them unite the human kingdoms. Shades of Hero of Ages... no?
  8. Wow, very different take on the character of Syl and spren in general. There may be something to this, though for me, not with Syl. When Kaladin discovered that Moash was on King guard duty, he SHOULD have reported the plot to Dalinar right there. In not doing so, he very actively did something against honor. Remember that Spren are made up of different levels of both Honor and Cultivation, so not all of them are as "discerning as honorspren" as Nohadon says in tWoK. As the bonds increase the Spren seem to remember more and more. Pattern seems like his memory is VERY impacted at the beginnings of Shallan being re-aware of him. Wyndle seems to be much more Cultivation spren, so the "molding" of Lift seems in line with that. Pattern's "lies" arent necessarily lies as we understand them, he has a problem communicating remember? He sees anything that is not strictly "TRUE" as a lie. So any metaphor/simile, etc are "lies" to him, even though they are vehicles of relating truth to the human mind.
  9. Interesting idea. we know that there is "language" bleed/crossover in the Cosmere, so that could be related to what you're seeing here? There does seem to be some linguistic similarities though. Overall, the Stormfather is a Spren, so I doubt that he is Jezrien (a Herald) in any meaningful way.
  10. Relevant WoB on this: Source We know that Skaze are splinters of Dominion (Skai) and Seons are splinters of Devotion (Aona), so I'm still not convinced about this overall theory.
  11. Way thread necro, but I found this while searching for a WoB related to the issue for another thread and thought I would post it here as well. Source
  12. I kind of hope they don't end up together, but it could happen... if they do, that would be a sort of foreshadowing, but very very lightly done!
  13. Makes sense... humans probably arrived/created with Honor/Cultivation. Odium would've had no reason to even think about Roshar before Humans. OR as some have speculated in another thread the Secret that caused the Recreance could be that desolations are caused by Honor/Cultivation in some way... so they still wouldn't have been there pre-humans. Unless - humans showed on Roshar prior to a Shard being present, in which case it could be an interesting implication.
  14. Unfortunately you don't get to "create" the magics, they are a combination of the planet, the Shard's power and the Realmatics... I'd first take Harmony, 2x power and Divine Zen is pretty cool. Then either Honor, Endowment or Cultivation. I don't like being the bad guy.
  15. I don't think you have to use the surges to get to Shadesmar. Shallan did so w/o burning any of her stormlight in tWoK, then later in WoR she is able to partially move back and forth a couple of times while practicing. Kaladin almost translates to Shadesmar at one point in WoR if I remember correctly. So even if Jasnah did get to Scadrial, which if Peter is confused by that WoB then the quote no longer convinces me, I don't think she would have required Stormlight/Investiture to get back. To Elsecall with the ring of fire thing that we see in the Epilogue though, she absolutely would have.
  16. Well put sir, well put. The only caveat that I would add, "Beautiful prose" is more difficult to craft than exceptional plots. I would argue that the transparency of Sanderson's prose makes it exceptional as well.
  17. There is a theory which I like, that relates to the Horneater "creation myth" of the Mountain god, the tree god and the water god. The theory holds that on Honor's death, the Mountain god left to take up the mantle of the storms, thus becoming the stormfather. While the tree god (Nightwatcher), and the water god (Cusciech) are still at their posts, though possible "broken" (some more than others) by the Recreance.
  18. Maybe Dalinar is the most powerful human on Roshar because of his already connection with Honor (via the visions) and.. In that light, it would be a legitimate statement.
  19. What if Awakening just imbues investiture into an object which already has a cognitive aspect (which we know they all do from both EoS and tWoK) and gives it the ability to be motile and obey commands semi-sentiently, and the more complex the command, the more sentience is required, therefore the more investiture and breaths... hence Awakening. Maybe Nightblood's conscious mind is really just that same semi-conscious object mind type that we saw when Shallan tried to Soulcast the stick into fire, but supe'd up on Investiture steroids? So Awakening, would be not a physical thing (though there are physical consequences/aspects), but much more of a "bestowing sentience in the physical realm to something which already has a sense of self in the Cognitive", thus allowing it to act and obey, and the more investiture, the more complicated the instructions. That would provide the link between Nightblood and the spren I believe.
  20. I was skeptical until you posted that last WoB... Now the possibility intrigues me!
  21. I love that Sazed is aware of and active in trying to protect Scadrial from other Shards (Odium...)
  22. I'm definitely open to that idea! Cusicech was in my opinion messed up by the Recreance far more than the Stormfather...
  23. I have just assumed that Syl's dislike if Hoid was related to her ability to sense his other Investitures...
  24. It appears to just be based on the Aon Omi Posts 9-12 all deal with that Aon
  25. I always thought the strong reaction was to just the inrush of breaths, but could be... could be... Either way, I wonder how Vasher is even managing to utilize the Stormlight... can he breathe it in like a KR? Similar to how Breaths are passed I wonder? Otherwise what are his options to access the Stormlight?
