As Sharlin nears the top of that portion of the island, she finds a tight cavity in a rock. It wouldn't be comfortable, but it looks too small for a Nightmaw to get in.

Forrest sighed. "The Capitol made a mistake bringing him here. They should have utilized his abilities for the construction of the arena and then actually kept him there. There's no need for him here."

"I suppose it is, at that..." Rashi sighed herself. "I try to comfort my son, but the truth is none of us know what it was like in there. Even Milay, who fought in the war, never had a moment where she was alone, where death was almost completely assured..."

His mind wandered to Pellee and Fifteen, who he hadn't seen since that morning... Out of curiosity he signaled an Avox aide, which waited in the halls to be called upon. A barbaric way to create servants...the amount of mental torture required to turn a rebel against the state into a mindless servant... "When you have a moment, please inform Miss Rozegaze that I would like to have a chat with her. She can contact me from her office. If require clearance to communicate through language, you have my permission to write a single note to bring her." The servant nodded, then turned and hastily walked away. Hm. A group of Meekers, small mouse-like creatures with a sharp tooth at the front of their mouths, seemed agitated by her presence, but didn't attack her. None of the plants seemed hostile either...yet. She was able to find a pack and a bow, and a single bright green kayak was left. The pack contained a machete, a pair of sturdy boots, a medical kit, a water bottle, and some fishing gear.

One kayak was left, along with several waterproof backpacks, some fishing supplies, and a few knives, machetes, bows, and crossbows.
