Don't forget that's also 16x the speed, dexterity, and healing boost too. Thanks, I try my best I mean, eh, you could keep it, but you could also have a Leecher or a Harmonium cube (filled with Leeching) do that for you as well. Or you could just barf it up, assuming it hadn't passed too far at that point. Though, I suppose if you had a fractured aluminum bullet lodged in your system, being able to immediately purge it would be nice, even if the side effects aren't. Another possible option discussed at some point on the Shard for an Allomancer to hold lots of metals would be to have specialized piercings, which could be removed whenever needed and wouldn't cause metal poisoning.

Possibly. Assuming Connection manipulated friendship is closer to that of a Divine Breath in how it works, it may prove more effective at taming animals than Emotional Allomancy since it wouldn't need as high a level of sapience. If you're looking for animal befriendment specifically though, Divine Breaths are apparently where it's at, so if you wanted to just go with that you might be better off.

Possibly, but I think it being more of a wild card like Atium is more likely. Metallic Art powers are more like a Connection plus Investiture, so just stealing Connection alone wouldn't work to take them, or else duralumin spikes could take any power.
-
It's an addition to your Spiritweb canonically, not an overwrite. Didn't know that about MAG though. Was it put there to let Full Feruchemists get Allomancy without making them overpowered perhaps? I mean, as I've been making the Mistborn D&D homebrew I've realized just how much things need to be tweaked so as to make a good game, so it would make perfect sense to me.

Yes and yes, though there are extra complications involved. For Spren Bonds, you have to take both ends (the Connection from the Surgebinder and the power from the Spren) from the Surgebinder and the Spren or they'll have the power to break the Connection and sever your newly acquired power. As for Elantrians, you if you weren't born in their country you'd need to steal their Connection as well as their power. As a side note, you'd be able to steal more from them in a spike, possibly because they're closer to the Spiritual Realm. In short, basically anything that's in the Spiritweb is free game for Hemalurgy unless it's an emergent property like Savantism.

There was a WoB that talked about why on Scadrial would someone want to alloy Lerasium to make Mistings instead of just making yourself Mistborn: I would like to argue in favor of Alloying Lerasium any time you get it; 1. You can choose to divide the power amongst a team of specialists, such as the Wax and Wayne gang, to make them all more competent. Sometimes, having a few individuals who have their strengths further augmented and their weaknesses reduced are just going to be more effective than having a single person who's got more abilities than they'd normally use. 2. You can make new types of "Twinborn", but only with Allomantic powers. These dual-Mistings would have new kinds of Resonances, and if you understood the principles of how they worked ahead of time, you may be able to make some very useful combinations. 3. Even if your only goal with Lerasium was to become a Mistborn, I'd still advocate alloying it, as you get to choose how your power gets routed. Basically, Mistborn have some redundant or nearly redundant powers that aren't all that useful when compared to their counterpart, particularly if that counterpart is an option. So, for instance, a person who took a Lerasium bead could make sixteen smaller beads that were alloyed to endow powers of their choice. They could forgo aluminum, brass, cadmium, nicrosil, and gold (unless they expect to be able to alloy to Atium as well and become a Fullborn. keep gold and nicrosil in that case). This gives them five extra powers worth that they get to cherry pick, such as tripling pewter, doubling bronze, and adding a level of power to iron and steel each. This would make them more than your standard Mistborn in a lot of scenarios, as they now have sizable edges in more directly competitive powers.

@alder24's answer on the Q&A forum about Spiritwebs and time got me thinking about Fortune again. I think that when someone is using Fortune, what they are doing is using "echoes" of possible future Connections that exist in the SR, that are then filtered through their subconscious Cognitive Aspect. For example, Syl "knew" Kaladin before ever meeting him. The difference with seeing visions, such as when Atium is Burned with duralumin, is that you're using your conscious mind to read Spiritwebs and probability in the SR, not using a natural mechanism built into your mind/soul. So, some instances of this in use could be a person like Navani might be able to invent a new type of Fabrial by "accidentally" stumbling upon a new discovery by subconsciously following the instructions of Fortune, Dalinar "knowing" Kaladin was a good fit for the job of guarding Elhokar because he "felt" it was right, and Vin potentially "sensing" that someone was dangerous by instinct alone. All of those interactions would be useful in those people's own minds, thus making their Fortune making natural predictions about those circumstances, but because they would sometimes misinterpret or ignore this advice (especially when given seemingly clear evidence that would suggest following other courses of action), there is a good chance most people's Fortune goes to waste. What's more, everybody has access to some level of Fortune (whether or not they listen to it), so just as with all forms of seeing the future the more people who use it, the more chance that it will wind up being incorrect due to direct or indirect competition. That said I think that people like Wayne may have a higher, or "stronger" Fortune than others, giving them an advantage when it comes to success; my goodness, Wayne had about 120 million boxings by the end of TLM, and he was basically running all of his decisions on gut-instinct reactions (I think his Resonance must have dealt with heightened Fortune). Thoughts?

