  1. I am tentatively on board for this.
  2. As he heard the clanking of metal in front of him, Jasper began full-on sprinting. When the guards ahead of him came into view, he ran a few steps up the wall at a slant, then bounded off, leaping over their heads. He hit the ground running.
  3. "Should I know who you are, spectre?"
  4. "...What do you propose to do about the bout?"
  5. "Ah, you're learning already. What do you propose, then?"
  6. "I won't use my Aspect, I won't strike you except in retaliation, and I won't move my legs."
  7. "Let's have a few provisions to make things fair, then."
  8. "Indeed I would. Does a five-minute bout work for you?"
  9. "Whenever you're ready." A change seemed to have overcome Brother Sparrow, his typical serenity replaced with a strange anticipation.
  10. "Oh, I won't be the one learning, Vespyr," Brother Sparrow said. A grim smile spread across his face.
  11. "It is more complicated than that. I have spent a great deal of time thinking about it, and I have come to the conclusion that you have a number of valid points to your system of belief. However, there a number of other points on which you are frighteningly misguided. Would you care to spar with me briefly? I think that it should make for a useful demonstration."
  12. Jasper sprinted down the palace hallways, turning randomly. He didn't have the faintest idea where he was going, of course, but that had never stopped him before. He couldn't afford to get captured right now, though. This was too important.
  13. "Vespyr, if you have a moment to spare, I would like to speak with you privately."
  14. "Thank you for your assistance." Brother Sparrow followed behind the woman.
  15. "I am in no hurry. As I have said earlier, please inform me when he becomes available."
  16. "But you said that he was engaged in important matters. Do you regard my time as being more valuable than his?"
  17. "Then I shall wait here until such time as he becomes available. Please inform me when that happens." Brother Sparrow moved over to a corner of the room so as not to intrude.
  18. "Not precisely. I wish to speak with the master of this establishment, Vespyr. He will know me."
  19. Brother Sparrow ascended the steps up to the door of the "school" Vespyr had established. Upon reaching it, he hesitated. It was his own fault for having allowed things to progress this far, but he was not sure that to step in now would not worsen the situation further. He suddenly recalled an old military adage. Do what you must now, and regret it if you live to. Not the most uplifting sentiment, but it would have to do. Brother Sparrow pushed open the door.
  20. Sirrug laughed as he leaned back against a wall. "I never understood your fascination with puppets, Attin. If you'd just pick a host and stick with it, you'd beat me head on." The shadows around him began to radiate an eerie black light as something wrong started to emerge.
  21. "You're a feisty one, aren't you!" Sirrug met Rawiya's charge, catching her by the arm and tossing her back across the street.
  22. "What do you want the girl for, anyways?" Sirrug asked as he reappeared on top of the well. He snapped his fingers, and shadowy hands emerged to grab at her. "Do you want to steal her power or something?"
  23. "You're always fun to play with, Attin. But I don't want to deal with you right now!" The area went black for a moment, and Sirrug vanished, replaced by a pack of midnight hounds.
  24. "I promise I'll go easy on you, but Borutan's an old friend, and I'd hate to disappoint him. Good luck!" As Sirrug finished speaking, Rawiya's shadow erupted spears of darkness.
