  1. Interesting. I didn't know that Adonalsium was directly opposed to Spren having sapience. Can you provide the WoB?
  2. Ah, okay (I see now that this was in the portion of your text that I quoted now ).
  3. Looks amazing! Is that zinc natural color, or is it painted?
  4. Yeah, they ended up posting there thing after mine, I think. I'm pretty sure they made it a while ago, but kept it on the Hombrewery website.
  5. Do Shades absorb Investiture from their victims? I thought that they just infected Threnodites and turned them into separate Invested beings. Still, pretty fun build
  6. The Metallic Arts are my favorite too. I love all the cool and crazy hacks one can think up of with them. Nice! I'm trying to make a homebrew for D&D that will allow people to play a Mistborn themed game, and a Cosmere wide game eventually.
  7. Don't they only get enraged at the act of drawing blood? Silence mentions that a nosebleed wouldn't be dangerous. Coppermind wiki on Shades: Since this is the case, spilling blood in a Coppercloud and later leaving the area should be fine. The same goes for fire; lighting the fire is what causes Shades to become enraged, and there are even people who sell previously lit flames, if I recall correctly. They do usually move around you as well (at least during the day), unless they're actively chasing you. Though you're right, running around without reason probably isn't a smart idea, Coppercloud or not.
  8. Seems like a build utilizing A-copper would be amazing for this scenario then, as you could break The Rules to your heart's content, but your enemies couldn't, meaning you don't have to limit your offensive abilities. What's more, you can run and set up cooking fires as long as you have some of the slowest burning metal in your gut.
  9. That's a really cool idea, I love it! When I get around to adding in Cosmere-wide shenanigans to my D&D Mistborn homebrew I hope to add something like this in for the Elantrians, if you don't mind.
  10. Probably, yeah. Compounding is a game changer for early eras in Mistborn, as there is no other competing source of easily accessible Investiture. I think Compounding will be unlocked again in the 3rd or 4th era, as by then technology and Invested powers will become wide spread enough to keep it from breaking the game. It will likely still be useful, but not super-duper busted. I actually wonder if harnessing the Mists directly to fuel Allomancy and Feruchemy will become the default for of power in era 4. Might even make Compounding obsolete.
  11. You should have seen my face when I saw the name of this thread Overall, I think that this is a really, really cool idea and I hope it's true. However, while this is a possibility, I don't see a lot of definitive proof for it. Plus, even though a Hemalurgic construct made with copper spikes would probably have some genius-level intelligence, making them in the first place seems unlikely without some Metallic Art hack or Shardic intervention; as @Returned said, Rashek had one thousand years to create new Hemalurgic constructs, yet he never once succeeded, and he already had some personal experience with Shardic manipulation from wielding the power of the Well of Ascension.
  12. Sounds neat! Does the planet have a unique magic system? If so, it's possible that Worldhoppers come to the planet in an attempt to harness it.
  13. Hello there! I see you're new here. You may want to introduce yourself on the Introduce Yourself thread so that we can get to know you a little better
  14. The thought never entered my mind, actually. Lightsong does act a lot like Wit though. I'm assuming you read SA before Warbreaker?
  15. Awesome! What magic system is your favorite and why? Also, do you also play D&D by any chance?
  16. As a heads-up, this post is going to talk about personal feels, failure of responsibility, and feelings of depression, so. . . you have been warned. Now, when I read Yumi months ago, I felt a sudden click when the scene with Painter's friends came up- I knew Painter's dilemma, at least in part. . . and then there was the scene where Yumi blows it off as seeming noble, or at least coming from an origin of love. I don't believe that was the case, and it disturbed me more than a little when this came up. It made me feel that, no, there is nobody like me, it's just me and my idiocy that would be so arrogant as to have acted as I had. I realize that this is a very strong opinion, but that's how I felt, at least at the time. I wish that Yumi and the Nighmare Painter had portrayed Painter as a more selfish individual, made his reasoning for his actions more relatable to people like myself, but perhaps this is a selfish wish in and of itself. I also realize that this is not like the usual posts I make, but I felt the need to get this off my chest. Maybe someone else who reads this will be able to relate and can feel some measure of comfort that they're not alone. If you instead feel like this was cringy or irritating, then I apologize.
