Right, The Gathering Storm. I voted for Elantris, but really it was TGS. It's all been in order of publication for me (except for his short story in the Games Creatures Play anthology, which for some reason I still haven't read).

Fair enough. I just interpreted it differently - he was getting ready, took the necklace from wherever he kept it stashed, left it on the night table for some reason (needed his hands or whatever), and forgot about it.

See, I felt that scene was kind of... it was obvious what Anthony Ryan was doing there, keeping Vaelin from drawing his sword throughout the entire book, building up to this moment so he can show (again) how incredible of a swordsman he is. And because of how obvious that was, the build-up didn't work for me, I expected a scene towards the end where he turns unstoppable.

Do we? I was under the impression that he only took it up before duels, as a part of his ritual.

It's possible, I suppose, but everything we have seen - including accounts from Shallan and Pattern - indicates that it was the trauma of Shallan's mother's death that led to Shallan suppressing her bond. The evidence for this is this is, I think, overwhelming.

Female Villains in Epic Fantasy (General Spoilers)

I don't think I agree with this. Let me hide my response behind a spoiler: Mistborn Trilogy -
Darksteel?

Note: Android also supports low-density (LDPI) screens, but you normally don't need to create custom assets at this size because Android effectively down-scales your HDPI assets by 1/2 to match the expected size.

Apologies, I obviously remembered it wrong. Good to know then!

I read both, Blood Song a few months ago, Tower Lord a couple of weeks ago. I must confess, I wasn't really impressed by either one - they were decent reads, and I will continue reading the series, but I've read more than a few books that were better, and not only by Brandon.

The Republic of Thieves is a pretty fantastic read, I enjoyed it more than the previous two in the Gentlemen Bastards series.

Qs and As from the London signing
Argent replied to Sabrina Stormshard's topic in Events and Signings
Because we are outside both the Elantris and the Cosmere Theories subforums. If I were in the Warbreaker subforum, I would still tag Elantris information as a spoiler, I think. But it's possible that I am being overly cautious. -
Shame on you, we knew this one already.

Considering that they don't work on the same world if one party is moving, I am going to guess that different Shardwords won't work. It looks like the distance between each pair of spanreeds has to remain constant since the moment of their linking. Jasnah reading, much excited! Nazh's birthplace confirmation - slightly less excite, his cursing was a solid clue already. -
I tried to see it as a necklace, but it doesn't work for me. It doesn't look like it sits on top of the skin, it looks like it's part of it. Plus, there's the color.

Knowing this would tell us what metal Shardplate was made of - which is something we don't know. Assuming it's made of metal at all. I want to see someone stick a magnet in one of those things...

Female Villains in Epic Fantasy (General Spoilers)
Argent replied to Mistdork's topic in General Discussion
That's exactly what I was thinking - and Evil Queen would work just as well as an Evil King in Mistborn. Can't go into specifics in the General Discussion forum, but none of the things The Lord Ruler did were explicitly male-centric. He throws a few punches here and there, which works better for a man, but considering that most of his influence on the outside world comes from emotional Allomancy, a genderswap might actually help more than it would hurt (playing on the classical "women are better at emotions" trope). -
You will also notice that she appears to have a skin condition.

Three White Sand Comics from Dynamite, First in 2015
Argent replied to Argent's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I imagine he would. -
Okay, so after going through about a thousand strips this morning (it's possible that I like this comic...), I see that Ava's demon is almost certainly not intended as a metaphor. She still works like one, but only for the first couple of chapters, when we don't know anything about her. Is there an RSS feed somewhere I am not seeing?

In Jordan's defense, they are also much fewer in numbers. You've see, what, four of them? Five? Off the top of my head I can think of Amys, Sorilea, Bair (?), something with M, and I think I am forgetting one. Much easier to create half a dozen distinct characters than to come up with dozens, if not hundreds of Aes Sedai, and to make sure they are all unique enough to feel like individual characters, and similar enough when they share an Ajah to show that Ajah's "personality." But I am mostly playing the devil's advocate here. I wish the Aes Sedai were handled better too.
