Especially since I've got a new one to post now This is another picture of the Good Hemalurgist (who I believe I shall call Gulav). He's holding up one of his spikes- most of them are pretty small so as to be quick and safe to swap out when needed. I tried out some more subtle shading on this one. Maybe I'll start putting in backgrounds as well. . . or, at least I would if I could ever come up with what should be there.

True, but Hemalurgy can't take Cognitive aspects from a donor, just the Spiritual aspects that then have an effect on the recipient's Cognitive aspect, such as having boosted memory or intelligence (WoB). Though the roundabout Feruchemy method should still work, I'd think. But on the other hand, it's still a cool idea and I'd just disregard what I say against it if you like the concept for your character You know, I wonder if I should make a post about that concept- it sounds somewhat plausible to me; you could give yourself an attribute spike and gain the magical boost it provides, though you'd have to quickly remove the spike (after writing down the memories inside, in this case) before it turned you into a monster. Also could make an interesting story point in a MAG setting. You're welcome- I can swing around to give you nightmares anytime As a side note, I was thinking up of a character that followed a similar rout; they'd be a Steel Inquisitor that stole a Keeper's Copperminds and managed to access them with the Feruchemy stolen from that Keeper (possibly to get info necessary to hunt down the other Keepers). The memories they take would war within them and cause the Inquisitor to truly question their loyalty the TLR and his ministry.

Yay! They have fulfilled their purpose then Ah, good to know

Yeah, sounds more like the Punisher. . . Interesting. I don't know if Hemalurgic copper would straight up work for that, but if you grafted on F-copper via Hemalurgy and forced them to store their memories (maybe by breaking into their Spiritweb via the Hemalurgic Flaw), then spiked them to get a sufficient Identity to draw those memories, that might be a more roundabout way of making such a tactic work. Is he a Kandra that can avoid the physical warping of Hemalurgically added human attributes, or did he find another way to sidestep it? Also, does drawing those memories cause weird complications? Does he have personality alteration and whatnot that he has to fight against? Could be some interesting storytelling potential there.

Thank you! It's my most recent one Feruchemical gold is his primary spike- it's just too good an ability to pass up. He sometimes swaps between Allomantic pewter and steel (or uses both at once when he's able) since both are powerful and versatile metals. He has a few others he can use when needed, though he needs to swap them out (such as A-bronze)- he's aware that he should only have three spikes in at a time or bad things start happening. As for spiking enemies, yes, there would be times that he'd consider doing so, such as if he were to face someone like Miles (or other highly Invested Cosmere entities immune to traditional forms of killing). I don't think that would be his go to method though, as he's somewhat concerned about the idea that he may be permanently scarring the people he spikes for the afterlife. . . he's pretty sure he isn't (he's been spiked himself and recovered from it), but as he sees it you can never be too sure. . . He's mostly using spikes taken from other Hemalurgists he's had run ins with, but he has spiked out pieces of himself a few times in an attempt to study the process of Innate Investiture becoming functional Allomantic or Feruchemical powers (all attempts thus far have failed)- he's healed back the lost pieces with his Feruchemy, but he really hates the process. It beats spiking innocent people though. Could make for a really cool MAG setting! Not sure as of right now, though I'm leaning toward Gulav or Wyrid- the first being more Scadrien sounding, the second a little more unique.

Me as a Hemalurgic enthusiast: -
A Hemalurgist character that I came up with for the Mistborn setting. He never charges spikes from unwilling people- only willing donors when the need really arises (also takes spikes from other (morally bankrupt) Hemalurgists or uses himself as the donor for spikes- which he then patches up with Feruchemical gold. Ouch).

Sorry, I don't want to double post but if I don't then this thread won't recognize that I'm putting new material down (and then people won't see it). Do you think that's alright? anyway, it's been a while, but I've got a few new drawings that I'd like to post Also, I got a better camera to take the pictures of my drawings, so they're a bit better I think.

