An interesting note on the term "Zinc-Tongued Raven" is that not only the fact that it could serve as analogous for our 'Silvertongue' but- Wax also mentions during the party in BoM that ravens are often the symbolic depiction of TLR's 'Wraiths' (Which we know to be Inquisitors). So I suppose that adds a bit more depth to the phrase as well.

Kind of like a silver-tongued devil, yeah, I dig that.

Theory time: (well, really more of something I found interesting)

When Adolin is healed by renarin, he sees a vision of his perfect self. The truth watchers have a combination of Illumination and Progression. My thought is that progression and illumination combine to show the perfect self, and then bring the healed part over from that’s perfect self. Sort of like (massive Reckoners Spoiler) how

They could use illumination to find the perfect self, and then heal accordingly. This has limits- like how Kaladin couldn’t get tattoos because he didn’t see them as part of himself, or that his brands wouldn’t heal.

TL; DR Truthwatchers use spiritual illumination and physical progression to heal people.

I've seen similar ideas in the time since Oathbringer, and my big issue with them is that such complexity just doesn't seem necessary. Progression, like most magical healing in the Cosmere, already uses the patient's Spiritual Aspect to figure out what state to restore them to; adding Illumination, let alone Spiritual Illumination (something we don't really know exists, though I personally think it does) to the mix just seems... unnecessary. But I understand the desire to make Truthwatchers special in a way similar to how the Bondsmiths are, given their place in the Double Eye.

I understand that, and I probably was more harsh than I should have been, but Sixth of the Dusk is the only Brandon story I've listened/read only one time.  I feel absolutely no desire to give it another listen.  I would probably rate it between Lame and Meh.  For some authors that's okay, but his second worst story in my opinion is White Sand, and I'd put that as Okay.

All of this is fair - your tastes are your tastes, and there's nothing wrong with disliking any of Brandon's stories. I only take issue with the way you voiced you... expectations. Wishing he would work on something you personally are more interested in is fine; being angry when that doesn't happen is less so. Especially when it's not really this sequel is 1) not really taking from his time on bigger projects, and 2) not even in the writing phase. The Silence Divine has had about as much written, and Brandon hasn't really spent any time on it in years.

But I trust you get my point, I don't need to keep making it.

As an interesting side note, I read this in your voice, which I know thanks to shardcast.  It was kind of weird to hear your voice in my head like that, but cool.

That's... definitely interesting :D Thank you for listening.

BOOOOO!!! I hate sixth of the dusk, but I'm especially mad that he's doing this instead of working on something that I actually like.  Lost Metal was supposed to be finished LAST YEAR!  He has yet to start it.

A lot of the work for this is going to be done on airports and in airplanes - times when he can't really work on bigger things. We are not getting this instead of something else, we are getting this in addition to everything else. If Brandon wasn't working on this, he'd be working on some other short novella - or sleeping, I suppose.

I am sorry you don't like Sixth of the Dusk, but this seems like a bit of a strong reaction to something we don't even know much about.

I really enjoyed @Argent‘s ideas about what may have caused a first desolation so quickly. That was really fascinating. I was just wondering if we knew the people from Ashyn were the first people to come to Roshar? Don’t we know that humans on Roshar have come from different places at different times?

I am really happy with that one :) It felt right.

Just because it was in the table does not mean it was canon. Brandon has said that Feruchemy has 8 Physical metals. On top of that, BoM throws out Feruchemy table out of the window, so I'm not sure what's your point.

These tables are as canon as they can be as of Era 1. What's the issue here?

Wow @Argent, lol. Welcome to ThirstCast!

On the co-written stuff, I quickly soured on the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. I really enjoyed Dan Wells book I Am Not A Serial Killer. I think I could trust them together, because they're also fun to listen to on Writing Excuses.

    It's good cosplay, okay!?
