  1. Technically, yes, but powers are almost certainly more Invested than other Feruchemically viable attributes so Storing them would not only be faster but Compounding them (which is essentially just hooking your Allomantic powerline up to your Feruchemical battery) would be less effective, as more nicrosil needs to be Burned to get the same percentage of usable attribute as another Feruchemical power. I suppose if you had lots of nicrosil to Burn and some duralumin to speed the process up it could be useful though, especially if you needed a big boost fast. Actually, come to think of it, Tapping nicrosil augments your base power, right? So a pewter/duralumin/Steelpush while Tapping nicrosil would multiply the output by whatever the rate of your nicrosil was, potentially making it vastly more powerful.
  2. As we understand it right now, they'd be able to Store the ability to use each power in a Nicrosilmind, which they could later Tap to increase their power just as with any other attribute. That's a pretty powerful ability, if you ask me.
  3. Seems you've made a reputation for yourself friend
  4. Ah, my apologies. I had assumed you meant that he was attempting to only make more types of constructs from H-iron, as those would be easier to control. I was thinking along the lines of if he had devoted that time and effort toward that he should have discovered at least a few more if it was realistically possible. However, I suppose it's possible he didn't try very hard (he was busy with ruling, and then a great sense of apathy later on), so using servants to experiment instead of personally utilizing Fullborn SR hacks to learn new constructs wouldn't be super effective. Also a reasonable possibility. We do know he was messing with Rashek's head, after all, which is why he kept Alendi's journal;
  5. Technically possible, yes, but then why wouldn't he have another construct type or two made for dumb muscle tasks?
  6. I've been bothered by this for a while; Steelrunners are just too powerful. Even moving with a 20-50% extra boost to physical speed is a sizable edge in combat, but the true upper bound of steel Feruchemy (with no other supporting powers) is something like Mach 5 at sea level. That's 3,836 miles per hour, and since the fastest person who's ever been recorded ran about 27.5 mph (and only briefly at that), you can Tap your steel to become 139.5 times faster than him. . . I don't know about anyone else, but that feels a little OP- I don't care if you even have Atium vision, if your opponent is moving faster than you are able to counter, you are dead. In short, I'm 80% certain that Sanderson will nerf this power, just as with Hemalurgy. It would certainly make for a better story, and it means that it can be utilized more freely without concern for idiotic character choices needing to be made for the sake of plot. But, how would you go about nerfing it?
  7. Should put this on Sanderson Memes
  8. I see no reason why he couldn't. It was able to fuel Aetherbound and Allomancy after all, and neither has any Spiritual Connection to the Dor.
  9. Yeah, it's a bit weird, but I like to think of it this way; the attributes magical boost is the primary purpose of the spikes, but the extra Spiritweb bits (or possibly just warped Investiture) cause physical changes in the Spiritweb, kind of like if you were to mash extra code into a computer program. And that's why Bindpoint placement matters; you're taking spiritual "code" and splicing it within the code that already exists, so where you put it changes a lot. Yup. You can certainly Store more with a higher base strength- which means you can Tap more- but the percentage of your Storage is just there as a number to give you a general idea of the Investiture used, it's not actually the deciding factor of Feruchemical compression loss. Maybe. It's probably closer to pulling it off, but nicrosil works with powers, not attributes. If you could differentiate the Investiture of the Spikes and your own Spiritweb, maybe it could be done, but there are probably easier methods. For example: Warbreaker spoilers- It's probably going to depend on the Spiritweb fragments contained in the spikes and the Bindpoint placement. F-Chromium and/or A-electrum + duralumin could help with discovering that I'm sure.
  10. True, but liquid Investiture is the most potent form of Investiture, and Atium it in short supply for him currently. While Purified Dor does seem difficult for the Ghostbloods to get ahold of, it's not as hard as Ruin's Godmetal.
  11. Welcome to the Shard friend! There are a lot of powers that could potentially fuel Feruchemy; A-pewter can be siphoned off while Burning to fuel F-Pewter, F-steel, F-gold, F-tin's sense of balance (which is an assumption that it's possible, but seems likely), and F-brass and bronze might be able to benefit too. Having lots of Breaths would make it easier to Store health and color perception may be able to be Stored via F-tin. Strength from Stormlight or Shardplate can probably be stored in a Pewtermind, and health may be Storable by a Radiant with Stormlight or maybe if the Feruchemist has the Surge of Progression used on them. Actually, I wonder if F-tin could Store a Windrunner's intuitive sense of air pressure. That would be interesting. Now, as for raw, purified Investiture, I see no reason why it wouldn't work, as Identity and Connection are non issues and only having a power to "program" the Investiture matters. Marsh could probably even fuel his Atium longevity off of it, if he thought about it.
  12. There could be some very interesting synergies here. First off, it seems all attribute spikes grant you magical boosts (such as we see with Kandra Blessings and small Koloss that are unreasonably strong for their size). Those can probably be harnessed by Feruchemy, similar to the A-pewter hack. Second, a Koloss also grows more muscle mass as they age, hulking up dramatically (and yes, I believe this is an addition to the magical boost, otherwise it would be immediately present after their transformation), which can also be harnessed via pewter Feruchemy. Now, I don't know if a Koloss Brute needs all that extra strength, but they would have loads of the stuff. Perhaps it could be useful for Unkeyed Pewterminds? I don't think that's how Feruchemical compression works; it makes far more sense if it's based on total Investiture- attributes- Tapped at a given rate. So, for instance, if two Brutes Tap 100lbs worth of strength, but their natural strength varies (say, one can bench press 100lbs and the other 150lbs), there isn't going to be a difference in Tapping rate even though the percentages vary because the amount of Investiture used is the same. Still, having more strength to Tap from a Pewtermind makes them a lot more effective, especially since most of it would be a magical boost and wouldn't bulk you up. I don't think that this would work, unfortunately; F-Pewter specifically Stores muscle mass, not the other possible affects of Investiture, such as speed or endurance from A-pewter or the Spiritweb alterations made by H-iron. And that's the other thing; even one Iron spike is going to warp your anatomy, which isn't good in a lot of cases. I'm sure there are ways to bypass or mitigate this, but I don’t think they'd be super simple to achieve, not without som SR hacks at least. Overall though, good ideas for synergy.