The one that creates Light of the Mind, which enhances the intelligence of whomever it touches- you learn more quickly and can memorize better and all that. Hence the joke -
Measuring the Investiture and efficiency of that Investiture in practice is something that would be really, really good to know. Once we get to that point we'll start actually getting Invested units and whatnot, which is something I've been really looking forward to. But how to do it (in world, that is)? Well, here's a few Ideas of mine (please feel free to pitch in and come up with more ways to measure the Investiture as well). 1. Using a spectroscope to determine Investiture amount; a spectroscope was used in TLM by Wax to determine whether Trellium was a Godmetal, and it seemed that the Set used a similar device to determine the amount of Investiture inside of a Hemalurgic spike. This device could be used to determine the baseline of Investiture for Hemalurgic spikes and Metalminds. This would also be useful to tell what the size categories are for Metalminds and Hemalurgic spikes when it comes to storing Investiture in ideal vessels (WoB). 2. Feruchemical practice; with this method you just hire a Feruchemist to store attributes of certain types for certain periods of time at certain percentages. Then you use the aforementioned spectroscope to tell how much Investiture is inside. This will tell the level of Investiture that each attribute actually equals- different Allomantic powers equal different levels of Investiture, so Feruchemical ones likely follow suit. Then have the Feruchemist tap those attributes at fixed rates so that the level of attribute loss due to compression can be determined- then we'd finally know just how long one must store to get a set amount of time at X amount of tapping. 3. Hemalurgy and decay; this one is pretty simple. Just take a spikes with a set amount of Investiture (determined by a spectroscope) and let it sit and decay naturally, testing it on occasion to tell how the rate of Investiture loss. Different amounts of starting Investiture, varying sizes of spikes, and periodically stopping decay and resuming it could determine how much those factors impact the rate of decay. 4. Hemalurgy and practice; you could use Hemalurgic spikes that have a determined amount of power inside them to tell how much of an effect they give the wielder. For example, you give a Hemalurgic spike to the test subject (in an easily removable way, such as an earring) that grants Allomantic pewter. The subject would have had their natural strength determined beforehand. They burn pewter under the effects of spike and you use the new amount of weight they can lift to tell how much actual strength the spike gives. Repeat the process with more spikes of various levels of Investiture to determine the rate of efficiency you get with more and more Investiture being squeezed into a small space (i.e., I don't think that 200% of the Investiture of the spike would yield 200% the muscle strength- we see that Feruchemy doesn't work that way, so Allomancy and other Investitures are likely similar). You could use a similar process with Hemallurgically granted Feruchemy to determine the efficiency of storing or tapping attributes at higher or lower levels of Investiture.

"I can't come up with anything! I'm not clever enough. . . wait, actually, I just got an idea. . ." Oops, I thought you meant Aon Ene, not Aon Ehe. Totally different things, but yeah, making fire could be cool. -
As @alder24 mentioned, yes, Hemalurgic spikes will always retain at least a slight Invested charge, though it's possible that it would eventually lose all practical effects with the exception of cracking open your Spiritweb to outside influence. It might be interesting to see if the old Inquisitor spikes (now Pathian earrings) could be reforged to make Hemalurgic spikes with greater power. After all, they lose some their Identity when they decay, so maybe there would be no Identity Contamination to prevent spikes made from different people from being combined.

Hey there! Welcome to the 17th Shard , I'd love for you to see (and comment on) my hypotheses.
-
, In all seriousness though, I'd say probably not; blood is considered part of the body which would have a spiritual impact on it, making it viable to trick a spike into thinking it's inside a body. Urine is a waste product and thus it probably does not have the same effect on Hemalurgic decay.

It's possible that's already been done. . .

It appears that I am now an Elantrian- I guess a Forger rewrote my past to say my parents Worldhopped to Sel and I grew up in Arelon. . . Welp, I'm now one of the most powerful non-Shardic entities. Any ideas as to what I should use it for? -
Oh, just had another idea of how to use the Spanreeds @Duxredux; you use Navani's method of moving a Spren over to a larger gemstone to make two Spanreeds of unequal strength. Use the bigger Spanreed to make a much larger Aon that perfectly mirrors the smaller one. You could use this method to make stronger Aons more quickly and easily. Or maybe you could use the reverse method as a Forger; Forgery requires very small and detailed. . . runes (Do we know what Forgery's "Aons" are called?) on the stamps and linchpin plates. So a Forger who used the larger modified Spanreed on a Soulstamp could make a much smaller and more detailed Soulstamp as a copy. For both examples it might take some practice, as you'd need probably need to apply more force on one Spanreed to affect the other, but I think there could be some pretty interesting applications for it.

Hydrangeas are proof we’re part of the Cosmere…
Trusk'our replied to Turos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't know if this is a joke or not- if it is, then I apologize in advance (I'm notoriously bad at being able to discern these kinds of situations)- but the Earth is confirmed via WoB to canonically not be part of the Cosmere; -
Whoa, now that's thinking outside the box! I'd say it could be made to work as long as the Intent is there- the rubies of the Spanreeds are spiritually conjoined, so using one end to draw a functioning Aon on the other should work, as they'd act as if they were a single continuous piece.

Yes, his Compounding is a huge advantage; know for a fact that he can Compound steel and pewter, and possibly others as well. So I'd definitely rank him higher than a disgruntled Mistborn for combat purposes at least. It's important to note that Compounding isn't infinite or unbeatable though; There are practical limitations to tapping (F-steel can only make you go so fast before wind resistance burns you up, F-pewter has limits based on how big you can make your muscles before you lose maneuverability, etc.) and there is also a limit to how much Feruchemical power you can carry around on your person due to space in your Metalminds. But still, those limitations aren't that big from what we've seen thus far. Also, welcome to the 17th Shard! I'm honored to have my thread be the first for you to post on
