Quest smiled, trying to hide his blush. "Thanks guys, I'll come if you want. But, um, who's splitting up with who?"

Miyako watched out the window as Vicius began to bring the carriage down to the side of the castle. Miyako eyed Vicius and laid a hand on her sword. "Tides, no. Why you heading towards the castle!?" Quest laughed awkwardly. "No, no. I, um, would just get in your way."

Miyako whistled. "Tides. That's some house."

Miyako nodded and looked over at Yerik. "Acolyte. I love positivity as much as anyone, but Geff was a jerk. Not an idiot."

Miyako pulled her eyes away from the bundle she had just handed Hyron and addressed Vicius. "What ya planning? You want to go chat with the guards or we just watching?" Miyako's eyes flicked back to Hyron and her smile grew bigger. @Ookla the Crow

I LOVE THEM BOTH. That is absolutely correct. This is just how I basically picture Quest. 10/10 job, quality work. The shading is phenomenal.

Miyako grumbled as she climbed into the back. "I've seen more impressive invisible carriages. This one barely scrapes the bottom of the list." She riffled around in her backpack and came out with a large smile. She handed Hyron a blanket wrapped around a round object. "That 'bout five -currency-."

Miyako slid up to Hyron. "Bet ya five -forms of currency that I don't think we have established yet- nothing happens", Miyako said quietly, displaying the trademark stupidity of a main character.

"Ok, yeah. Let's avoid that. Where we going again?"

"What does this Queen lady controlling someone actually entail?" Miyako asked.

Miyako folded her arms and pouted. "Fine", she grumbled.

"Hey! I'm just thinking over here. And I mean, if they aren't helping us, then might as well..."

"Tides. Um, we could go kill the crew. That way they can't spill your name."

Miyako snorted. "Barely know them. Me and Vine-" Miyako's face fell. "Tides. Acolyte..." Miyako turned to Vicius. "Why you asking?"

The CO2 concept I find fascinating. I would love to see that further developed if I was reading this book. Pretty solid opening. I'm not the biggest dystopian fan, but I hooked enough that I would read on.

Sorry, but Brandon isn't really on these forums. These forums are owned and operated independently of Brandon and his company. All of the discussion on here is generated from fans. Miyako walked over and laid a hand on his shoulder. She nodded and turned back the guy. She no longer sounded like she was halfway asleep, now Miyako had a direction. "We're finding his sister. If you want to help, great. But that's what we're doing. I'm not fighting the Queen, I'm helping Acolyte here." Quest reached for his papers before sighing. "Um, yes. I can make you guys some rune circles that can act as force fields and protect you from some, um, of the traps. Those are pretty experimental though. Besides that...you guys are probably best suited for this. This isn't really my expertise. I'll stay up here and work on active rune circles and decoding more of the language."

If you wanted to and had the time, feel free to draw either Quest or Miyako. Quest: Mid-twenties, with a curly brown mop of hair. He has short goat kinda horns sticking out of the top. Wire glasses, harry potter style, with a crack in one lens. Deep moss green cloak and staff with vines curling up it. Tattoos running up and down his arms, hard jagged red and flowing green symbols. Satchel with papers sticking out. The absent minded professor type. Miyako: Younger-twenties, asian women. Long straight black hair. Bit of straight bangs and the rest cascades down her back. Short, like 5 feet. Either wears one of those pointy, straw japanese hat things or wears it on a cord around her neck. Occasionally carries a large travel, camping backpack. Dark blue, grey and black clothing with a bright blue sash tied around her waist. Sword sheathed at her waist with a waterskin. Miyako can control the water in this to have it function as basically a flying sword. Quintessential murder hobo. Sorry, I have thought much about how these characters look. Take as much or little as you like.

Quest laughed. "Yeah. That's probably smart. But, um, what's the plan? Do you guys want to keep trying to get deeper into the house or what?"

Quest nodded, smiling at Kealie. He turned to address the everyone. "Sorry for, um, causing the explosion and subsequent fire that Kealie heroically put out. I..I probably shouldn't have used fire as the energy.... or tested the runes."

"No, your magic is fascinating. Don't discredit yourself. I wonder though, over time will you eventually stop believing Eej as you realize she is misleading you? Could you influence someone else's feelings and thoughts if..." Quest trailed off before blushing. "Sorry, you don't have to hear my ramblings."

Quest paused from pumping water. The crackling of the fire had stopped. Quest walked back towards the house. Inside, where the fire had been, only a charred floor and the embers of papers remained. "Kealie! I thought you weren't good at your magic." He gestured at the absence of flames before realizing she was wearing a blindfold. "Seriously, good job."

Quest laughed and ran out the door. The fire was still raging, but now that Kealie had made water they had a chance. "Do we need more?” Kealie yelled. Quest called back, "Probably!" Quest began to work the pump, filling more buckets with water.

Miyako shrugged and looked back at Hyron and Yerik. "Viney, Acoylte? Got anything to say?"