  13. Of course; Compounding just gives you more of F-pewter's fuel, but Storing the actual strength boost of A-pewter shouldn't. Oh definitely. Even if you can get a denser muscle composition via training, you'll always need more mass overall, it's mostly just a matter of how much bulk you'd gain for the strength you needed. Yeah, a 5' Brute is going to be very limited in their overall Feruchemical potential- I mean, could you imagine the difficulty Vin would have if Sazed ever figured out how to use aluminum to make Unkeyed, Burnable Pewterminds?
  14. The rate at which you Store does not affect the amount of a charge a Metalmind can hold, it's purely about the amount of Investiture; Are you talking about the A-pewter/F-pewter hack? I think it has to do more with the idea that you can Store strength in a Pewtermind, but because the strength gained via Allomancy is purely magical in nature you get a magical boost when you Tap it.
  15. Oh, certainly they could; the amount of attribute Stored is directly proportional to the amount that you start with, so more muscle to Store = more attribute to Tap. Another example of this would be to have a 100 lbs. Skimmer and a 200 lbs. Skimmer Storing 30% of their weight. The heavier Skimmer simply Stores more at that percentage as it equals more total Investiture.
  16. I've been trying to get healthier and more fit recently, and have done some research on muscle building. One thing that stuck out to me was the fact that you can deliberately train for more raw strength but without bulking up significantly, creating a "sleeper build" of sorts. Basically, I'm thinking that if a Brute were to build up more muscle density, they could benefit more from it when Tapping as their muscles would put on less overall bulk, but get a comparable amount of strength. Thoughts?
  17. Actually, in terms of pure combat ability and overall utilility, you're right, a Full Feruchemist + Pewterarm is better than Mistborn + Steelrunner; there's just more synergy there, including to F-pewter and F-gold. Mistborn + Steelrunner combo does still have Ironpulling, Steelpushing, Leeching, and A-duralumin though, so there's definitely a tradeoff, but your combo has enough pros that I'd pick it over my original suggestion most of the time.
  18. As this topic has been resurrected, I hope it's alright to give my opinion. Before, I might have chosen a Full Feruchemist + Coinshot for combat ability, mobility(flight and speed), and even keeping a hand out for their allies and being able to make Unkeyed/Unsealed Metalminds for them. However, Tapping physical speed makes your metals Burn faster, essentially Flaring them more powerfully than would normally possible. As such, a well prepared Mistborn + Steelrunner would have serious augmentations to all their Allomancy, plus super speed. What's more, because A-pewter increases your physical speed, that can be Stored almost like a lesser form of Compounding, and by increasing your A-pewter's power when Tapping that extra speed, you gain more speed and a comparable level of protection from friction.
  19. I mean, it's better than quickly shaping them with a metal spike rammed in their guts, so there's that.
  20. Ah, yes, I misspoke originally, good point. Having one spike in total leaves you immune to being controlled, but having one more spike in addition to any others you already have will increase your vulnerability to being controlled, as it makes more cracks in the Spiritweb.
  21. Awesome! That's such a good design!
  22. Actually, one spike would make it immune to control rather than making it more vulnerable, as there are fewer Spiritweb cracks to exploit despite the stronger mind. That's how Bleeder managed to avoid Harmony's control.
  23. Definitely a valid point; experimentation with Lerasium alloys would require more and more of the precious metal to bring about useful affects, so there's that to worry about. I bet F-chromium or A-electrum would prove useful in finding them more quickly though, which could help negate some of costs of experimenting. New question that I just thought because of this; if a bad alloy causes Mistborn headaches and such, it goes away because it's a temporary thing, just some Kinetic Investiture gone awry. But Lerasium fundamentally changes the Spiritweb by permanently adding/augmenting your Connection and Investiture, so would a bad Lerasium alloy cause permanent unwanted side-effects? Yeah, it could have some really interesting applications, especially for research into the nature of Resonances. While these are both certainly good reasons to have this power, the later isn't going to come up nearly as often and the former leaves you drained of all other metal sources. It's obviously more of a personal choice where both options have pros and cons, but I'd probably maintain the decision of devoting the Investiture that would have gone to A-aluminum to A-pewter instead due to the large edge it would bring to many more circumstances. Thanks! Good points. I really hope we see more Lerasium in era 3 so that it can be experimented with.
  24. Don't forget that's also 16x the speed, dexterity, and healing boost too. Thanks, I try my best I mean, eh, you could keep it, but you could also have a Leecher or a Harmonium cube (filled with Leeching) do that for you as well. Or you could just barf it up, assuming it hadn't passed too far at that point. Though, I suppose if you had a fractured aluminum bullet lodged in your system, being able to immediately purge it would be nice, even if the side effects aren't. Another possible option discussed at some point on the Shard for an Allomancer to hold lots of metals would be to have specialized piercings, which could be removed whenever needed and wouldn't cause metal poisoning.
  25. Possibly. Assuming Connection manipulated friendship is closer to that of a Divine Breath in how it works, it may prove more effective at taming animals than Emotional Allomancy since it wouldn't need as high a level of sapience. If you're looking for animal befriendment specifically though, Divine Breaths are apparently where it's at, so if you wanted to just go with that you might be better off.