  17. I'm actually pretty convinced that we will. One of era 3's antagonists will be a Mistborn, which leans into that trope a bit. Plus, with the way technology is progressing on Scadrial creating a Fullborn would be much, much easier, but more importantly, countering a Fullborn will become much, much easier. They're super busted, yes, but on a personal scale- a society with access to create advanced Unsealed Metalminds, Harmonium cubes (especially with A-chromium and cadmium), technologically advanced weapons, and aluminum gear is going to win if a Fullborn goes rogue. I suspect they'll actually make something akin to a Fullborn, perhaps as a kind of super-soldier, though they'll keep a close eye on them and perhaps limit their power a little. Basically, this means that it's possible to reintroduce them into the world of Mistborn for story purposes, as they won't completely disrupt the narrative. But yeah, I would be quite surprised if we end era 4 and haven't seen at least one more Fullborn in the story.
  18. Duuuude, that's such a cool detail, I love it! I figured they'd just be stainless steel, but this is so much cooler! I love it, hope to see them once they're finished! Nice choices! Mine favorites are steel, pewter, iron, nicrosil, and duralumin. For now, anyway; it usually changes based on which hacks I can think up of for a metal at any given time.
  19. Greatshells have regular hearts as well as Gemhearts;
  20. It looks amazing! I hope you'll show us the end product once it's done! Also, I'm guessing that Feruchemical zinc is your favorite power?
  21. After some time working on this, I think it's finally time to release the second draft of the Mistborn D&D adaptation! Thank you so much to everyone who helped with ideas and advice, I sincerely appreciate it! As always, I'm more than happy to hear constructive criticism and more ideas, so if you have any thoughts to share, please post away! I wanted to make sure that this has all of the Allomantic and Feruchemcial powers out this time, as well as Feats to increase their versatility and some basic rules for Hemalurgy. I hope you guys enjoy! Allomancy: I wanted to make it possible for Allomancers to use their powers most of the time, but they would need to worry about running out of charges, hence the reason Allomantic charges are often used in terms of rounds rather than minutes or even hours. Also, thank you @TheFrugalWizard for the reminder on actually needing to set rules for obtaining metals for Allomancy I may decide to change some metals' powers at some point, at least tweaking them. Any feedback on how they perform is appreciated! Rules for Allomantic Iron and Steel: These two deserve their own corner, as they are more complicated and potentially powerful. Big thanks to @Tamriel Wolfsbaine, @Lunamor, @KelsierFortnite, @Returned, and @Duxredux for your input and concepts for how this should work on the Balancing A-iron and Steel thread. I really like how it's turned out, and hope that others enjoy using it! Feruchemy: These I feel are pretty well balanced for the most part, but some future tweaking may be necessary depending on how they actually work out. Thank you @Duxredux, @Tamriel Wolfsbaine, @Quantus, and @Returned, for your help with this part, especially with Feruchemical zinc (and Allomantic gold. That one was pretty weird, and I'm glad for the advice). I think the way it works now should be acceptable for gameplay. Hemalurgy: I kind of expect most players to use at least some Hemalurgy in the game, so I decided to build in that a single Hemalurgic spike doesn't create enough problems to have a mechanical penalty (this does seem to be supported by cannon too). Thank you @Shardwatcher01 for the ideas on using exhaustion as part of the Hemalurgic Flaw; I think they turned out well! I do plan on adding quite a few more types of spikes, as well as more rules to use regarding them, but I think this will do for now. Hemalurgy in particular can be used in campaign specific settings, letting new possibilities be opened for the story and villain powers, motivations, and scenarios. Compounding: Honestly, this isn't supposed to be used by the players most of the time, but a DM who's doing a one-shot or who wants to see how far things can go can decide to let their players play as a Compounder. Allomantic Feats: These are mostly meant to represent an Allomancer using their powers and gaining greater skill and control over them, beginning to use them in more versatile and powerful ways. Feruchemical Feats: Similar to Allomantic Feats, but for Feruchemy. Hemalurgic Feats: A bit different from the Allomantic or Feruchemical Feats, these Feats focus on the actual bear of and potentially creation of Hemalurgic spikes. I don't have nearly as much here right now, but in future drafts there will certainly be more. Anyway, this is what I've come up with as of right now. I plan on adding more details later, such as rules for God metals, Malwish medallions, impure metals, and more mundane things like classes (meant to actually work in this setting), general non-Metallic Art based Feats, and equipment to be used in the setting. I'd also love to make another thread at some point where I post actual campaign notes/ideas to use in a real game, but it may take a bit for that. Thanks so much for reading my post, I had a lot of fun with it!
