Thanks for pointing out the quote, I read RoW and then immediately began rereading the first three books, and kind of forgot a lot of the RoW details x_x it's interesting to me that Adolin seems to communicate better with Testament than Shallan herself, here, despite Shallan having the bond. Adolin the deadeye whisperer? I also enjoy Shallan's trauma/memory stuff, I know it annoys some people but that kind of psychological examination is something I enjoy. Reading books, for me, is a way to engage with fictional people's vulnerabilities in a way that's not necessarily possible in real life.

Was "Testament" not named Testament back in Shallan's youth? I completely missed that if so. And maybe, in the Cryptic language, everyone's name is a numerical pattern of sorts, thus everyone is a pattern but the numbers are different. The Cryptics adopt different nicknames for ease of humans, Shallan gets the actual 'Pattern' because she's the 1st lightweaver of the post-recreance radiant generation (citation needed?)

Ah, I swear there's a WoB saying that bonded spren can turn into things besides blades, it just requires the right Perception. (Well, maybe he was thinking about shardguns or something when he said that, not Soulcasters.) But, if Soulcasters are recreanced-spren, wouldn't they be deadeyes? Instead they appear to be sleeping in Shadesmar.

I just finished a TWoK reread and it felt kind of funny how hard Sanderson worked to establish the Vorinism worldbuilding and a few books later none of it seems to matter. For what it's worth, I don't think Shallan really thinks much about religion nowadays, but Navani does still burn glyphwards as prayers.

Fish and humans (in the physical realm) appear as little flames in shadesmar, so wouldn't bacteria be the same? (That's a lot of little flames.)

I also didn't, and I'm the kind of person who latches on tiny interactions to ship gay couples (lol). I'm hoping that we'll see more of their on-screen interactions in the next book, without having to wait until Renarin's book in the back 5. As for singers having 4 genders, I think people on here consider male/female (forms capable of reproducing) as two separate genders from malen/femalen, which are neuter.

Wait, how would a Regal Radiant produce their own light? Also, I'm pretty sure Venli doesn't actively consume voidlight to power her envoyform abilities (although perhaps that's because it's "passive"). Singers can hold non-voidspren forms indefinitely, without recharging, so I suppose Regal forms probably come with innate powers too?

Painspren—warform—Stoneward plate? Creationspren—artform—Lightweaver plate Logicspren—presumably, scholarform—Elsecaller plate There's also meditationform, but I have no idea what its spren could be. We also know (or strongly suspect?) that the secondary spren of Bondsmiths is gloryspren, but again I'm not sure if that would correspond to a particular singer form.

Thank you @KandraAllomancer, that's the kind of thing I was curious about. I managed to acquire a Turkish copy of The Way of Kings, and skimmed it to see how things were translated. Some names, such as "Stormblessed", "Gallant" (the Ryshadium), and "cosmere" were not translated at all, and instead a glossary at the back explained their meaning. Surgebinding became "dalgabağlama", which means... wavebinding(?) and sounds very awkward to my ears. Tho to be fair, "surgebinding" also sounds rather weird in English. Stormlight, Windrunning, Soulcasting etc were all translated literally, with varying levels of awkwardness. "Parshmen" & "chull" were left untranslated. "Crem" became "krem", for pronunciation reasons I suppose. "Voidbringer" became "yokelçi"(nothing-envoy), but they also translated "Herald" as "Elçi", which is an interesting parallel They also translated the book's ketek while retaining its symmetry! This might be easy or hard depending on the grammatical structure of a language, but it worked in Turkish.

Stormlight is called such, not because storms are inherently honorable, but because the highstorm provides it. Towerlight is called such because Urithiru is a tower. I'm kinda convinced that Navani and Raboniel hear the rhythm of war precisely because they are on the opposite sides of a conflict. In some other context, the H+O combination could be something else (don't ask me what tho)

Also I love that this is under the lore and magic discussions; figuring out how our ships are gonna function is a crucial part of the lore indeed But also, to answer your question, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch for a singer to be like "hey I like this human, and they like me back, let me try going into mateform and see if we have a fun time". A component of having (romantic or platonic) relationships is to try different things together, after all. I suppose you'd have to talk about it beforehand and establish that there may be boundaries that you don't want to cross, for instance there can be romantic cuddling and some foreplay, without being like "we're going to make babies."

Huh, I see where you're coming from with this. I agree that there's some similarity, but I'd never considered it myself, because I've always approached the enslavement of the singers from a conquest/colonialism perspective. My first time reading TWoK, I was pretty disturbed by the presence of parshmen and how no one thought twice about them; characters show more consideration towards their horses than they do to the parshmen tbh. As for robots in general, there is also a particular RoW plot point that may be relevant to this discussion—but we're not in the spoiler boards so I'll keep quiet

Interesting, as Kelek calls BAM just "Mishram". If Raboniel is indeed talking about BAM, could the emphasis on different parts of the name indicate something? (Perhaps "Mishram" is the original name, as many people have speculated.) But then this WoB...:
