"Letters From the Cosmere" Official YouTube Series
Argent replied to TheBlueShifting's topic in General Brandon Discussion
This is an interesting project. I've been thinking about how to tackle the problem with newcommers to the Cosmere being overwhelmed with information, and a structured series of... any kind of media really could work well. I don't know if I can offer you any kind of useful feedback because of how familiar I am with much of the lore, but hopefully you'll get some from others. It's a good contribution to the fandom- 6 replies

I haven't seen anything about it being a limited print. I don't know anything about paperback either. Maybe you can check if any of your local stores have a copy? This page has a lookup link (though it's not working for me right now).

If it's old, it's about the unpublished White Sand, which automatically makes it non-canon. It's likely that it will end up being canon eventually, but as of yet it is not - so I'd bet it's okay to share it. Somebody posted it on Reddit and Brandon said it was okay.

Man, rave parties on Darkside would be so rad...
-
It's not in the graphic novel yet. Even the prose doesn't go much into it. This info is coming from the latest newsletter, however, which makes the information a fair game for everyone.

It's an interesting idea, I'll say as much. Not very likely, I think, but possible. I like it.

Crazy talk! Witch! Blasphemer!

Perpendicularities, as far as we know, are not (necessarily) physical objects. They are areas or regions where travel between the Cognitive and Physical Realms is possible, usually (always?) because of a high concentration of Investiture there, e.g. where Shardpools are. So asking about their reach is, I think, an invalid question. But you may still have a point! Do not despair, your existence is not without meaning! It is still possible that Autonomy's Shardpool is at that location. I feel like that would be too easy of an answer, but it's certainly possible.

Those of us who subscribe to Brandon's newsletter (and don't forget to check our emails...) know that this one's exclusive comes from Edgedancer, the Stormlight novella coming out in Arcanum Unbounded. I know Brandon doesn't want us just sharing those exclusives with the wide world, but I think we can talk about them? What's the forum policy here, how can we do this (if we can)?

White Sand Volume 1 Reactions (Unpublished Version Spoilers)
Argent replied to WeiryWriter's topic in White Sand
So, let's see. What's different. A couple of names have changed from their very Earthly origin to something more typical for a fantasy novel (e.g. Regent > Raagent, Eric > Aaric). I like it. I don't have strong feelings about Ais being a female. I agree that the written version lacked female characters, and I am very much fine with the genderbending, but that's about it. Nothing in this first release makes me feel differently about her compared to how I felt about her... previous incarnation. Outside of these things - and the Autonomy Easter egg - I don't think I have anything else to comment on right now. -
Yeah, I was pretty excited to see that particular Easter egg too! Surprised nobody brought it up in the reactions thread though.

As someone who has read the prose version of White Sand, I can say that a lot of questions (and concerns) I am seeing here will be addressed in the next two parts of the graphic novel (e.g. the magic theory, Kenton's Sand Mastery). Ais too will see more development, but I agree that she is not very exciting right now. If you are curious whether Hoid has appeared on page: As for my personal feelings, I've never been able to get into graphic novels, so it is no surprise that this one didn't work out too well for me. The Sand Masters looked far too similar, the dialogue doesn't feel right (though I suspect that's because it needs to be very snappy due to medium limitations), and it is often a little difficult to follow what happens in the action scenes. But I think all of those things are small prices to pay for just having the thing out there. I do love the portrayal of the Darksiders though, they - or at least Khriss' party - look appropriately like a culture that's more technologically advanced. One thing I didn't see anyone bring up was the reference to the sun - or the Sand Lord - being worshipped as a god in Kerza, and granting its followers autonomy. The word was even bolded for emphasis! Makes for a strong argument for a certain Shard being at least somehow related to the sun, if not outright Invested in it.
-
Doesn't sound like Khriss though. She is not native to Roshar, and this thing has a very in-world feel.
-
Huh, I don't think I have ever seen the one from The Way of Kings. It definitely sounds like something written by somebody who has been around since before the Aharietiam, and somebody who is native to Roshar as well. Not a whole lot of those, I think.
-
The next step, a lot more Khriss!
-
Oh, I guess I should comment on the answers to my questions, eh? Thank you for asking them, @Viridian! I am not surprised by either answer, unfortunately, but Marsh's identity as Death has always been something I've been interested in. Maybe we'll see how that particular belief started when/if we get his Secret History.

I just got received a phone call from the President, he says you are an absolutely marvelous human being! I will say though, the question about the relationship between magic and science is probably crowd-friendly, so if you can - and want to - you could ask it during the general Q&A, assuming there is one.
