  1. Technically, what the prologue explains (in nowhere near as much detail as I would've liked...) is when and why the Parshendi acquired Szeth. It doesn't say anything about why Liss got rid of him, so it doesn't formally disprove the stuff you have been discussing. Rereading the thread, the only thing the prologue disproves is that Liss went and handed Szeth to the Parshendi. It is still possible that she got rid of him so that the Parshendi can pick him up, and it is still possible that she was aware of certain secrets he knows. So I take it back, the prologue doesn't disqualify this idea as strongly as I had previous implied. I still don't like it, but that's a personal dislike - I can acknowledge that it's possible.
  2. I think at this point it is common knowledge that the Oathbringer prologue PoV is Eshonai - and she touches on how they got their hands on Szeth. I won't go into details, even behind a spoiler tag (the transcript is available somewhere on the forums...), but I'll say that what I've read there seems to be support what Lyss told Jasnah - that Szeth spooked her and she sold him.
  3. Sure, but you have to keep in mind that Scadrial is pretty similar to Earth. And my intuition is that Brandon wouldn't go and change things as fundamental as these without a very specific reason - and as a last resort.
  4. Yeah, it's a thing with covers - authors can't always get exactly what they want. Wax also wears goggles, which he only does once in the book. It's a mistake that was identified too late in the drawing process and Brandon didn't want to make a fuss out of it - but you have his permission to pretend that Wayne is holding Wax's gun as a favor.
  5. I know I said I was going to listen to all the things, but this is just too weird to me =\ I watched the public Q&A, the first video (https://www.facebook.com/groups/368803339975431/permalink/626426507546445/), and there isn't anything too interesting from it, but I can't promise I'll get to the others. I think it bothers me that I couldn't be there, so watching those is... uncomfortable. Noteworthy from the public Q&A: Apparently "most of [Dragonsteel] is gone, and is now in the Stormlight Archive" - though I am not sure how seriously we should take this (or, to be honest, how relevant it is). Alethi tall man Lift sees in Edgedancer? RAFO There are some Navani viewpoints in Oathbringer. Whoever ends up transcribing the rest, I can jump in and maybe offer context to a question that had to be translated in English, but I would rather someone else do the bulk of the listening... If it's any consolation, I don't expect there will be much to transcribe, I think the second day was mostly a writing lecture.
  6. Your ability to find those things is pretty uncanny... I had to contact the publishing house that invited him there to get half of those links.
  7. There is a half hour video on Facebook that I won't get a chance to go through until much later today, so I don't know what's in it. Re: Eshonai WoB. I've been thinking about what's happening with her, and I am starting to suspect a (large?) piece of either her mind or soul has been replaced by the stormspren she bonds with. I had a vague feeling that the comet-like spren she starts seeing is that piece of her, but I wanted to finish my Words of Radiance reread and extract the relevant passages before I formulate this as a theory.
  8. Make sure you record the event, yo! I can translate & transcribe if necessary. And make a good impression, don't fail me :3 (he already likes the food)
  9. That, then is a valid reason (as far as I know; Shin are weird).
  10. Eh. I was actually hoping you would've just chosen the name for fun. I wasn't trying to dwell on potential personal issues. Respond as you wish, I won't (potentially) intrude.
  11. Do you... not get along with your father? Shin tradition dictates you append your father's name (as a male child), so you would skip that and go to your grandfather ("son-son") only if you didn't want your father's name associated with yours. Also, welcome. We are all nerds in here.
  12. That's one of the (admittedly many) things I haven't been able to crack. I am confident that the "regular" sounding names for the Heralds - Nale, Jezrien, etc. - are their real names, and the Vorin people, or maybe the Dawnsingers, gave them holy names to match the symmetry they already revered. I don't doubt that. But I can't decide why stuff happened in this order.
  13. Hard to tell. It doesn't seem overtly spoilery though, and it's not a big spoiler to begin with, so you'll probably not hang for this.
  14. Same. I have to wonder though, do we know that the reason the Returned come back to life is to give up their Breath? Could it be that they Return for a reason (they want to do something about the visions of the future they see), but that reasons doesn't necessarily have to include them giving up their Breath?
  15. I don't think I agree with this idea. To me, it looks pretty clear that Renarin was giving up there, and any alternative explanation - especially one as convoluted as the one you propose - would need some solid evidence. Syl also outright says she saw a Cryptic in the arena, so we know that too.
  16. I think 5 was one of the better ones. 6 was weird, and 7 was good again. But it's up to you, it's definitely a weird show.
  17. Each book has an audio sample - give those a listen. I find them enjoyable, but not good enough to replace the book. They are really nice for a "reread" though. The sound effects can, at times, be a little excessive, and the voice acting can sound forced sometimes, but I tend to like them.
  18. Yeah, the actual quote says before Era 4, I just hadn't read that far yet. You got me before I could edit my post @She Who Cannot Be Named, the origin of Oathbringer are, technically, a spoiler so you should at least mark them so in one of your recent replies.
  19. You are sure about this? Dragonsteel before Era 3? Because this seems unlikely.
  20. Oh, look, I replied to that comment a year ago...
  21. We do? It doesn't surprise me, but I don't recall that.
  22. Soulcasting does work kind of like that, yes, but Elsecalling is more about teleportation than different realities.
  23. I see. I'll recheck the artist's website, maybe he moved things around.
