I suppose that a Fullborn we'd see doesn't likely have the same level of Allomantic power as TLR, so they would be much more limited in both raw Allomantic might as well as having their Compounding being less efficient. They still would be extremely powerful though, as not only do they have access to at least one power that would be useful in basically every situation, they could also theoretically create Unsealed Metalminds and doll out powers of near equal power to anyone they so desire. One well-prepared Fullborn is perhaps the single most dangerous semi-mortal combatants in the Cosmere. A well-prepared Fullborn with an army of loyal, Invested minions though...well, even the Fused and Radiants would be hard pressed.

You could probably store pain via Feruchemical tin, then strategically implant metals throughout your body, and then use Compounding with the Bands to fill those metals with all the powers the Bands grant. It would theoretically be possible for someone to steal them, but it would not be easy. That's really one of the neat parts of the Bands; with the Compounding they grant, it should be possible to copy them, which the Honorblades don't allow. You could grant powers to as many of your allies as you feel (so long as you have enough metal), and you could give them as many or as few powers as you feel inclined to donate to the individual. Really, having the ability to give magical powers not only to yourself, but to your followers as well plays into the whole demigod theme nicely

I don't know that them being in the spiritual realm would matter too much, since Divine Breaths are primarily in the spiritual rather than the physical realm and can be given away without trouble (the real problem would stem from whether being made of Endowment's Investiture would be enough to transfer them naturally or whether they would need to be "reprogrammed" in a way that Awakening's system is). I always imagined the reason someone's Breath weakened when they were close to death was because it sticks to their being, their soul (even though they are physical they disappear with someone when they die), and is partially leaving the physical realm when the person does. Kind of like the Death Rattles or when Kel flared Malatium before he died; before death, you are closer to the spiritual realm, so your Breaths might be too. I hypothesize that the original Breath that Nalthians are born with are more spiritual than physical, which would explain why giving it away pulls off a little of their own Spark of Life and why Breaths have a tiny amount of the original person's "direction". When the give their Breath to someone else though, it becomes more physical, and so isn't as tied to their Spiritweb in the same way, so giving it away again doesn't affect it in the same way. I understand that this is hypothetical only and am open to be disproven should anyone have sufficient evidence saying otherwise.

I meant that it might be possible to create an Allomantic or Feruchemical power that could be voluntarily given away the same way that Bio-Chromatic Breaths are (whether Endowment's Intent would be enough to allow this is the real question). If it required a Hemalurgic spike to pull out the newly created power and give it to someone else, it would probably be pointless to use Endowment's Investiture at all in this process.

In Shadows of Self, Wax manages to use Steelsight to pinpoint Tensoon's Hemalurgic spikes. But the spikes were Invested, and more importantly, inside Tensoon's body, and Wax isn't even a particularly powerful Coinshot! How did this happen?

What do you guys think that Sazed will do with the Lerasium that will be make as a byproduct of creating Atium for Marsh? I mean,iIt's just such a powerful substance. It makes Hemalurgy weak by comparison, since there are no drawbacks to using it, there's no limit (theoretically) to how powerful you could get by burning it and adding to your power, and it's permanent. The only downside is that it's really rare, but now there is a known method of creating it from Harmonium. It feels like a really imbalanced magic power in the setting.

I think that it actually could be one or both of two things. 1. The conflicting Identity of the Hemalurgic charges caused them to "grind" against each other, eventually preventing them from doing anything useful. Basically, the Invested powers would have existed temporarily, but the pieces of Spiritweb acted like how a human's immune system would if a bunch of other humans' body parts - and their own immune systems - were sewed together; they just attack and destroy one another. Maybe the Investiture would even stay in the spike, but the "structure" of the Spiritweb fragments, the ability to use the Invested powers, would be ruined. 2. I think that it is also possible that since the people being spiked didn't snap and come into Allomancy, the Investiture hasn't yet been programmed into any specific power yet. It might be that the programming is actually predetermined though, which would make more sense since some people demonstrated having powers already, which might be because enough of the donors happened to have the same programmed power in their Spiritweb, and the Trellium spike placement happened to line up with that power in the recipient (i.e., if ten of the donors would have been Tineyes had they snapped and the spike in the recipient was placed in a physical quadrant bindpoint, the recipient would have demonstrated Allomantic tin temporarily).

They wouldn't have been able to control the rate at which they got the enhanced attributes though. At least, not any better than what can normally be achieved with Allomancy. But yeah, if they had considered doing that, they would have been much more dangerous.

Mistborn TFE spoilers...

It might work. I don't know for certain, but my instinct says no. I could be completely wrong though, as Feruchemy can store weird senses, including ones gained via Allomancy, so maybe Hemalurgic tin can too. As a side note, and assuming it's possible, if you used a Hemalurgic tin spike to grant yourself Steelsight, but didn't use it in your eyesocket, would it mess with your regular vision? After all, you can't regulate Hemalurgically granted attributes unless you also have Feruchemy, so maybe you lose normal vision even without putting the spike in your eye?
-
Yeah, I can see now. Straff may not have been completely incapacitated from the duralumin zinc blast, but it did have lasting effects on his decision making, because he could remember the effects. I wonder if a Mistborn or Hemalurgist could use this to blast their followers with loyalty, then have them continue to have some lingering effect because of the memories? I suppose it would probably depend on whether they decide to act on their base emotions or if they use a more logical approach, but still.

