  1. We all know their love/hate relationship. @Robin Sedai You found it!
  2. This reminds me of the time Calvin and Hobbes were playing hide and seek, but when Calvin was hiding, Hobbes went and read all of his precious comics...
  3. Aha thank you- I have now made a signature I am relatively happy with. You're welcome! Also, Alas, Good Calvin.
  4. Welcome to the Shard! It's a really nice place. The community is great, and you'll find that a lot of people like the same things as you (even not Sanderson books...). That seems like a good reading order. Which book/series do you like the most?
  5. 487. Having a sharp tongue means you're powerful.
  6. Oh. Don't have any of the books, but I've read some strips and they're amazing. Especially since a character is a fellow D&D player. You can see how his glasses are cracked in the last panel... Also (this is going to sound stupid but) how do you make a signature?
  7. Probably. Also, has anyone read Foxtrot?
  8. I also like your signature. Also, since Suzy and Calvin are the best- (Oh BTW sorry I went AFK for a bit I needed to take a shower) Remember the school play? Also, @Robin Sedai did you read the annotated Calvin and Hobbes book with the authors notes on the scenes and everything?
  9. "That's when I watch TV."
  10. All I can say is: This is Calvin in a nutshell.
  11. Yeah. They got more sophisticated, in some way. Also, I heard that there used to be pads on Hobbes hands, but they were distracting. I love your signature, by the way-
  12. The one where he steals Rosalyn's notes... Also the one where the teacher asks what state he lives in, and he says, "Denial".
  13. Someone please send a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.
  14. When you only can be killed when no one wants you dead. This would be so harsh...
  15. Power: The ability to freeze time. If I freeze time, I can go about and rob banks, and alter anything I would like, but nothing could hurt me. Weakness: People who are content with the time they have left won't be affected when I stop time. Cheesy Name: TimeStop/MinutesMaster/RealityShifter (all of those are suitably cheesy) Evilness: When they freeze time, the only way to un-freeze it is the kill somebody D:
  16. [Hi everyone... I hate to jump in here, but I was told that this was a good place to go if you were new. If I'm doing something wrong, let me know. :)] Sarian was cold. She hated being cold. Unfortunate things like that were for other people, not her. Whenever she shivered, the scars on her stomach hurt. She knew they weren't supposed to. She had gotten them years ago, and whenever she had gotten them checked, everyone said that they shouldn't be a bother. Yet they were. Something to do with psychological trauma or something. Either way, it was cold out, the city she was in was ruined, and she was tired. Then again, when wasn't she? I don't like the look of this place. Too many dark corners. Too many hiding spots. Too much Ruin. It reminds me of... She shook her head to clear it from that particular train of thought. It wouldn't help her. I'm fine... I'm fine... I'm fine... she repeated to herself. Up ahead, she saw a building with the lights on inside. With her fists clenched, she walked a bit faster than what would be considered normal, and finally reached it. She probably should have been more wary, but she wasn't feeling very cautious at the moment. She opened the door in a hurry, and before waiting for an Okay to go inside, she stepped in. It'll be fine. I can hear voices, and they don't seem to be particularly menacing. If I'm turned out, I'll at least have gotten inside a bit. "Hello," she called out.
  17. Okay, thank you! I was wondering where I would begin to start roleyplaying (which thread). Also, does intelligence just count for generally... well, intelligence?
  18. Okay. How does this sound: 1st Ideal Radiant: 90 points Mastermind: 65 points Assassination: Average, 40 points Flaws: Multiple fears: 30 Lack of social skills: 5 Superiority complex: 5 (Huh. The multiple fears could have gotten me a Shardblade.) Do I need to delete some more things, or can I go five points over?
  19. By the way, Dalinar tries to convince Ruthar to not duel, but actually, instead of him convincing Ruthar to not, actually, it only provokes Ruthar further.