Interesting. I don't think that this has to be the case (it could simply be a Linchpin spike or Autonomy using her Connection via the Trellium to fuel their healing) but it could be true. In order to become a Cognitive Shadow, you need to be drenched in Investiture at the time of death or already be particularly Invested. We do see their eyes begin to glow though, which could be pointing to this very act. Oh, do you normally read in another language? Now that would be pretty cool to figure out, particularly once H-copper becomes available; a little extra intelligence goes a long way. Also true. I wonder if Hemalurgy is more malleable in its metals' roles than Allomancy or Feruchemy since the Spiritweb is a more complex thing as a whole, and you could find multiple Spiritweb "paths" to achieve the same end result, but with different metals, such as using a steel spike for manipulating height and such instead of iron. Yeah, that's true. Also, he's Terris, so that probably also contributed to his height.
-
Isn't four spikes the minimum number that requires a Linchpin spike? Hemalurgy table quote: Now this has some interesting implications. If Hemalurgic iron can be used this way without transforming you into a Koloss or something else, it suggests that the amount of Investiture may be directly correlated with the amount of change a spike can bring. I theorize a minimum charge isn't going to warp you into a construct, as the "information" of the Spiritweb fragment has decayed into a plain Invested charge. Or, perhaps very, very tiny but beneficial changes could be brought about? For instance, maybe you'd get very, very slightly taller or stronger, and this may be part of why Wax is particularly tall?

Personally, I don't know that each type of Savantism needs a "unique" effect as a consequence to be thematically sound. Simply having an addiction or biological dependency on Burning/Tapping the metal in question would be pretty bad, and many forms of Savantism that don't drastically change the target could have smaller, more reasonable benefits, such as having a slight boost to range, power, and/or control.

Wouldn't your fist slow down when Tapping weight due to the conservation of momentum? I could see being lighter on your feet being useful for hulking-up, and Tapping weight right before you begin to rush, toss a punch (maybe. Feruchemical weight is wonky), or jump (and then release the Tapping to convert mass to momentum). The other idea was Storing some of the added "strength" gained when Tapping weight, which could then potentially be Tapped when Tapping more weight to increase the percentage of strength to weight ratio. Basically, it would just be a fancy way of making yourself more mobile while Tapping lots of weight. A bit convoluted, but it could potential prove to be a useful ability.
-
I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if the strength Stored from Tapped weight would act differently, perhaps increasing your body’s weight for weight strength? After all, you can Store wakefulness from caffeine in a Bronzemind (WoB), so if F-iron's strength is Storable in a Pewtermind it shouldn't be altered. Maybe it would make it easier to maneuver with more Tapped weight, since the added strength only affects your body’s ability to maneuver and doesn't normally keep up 1-1 with the added weight. Oooo, more advantage. Seems like there are more synergies between these two powers than I originally thought.
-
I mean, if Sazed can only Store 20% of his strength away at any given time (as given in the WoB), then being able to Store even 10% more would be a decent bonus. Though, while I imagine this to be a nice perk, it's not a massive game changer. Just another little synergy I thought was neat and worth considering.
-
I just realized, Wax finds it a little easier to move around and support his own weight when Storing via iron, right? Since you can realistically only Store a certain amount of strength via Pewtermind at any give time (WoB), Storing weight simultaneously would mean you can Store more of your strength at any given time. Both Hemalurgists of the right type and Full Feruchemists could make good use of this synergy to get more strength for later.

I'm sneaky like that Point taken.

Love it! That would be such a good use of those abilities for him. He'd probably like that one the most, as he could use it to make himself feel worse most of the time. . . But hey, at least he'd have more determination when he really needed it! Oh definitely. I'm fairly certain that his Resonance has to do with possessing an unusually high level of Fortune. He'd probably be able to use it far more effectively than any other Mistborn character. Kandra style?
-
Ah, yes, that's right. Actually, what do you think would happen if someone found a way to suffuse their Spiritweb with Ruin's Investiture without Hemalurgic spikes, such as by alloying Lerasium with the right percentage of Atium and then Burning it?
-
"Here, shove this 6" steel pole into your guts, it will make you feel stronger." But in all seriousness, I was mostly thinking of either Harmony using some of his Ruinous Investiture to either directly fuel their creation or Marsh recycling some of the Set's spikes that I'm certain they've collected as they've fought them over the years. . . I probably should have mentioned that in the original post, come to think of it. Okay, what if they're using modern Hemalurgic spikes with barred access to Compounding?
-
Quick random thought that came to me; if the only difference between a Misting and a Mistborn Snapping is the level of power (which I don't think we have real proof for), then would grafting a Hemalurgic spike to a non-Snapped Scadrien that added a lot to their total level of Investiture and had the same Identity potential make them into a Mistborn?
-
I don't know that you'd need to completely remove your physical protection from it. As @strmblsd said, you could just have a coating of aluminum on the outside of your steel armor, or perhaps you integrate smaller portions that would interfere with Investiture but not hamper your physical protection.

Good points, but I doubt that even with virtually infinite Stormlight that the Soulcasting Radiants could produce everything needed by all of Rosharian society. There are just too many mouths to feed, too many buildings that need to be built (though they often use Soulcasting for that anyway), and too many other resources needed. I think that Urithiru could sustain itself off of Soulcast food/resources, certainly, but that's a far, far smaller population to worry about. They could also give temporary aid to ther nations via the Oathgates and their Soulcasting, but trying to feed litteral billions of people with only a few hundred Soulcasters at most seems like a stretch. Also, skill is definitely an issue when Soulcasting complex things like suits of armor or crafting the non-Invested portions of Fabrials. Even with Lightweaving to form a better base for visualization, I don't think it would be so easy to create complex items via Soulcasting. Also, doesn't using Stormlight exhaust the Surgebinder? That would quickly lead to hard limits as well.

I'm super curious now; what do you imply by this?

Agreed. Sorry I made it sound the other way, I've been using my mobile account more recently and it makes it much harder to dictate what I mean.