Hah! A Kandra amoeba. Steelsight is weird. I feel like when a Hemalurgic spike grants Steelsight, it's not really the same thing that you get from normally burning steel. TLM spoilers... I feel like having Steelsight via Hemalurgic eye-spikes is more of a Realmatic side effect of using the eye as your bindpoint than actually being able to take those kinds of things Hemalurgically- you can't take Steelsight via Hemalurgy (though maybe Feruchemy could, since it can store Allomantic Bronze sense), but you can get Steelsight with Hemalurgy by putting the spike in the right place (the eye).

I don't know if you can Hemalurgically excise the strength granted via Allomantic and Feruchemical pewter, as they seem to be only physical realm changes, not Spiritual ones. I think that if you used spiritual Feruchemy on yourself while being spiked (such as Feruchemically blanking your Identity) things would be different, but that's because they are actual changes to the spiritual aspect. Still, a Kandra with literal mountains of muscle should be more than enough to fill a Hemalurgic spike if done correctly. You might need to grant them Feruchemical iron, brass, cadmium, and bendalloy to help them maintain that mass without dying though.
-
You mean if the Kandra created tons of muscle mass for itself to Invest the spike (acting as the donor) or that the Kandra would make itself big enough to hold a four ton Hemalurgic spike (acting as recipient)?
-
Sounds fun, especially if you're a Kandra and don't feel the negative side-effects of Hemalurgically added human (or Chasmfiend) attributes You wouldn't have to deal with Identity contamination to get a super big Hemalurgic charge, since the power is only from one being, which is nice too. Though, their bones probably don't get enhanced along with the rest of their body, so they would just snap like twigs whenever they stretched.
-
Nice. I had assumed that the whole "protection from your own power" in Feruchemy was only in regard to you tapping the power, but it sounds like it goes for storing too.
-
I actually have an idea about how much they have. We see that the Blessing of Potency "more than doubles" one's physical strength (TenSoon's description in HoA). This makes sense, as it is powered by the Investiture of two human beings (two spikes), with a small amount of loss due to the Law of Hemalurgic Decay and possibly attribute compression, like we see in Feruchemy. We know that Bio-Chromatic Breaths contain more Investiture than other Shardworlder's Innate Investiture (assuming that they aren't Invested in other ways, such as being a Knight Radiant or Metalborn). Seeing as how you can store hundreds, sometimes even thousands of Bio-Chromatic Breaths inside mundane objects, you could likely fill a decently sized Hemalurgic spike (maybe like the Inquisitors, 12" roughly) with the Investiture of thousands of people (I'm not counting Nightblood, because that thing seems to go against the normal rules of Investiture compression). It is also worth noting... TLM spoilers... This means that a medium-sized (6") Hemalurgic spike could possibly contain the Investiture of hundreds, if not thousands of individuals (though you would need to find a way to blank their Identity, or the Investiture doesn't work properly). now, you might not get the total increase of strength that you would get from that much Investiture, as it would need to be compressed into a much smaller space (similar to Feruchemy), but you could still squeeze a lot into a spike if you do it right. As an aside, we also know that a standard Pewterarm is roughly twice as strong when burning pewter under normal conditions. If we compare a Pewterarm to the Blessing of Potency, a Pewterarm would probably only be as Invested as a few normal Scadrians under most conditions (and a Scadrian is less Invested than a Nalthian). I used to think that they were comparable to a first Heightening Awakener, but they might actually be orders of magnitude less Invested. And it might be that since they are using kinetic Investiture instead of Static Investiture (which releases a small, passive amount of energy directly from the Spiritual Realm) that they require even less Investiture than the spikes to get their strength out of their powers. I knew that we had been told that Scadrial was a "low Investiture world", but I hadn't really understood just how little Investiture they had until more recently.
-
That actually reminded me of a question I had about the full utility of Feruchemical brass; if a Firesoul only has part of themselves heated up to a dangerous amount (say, maybe they are holding a piece of hot metal, such as a cooking appliance), could they still use their powers? After all, if you have to store heat from all parts of your body equally, then Feruchemical brass's utility is definitely more limited - you'd freeze if you tried to make yourself same from overheating one section of your body.
-
True. Still, Sazed managed to pull off some pretty impressive stuff in TWoA with steel Feruchemy, and he only had a few days' worth of speed stored. I just wish that we would get some accurate attribute-loss percentages when a Feruchemist taps and how much Investiture can be stored inside a Metalmind of a certain size. That would be nice.
-
Absolutely. Sazed tapped clean a Pewtermind that he had been saving up over decades in a single battle. But the Feruchemist she had spiked hadn't been dead for too long if I remember correctly (don't have the book with me at the moment, I'll have to check later). Sazed did, however, get a few ridiculous bursts of speed with a Steelmind in TWoA when fighting Marsh, and he had only been storing for a few days. So it might be difficult, but such superhuman feats as were accomplished by Bleeder shouldn't be that difficult for a run of the mill Steelrunner to achieve.

Even so, it just doesn't sit right with me that the Set wouldn't chase after arguably the most individually powerful Metallic art. Speaking from a meta perspective, I know this was probably done so that the bad guys weren't too powerful and so that they didn't all have the same fighting style, but I just wish that there was an in-world reason for them not doing so.
-
Hold on, I just remembered that there was an ad in the newspaper in TLM that said that Steelrunner carriers were a thing. So that aren't that rare (sorry, I forgot about that). Why does being in the Village keep the Set away? I would think that them being without guns and not wanting constable interference would make them prime targets for spiking.

Literally laughed out loud when I first read this How even did you think of this many? Gotta love 21 though. I would bribe Sanderson to see him write that... if I actually had enough money (ahem, money at all), that is.