  20. Okay, thanks! I'll add my character's backstory here: Her Name: Sarian (pronunced Sar-ee-on) Voldin Her Backstory: She was poor. Her father and mother were renowned historians, but after a scandal---since her father was a darkeyes---her parents had to leave everything behind. One of her eyes is violet while the other is brown, but she has a permanent lightweaving illusion around her brown eye to make it look purple. After their fall from power, her parents---her father a darkeyes of 6th dahn, and her mother a middle-class lighteyes---not used to not being able to rely on anyone, had their health slowly dwindle. When she was still a child, her family was found by a group of lighteyed thieves who took them over to a lighteyed estate and received a good deal of money for it. Her and her family were put in jail and beat beyond recognition. Her mother slowly went insane, and was killed. Her father, only kept around because of his intelligence, began teaching her everything he knew, and soon she surpassed him. Her father, overcome with grief, finally died too. Then she was left, and was going to die when a Cryptic came and bonded her. She developed scritophobia because the only reason she was kept alive was because of how she wrote. Her intelligence led her to becoming more important to the lighteyes who had taken them into custody then her parents had been to him, and she was forced to write essays, forge documents, write tax reports, etc. She never got over the fact that her talent for words led to her and her family being hurt. She never wanted to write for anyone else again, and developed the fear of writing in public, because someone could steal her words. Her words had been the only thing she had ever owned, and that had been taken away from her, something she didn't want to happen again. When she finally escaped, she swore she would murder the lighteyes who had hurt her family, and developed a hatred for thieves and villains, because they had been the ones to turn her family over to the lighteyes. She became one of them---an assassin and a mastermind---to hunt down other assassins. Of course, she'll do any job if you pay her enough for it. She learned 5 things from her expirience. 1. People---more specifically, thieves---will do anything for money. 2. No matter what, you have to make yourself useful. If not, you die. 3. Everyone else is weak-minded. Their minds will buckle under pressure. You're better than them. 4. You can't care about anyone else. Everyone just wants to hurt you. 5. Death is an everyday thing. In fact, it's an escape.
  21. I posted this somewhere else but just to make sure someone sees it and is okay with it, this is my character- 1st Ideal Radiant: 90 points Mastermind: 65 points Assasination: Skilled, 60 points Scholarship: Expert, 40 points Flaws: Holds grudges (-5), has a superiority complex (-5), has an extreme case of scriptophobia (-10), is greedy (-5), vain (-5), doesn't care about killing (-5), is bigoted against all other thieves/assassins (-10), very judgemental (-5), paranoid (-5), is neat and hates messiness to a fault (-5), very sarcastic and rude, no respect (-5), insomnia, somniphobia, and oneirophobia (this is due to her having nightmares of her parents dying, the fact that whenever she fell asleep working for the lighteyes she was beat, etc. -30), and phobophobia (-10 [I chose 10 because of her many phobias, and the fact that she can't deal with the fact she has these fears because she fears the fact she has those fears.]) Her Name: Sarian (pronunced Sar-ee-on) Voldin Her Backstory: She was poor. 22. Hey- this is my first Alleyverse character so... this is probably going to be a bit skewed. Any thoughts? 1st Ideal Radiant: 90 points Mastermind: 65 points Assassination: Skilled, 60 points Scholarship: Expert, 40 points. Flaws: Holds grudges (-5), has a superiority complex (-5), has an extreme case of scriptophobia (-10), is greedy (-5), vain (-5), doesn't care about killing (-5), is bigoted against all other thieves/assassins (-10), very judgemental (-5), paranoid (-5), is neat and hates messiness to a fault (-5), very sarcastic and rude, no respect (-5), insomnia, somniphobia, and oneirophobia (this is due to her having nightmares of her parents dying, the fact that whenever she fell asleep working for the lighteyes she was beat, etc. -30), and phobophobia (-10 [I chose 10 because of her many phobias, and the fact that she can't deal with the fact she has these fears because she fears the fact she has those fears.]) Edit: I needed to add a couple things.
  23. I actually love this ship so much. I made a topic on it where I express my very strong views on them. They are perfect for each other.
  24. "I can't do this." "I have lost who I am over these years." "I can't keep fighting." "I actually do care about this world. Jasnah-" (Sorry I am a Jasnahoid shipper-) "I have to let go." "I can't let go." "Who am I? I am not sure." I love him telling himself, "I am alone," But then realizing later, and having his fifth/fourth truth be: "I am not alone."