  22. As we know, Fullborn are super-duper busted, but here's another few reasons to pile on top of the list If a normal gold Ferring needed to save health to recover from injuries, they'd need to spend a lot of time being sickly and weak in order to heal from only a few solid hits (Wayne was able to heal from about 4 bullet wounds after spending two weeks in bed feeling awful). A Compounder like Miles would have the option of instead of fueling his Feruchemy with his Allomancy, Burning gold to fill his Goldminds. This still takes time and a rare, valuable metal, however. And this is where a Fullborn's Compounding becomes even more busted; they can use duralumin Allomancy to refill their Metalminds in a flash, rather than needing to spend time metabolizing all their metal, tough they'd need practice to make the process reliable, I'm sure (WoB). Basically, if a Fullborn were to, say, run low on their physical speed stores in their Steelmind during battle, they could zip on over to a bag of steel flakes/beads they'd gathered earlier, swallow the metal (probably using A-Bendalloy to buy more time), and Burn it all at once while using A-duralumin to completely and instantly refill their depleted Steelmind. What's more, normally a Compounder needs to Burn an amount of metal comparable to the Feruchemical charge they want, based on the level of power their Allomancy has. And that's just the thing; a Fullborn could choose to use Feruchemical nicrosil to Store their Allomantic powers for a time, later Tapping while Compounding to use less metals to gain the same Feruchemical charge. Basically, picture this; Miles wants to get 1,000 hours' worth of health in his Goldminds, so he Compounds a whole bunch of expensive gold jewelry he's looted over the course of a day or two. Boom, massive health stores for combat. A Fullborn could instead choose to Store their gold Allomancy in a Nicrosilmind for free (nobody needs to burn gold), then burn a tiny flake of gold over 1 second while Tapping hours and hours of Storing 100% of their gold Allomancy. There is Feruchemical compression loss you'd have to account for, but this is a legitimate way for a Fullborn to Compound with incredibly efficient rates, using only a fraction of the metal a normal Compounder would need to achieve the same effect. There's also nicrosil Compounding itself, which may be useful to speed up the process of increasing your Allomantic power stores, which is yet another Compounding hack they have. And, if a Fullborn ever needed a truly massive burst of raw power, they could Tap hundreds of hours of Feruchemical nicrosil in a single moment while Burning duralumin and a whole stomach full of metal. Since the amount of Investiture you get from Burning metals is directly dependent of the strength of your Allomancy, this means that Tapping nicrosil multiplies your Allomantic output. Basically, they could rip apart an army (or small city, I'm sure) in a moment with a bunch of pewter and steel with a little duralumin and a full Nicrosilmind. Or, if the Fullborn needs a more sustained flow of power, they could Tap Compounded nicrosil and Feruchemical steel to speed up the Burn rate and efficiency of their metals, once again multiplying their power manyfold.
  23. If you were Harmony at the beginning of TLM and you could have Marsh give a single Hemalurgic spike to Wax, Wayne, and Marasi each, which powers would you give them?
  24. You know, I hadn't thought of that before. I would say that it depends on whether the slickness functions by affecting the ground's axi which then have an effect on the Plate, or whether it functions by directly affecting the Plate walking on it. If it's a direct form of interaction, then I would say that the Plate is effectively immune to that sort of trick. If it's indirect, the Plate should still be affected by Lift's Surge.
