Honestly, every time I tell myself "this is too much, there is no way Brandon outlined and researched this", Brandon shows up and proves me wrong. So these days I just assume he has outlined and worldbuilt everything.

Can you at least provide some examples of which glyphs you believe to be the Spiritual ones, as they are the most poorly supported ones? Maybe some of the Cognitive ones as well? The ones on the endsheet we can obviously see in this thread, I would just like to see more examples - and I can find them myself if you point me in the right direction.

It is no secret that I stalk follow Brandon's online presence carefully, and so I am often the one to report recent Reddit WoBs. This one is straightforward, though not groundbreaking: "There is no cognitive shadow of Mare hanging around."

And interesting bit of information came out of a recent Reddit conversation. Take a look, I'll just do a poor job summarizing it anyway. He then elaborated that "Roshar predates the shattering" (which we knew) and that "There are many things that are unique about Roshar, but it wasn't the only world created in this way."

Can you provide some examples, @1stBondsmith? I know we would like to have this be the case, but I don't know if we have enough evidence to support an idea like that.

I am left with a vague memory that it was brass, to allow Hoid to flare Shallan's curiosity. I seem to recall something about her curiosity being unnatural in those scenes.
-
The discussion on the Shards' numbers should probably belong to its own thread. As for the theory, I like it a lot. Also, I have a tiny bit of additional information I cannot share with you, but it also fits this theory. So good job, this is now my officially espoused theory on what that second chart is.

Yeah, pretty much. Hence my "this might not come as a surprise" preface.

This will, perhaps, surprise no one, but Brandon confirmed on Reddit that the act of Returning heals and restores the body. You can read the entire exchange by following the link (it has some interesting but not groundbreaking tidbits about Lightsong's own Return and how long it takes for somebody to Return), but the gist of it is this: Credit to /u/Phantine for asking the question(s).
-
I've asked Brandon similar questions on a couple of occasions, and the short version of his replies (because I am not a nice person and cannot be bothered to find the appropriate WoBs!) is: Yes, Shallan's - and any Lightweaver's - eyes would change color to match her Order's color, i.e. garnet. It wouldn't be as noticeable in Shallan because her light eyes make it more difficult for such effect to be noticed. This WoB might be an interesting one to find so we can get the details, but I am pretty sure that was the gist of it.

"Darkeyes" and "skaa" would've been really nice, but both have awesome protagonists that belong to them, it doesn't quite work... I suppose we could call them Mistings, under the premise that they are still awesome people (for reading and liking Brandon), but not quite as awesome as the rest of us (who read, like, and live Brandon). But I don't like it -

@Landis963 correctly mentioned the Ultimate List, but if I may an alternative, I have my own list It's not organized, and is usually heavy on the spoilers, but it also includes a couple of questions meant to be asked during the open Q&A (i.e. questions that contain minimal spoilers, and have the potential to be interesting to both Sharders and muggles*). * We really need a term equivalent to muggles, but without, you know, the Rowling influence. Drabs, maybe? -
I am kind of with @Mestiv on this one. If your stubble is not hard enough to scratch you a little bit, it probably won't look good on a full beard. Might be able to accomplish a nice stubble though, they are not only popular these days, but also look good and are easy to maintain. At the end of the day it's obviously your call, and I don't want to try to take the choice away from you. But I think there is value in giving advice about something I've had a very similar experience with.

Makes sense, doesn't it

We first (?) heard about it several years back during a signing in Orem. I don't know at which point we learned the protagonist was planned as a Terriswoman and a Necrosil Ferring. And we got a little bit more detail on the whole "Metalborn SWAT team" thing around the time Brandon was touring was Shadows of Self - you can hear him talk about it in his talk for Google.

For some reason I immediately discarded Nazh as a possibility for the soil-aware ardent. No idea why, as it would make the most sense. Somebody could look into whether their descriptions match.

My Paperwhite can't do that. It can be annoying at times.

Damnation, @joey found us, guys! Time to pack up and go open www.18thShard.com...

The Q&A forum is usually for questions that can be answered by other users - I doubt you'll get anything out of Peter on this one. If anything, Brandon might be willing to share his latest plans, as the general idea has been something he has been keeping us up to date on. Still, let's all PAFO.

He is saying that: The "screw you" lines are not there to screw with us. They are there because the original shape of the glyphpairs has evolved past the one that "made sense" linguistically. Reading (these) glyphspairs is not necessarily a viable option. So, let's take the kholin glyphpair - usually drawn as khokh and linil, shaped like a tower and a crown (or crown & sword, in Elhokar's case, but we'll ignore this for now). What we have been trying to do is look at the crown-and-tower glyphpair and split it into a crown (khokh) and a tower (linil). So if we had the image of the crown-and-tower, but didn't know it was pronounced kholin (which is very similar to the scenario we find ourselves in with the glyphs or glyphpairs for the Surges and Orders), we would examine the glyphpair, deduce that it consists of stylized khokh and linil glyphs (and we would do that by looking at the lines in the crown-and-tower glyphpair and trying to isolate individual letters from them, and guessing what glyphs those letters might compose), and then guess that the unknown crown-and-tower glyph would be pronounced similarly to kholin (because we would take one half of each base glyph). Isaac is saying this is not necessarily correct. The kholin glyphpair could've started off as khokh & linil, but time could've changed the details of its shape so that it could still resemble a crown and a tower, but the lines would no longer be neatly separated into khokh and linil - because of the "screw you" lines added throughout the ages. Obviously, the kholin glyphpair hasn't had enough time to "evolve" like the glyphpairs for the Surges and Orders have, so its lines are still clearly splittable into its base glyphs. Read over that previous point again, I know it might be a little... winded. I can elaborate if it doesn't make sense outside of my own head.

I come bearing news from the Thinker of Inks himself, Isaac Stewart! I took @Treamayne's idea to Twitter, figured going to the source might get us some answers, and indeed it did. He didn't answer the question directly, but I believe we are overthinking things, as usually.
