  1. Maeve sat down, and pulled out two decks of cards. "Do you mind if I deal?" She said, as she poured champagne into two glasses that had been set out in the room.
  2. Name: Jane Cora Rae Age (between 8 and 18): 16 Gender: Female Talent: Unintentional Animal Magnetism. She draws animals near her wherever she is. Favored weapons (if any): Slingshot or throwing knives. Backstory: Jane Cora Rae was the youngest of a high family in the capitol. She's the least pampered, and gets away with quite a lot. She has a twin brother, Aspen Leo Rae, and three older siblings. She is closest with her eldest sister, Delilah Auburn Rae. Her parents rarely talk with her anymore after her talent killed her aunt, uncle, and her youngest sibling (a four year old girl). They were out for a gathering in the gardens when her presence attracted a wild stampede of horses. She has an ear in every gossip everywhere, and a lot of friends. She is a writer, and owns her own antique typewriter which is very important to her. She rarely gets in trouble when she should. Other info: She usually speaks in rhymes. Have fun with that. She's 5'3. Also she's of District Amyra Ay. Art (of your character):

@The Aspiring Archivist i don't even know where we are with Starfall but we can pick up next week

as many of you know, i have a show opening this week, and i'm really stressed. the cast + crew (46 people!) are staying at school every day until 9pm, and then 11pm on show nights. i also have tests, quizzes, and the same academic load of work, along with a piano national federation of music clubs coming up. oh also my puppy is still just 8 weeks old. so that's a lot of additional work. and i have a kitten.

so it's a bit of a tight spot.

but after i survive this week.

    (if i survive).

    i will return.

    i promise.

I’ll send you all of my luck for today because the worst that can happen is a four child stampede!

Keep on the lookout for a blue jar, both of you. It’ll fall from the sky in about three and a half hours.

  6. "Excellent." She cracked the door open slightly. "Care to join me downstairs?" She asked, not waiting for a reply. She walked down to the drawing room and entered an enclosed, small library space. On a wood plaque, the words "The Poker Room" were inscribed in gold. Many of the doors in the manor had these plaques, a helpful mark for guests while simultaneously showing wealth.
  7. "Let's play Short Deck, then. I'll add in two more decks, though, and then we'll separate. I can't have you counting cards during the game. Would it be alright if I threw in a few extra jokers and one spare Queen of Spades?"
  8. "Seven Card Stud, Short Deck, or Deuce to Seven?" She then added, "Oh! Or Follow the Queen?"
  9. "I swear, I am. If you'd like, we could play in the drawing room. I bet you'll win, even if you're dreadful at it."
  10. "Though I must say, I'm terrible at poker."

im happy for ya. (says this late) this kinda does hurt because i had a former friend with that name, but no worries.

  12. "I can never tell when you're bluffing," she explained, with a weak smile.
  13. "But see the real truth is, I'm scared to see what I may yet find."
  14. I'll finish this soon, just not tonight!! I'll try to remember, but if I haven't done it by the end of this week and someone notices, please ping me!! tysm + im so excited <333 OH MY GOD I'M SO HONORED
  15. "No. I couldn't." She laughed coldly under her breath. "How could I tell you when I don't even know myself?" She shut her eyes, her face suddenly displaying a look of pure pain. She was tired. She had a headache. She was in pain. But not from any sickness or pregnancy. Simply time. And her life. Her short life, shortened by a starfall. Yet still, all too long. "If only I knew what it was I truly needed."
  16. "Ah. There we are. I must make it for myself." She brushed a hand through her hair. "I must put my blood, sweat, and tears in this nearly impossible quest to belong. No." She sat down on her bed, looking out the window. "No, I cannot. I'm tired. I'm far too tired to try again. Somewhere else. Somewhere new. I was born here, and this is my fate. I have no more energy for fresh starts or false hopes. I'm also far too insignificant to leave the world behind. Who am I to try to find a home? For someone like me, it's not worth it. For someone like me..." She looked down. "We're a lost cause."
  17. She paused. "I want to know if I have a home, or if I simply have a life. If I exist with no real place of belonging or meaningful soul." She looked at herself in the mirror again. "Perhaps, if material items could be a home. If a book, or a painting, or even a clock could be a home to someone. Perhaps then, I could have a home. And have a place where I belong." She played with the rings on her fingers. "Or maybe I was only meant to be a carrier for other's feelings, as always. Maybe I wasn't meant to rise in power, and use my intellect to assist me. Maybe I was only created to assist others. Or give my child a life. And the greatest fear- maybe I wasn't created for any particular reason at all." She looked at him. "So you see, I must know if I have a home. Not a house. A home."
  18. "I want to know if I have a home."
  19. "What about material items, then? A book? A map? A clock? A painting? A tapestry?"
  20. "Do you have a home?" She paused. "Not a house." She looked him in the eyes, genuinely. "A home."
  21. "How many people know you, then?"
