Jasper approached the castle's walls, hoping the guards wouldn't immediately recognize him. He'd changed out the cloak he'd lost on the grounds for a simple blue one he'd stashed before coming here, and hopefully no one had gotten a good look at him, but he wished he had a better plan than walking up to the front gate.

"You are so used to violence that you consider nothing else. Perhaps not every conflict can be resolved without conflict, but that is all the more reason to try." Brother Sparrow strode closer and turned to Cumulo. "What did you come here for?"

"I do not believe that war is necessary at all. Even if it is, you are no longer killing in the heat of battle, you are executing a captive." Brother Sparrow had come close enough to feel Vespyr and the trapped man's pain, and he pulled on it, channeling his Aspect to see through Cumulo's eyes.

Brother Sparrow moved slowly across the sand, spreading out his Veil beneath him. The two combatants were still a fair distance away, but his senses had been sharpened enough that he could hear them clearly. "Vespyr", he called, "I fear that you are about to make a grave mistake."

Kieran cautiously followed after the trail of Rose's thoughts. Even from this far away, he could still faintly pick up on her anguish. Her thoughts were louder, somehow. He doubted it would be a pleasant experience when he found her, but clearly she needed whatever help he could offer.
-
Brother Sparrow walked slowly towards the fight, drawing the pain from those around him as he did so. It was nowhere near the agony of a full battlefield, but it was still more than he'd held in a long, long time. His Veil began to unfurl into thin, nearly invisible tendrils. I know that what I am about to do is wrong. I do it with full knowledge and forethought, and I can only hope that I have the will to prevent further wrongdoing. Brother Sparrow's typical friendly smile morphed into something more akin to a rictus grin as he approached the confluence of wind and lightning.

Jasper awoke with a start, glancing around warily as he search for the snapping sound that had roused him. He relaxed slightly as he saw a deer moving through the nearby woods. Taking it as a sign to get moving, he grabbed the coat he'd been using as a pillow and climbed down from the tree he'd been sleeping in. It had been a week since the events of the ball, and he had to hope that things had calmed down somewhat during that time. Even if they haven't, I still have a job to do. Quietly this time, with no distractions. He checked his remaining knives to ensure that they were sharp and tight in their sheaths, and began striding silently towards the castle.

Chaotic Light: A CBST-Verse Adventure
Fallapede replied to Zephrun’s Imperium's topic in Roleplaying
Night's Blossom slowed down her pace as she spotted the town she'd been searching for. It looked fairly unassuming, but if what she'd read was accurate, it held something hugely powerful in the right hands and horribly dangerous for the residents. Hopefully it's nothing major, just some kind of terrible weapon or monster. But if I'm right and there's actually a Core here... Better not to think about it. -
"It seems likely that using you as a catalyst would be more of a contaminant than an aid, but it may be worth a try anyways. You said your mother's name was Star, yes?" Keaghan wrote another note in the margin of his notebook. "Where does she hail from?"
-
"I consider myself somewhat of an expert on finding that which is lost, boy. It's how I keep myself occupied in my retirement. Tell me, have you anything of theirs? It matters not what."
-
"Hm? Oh, I'm Keaghan. You're new here."
-
"The boy's mostly right. There's definitely a lot of pink in there, though it's somewhat muddled with everything else going on." Keaghan speaks absentmindedly, initially not aware he's said anything as he continues scribbling notes.

-
Keaghan scrawled a complex-looking sigil on a napkin. It glowed for an instant, and the liquid vanished from the boy's shirt as though it had never been there. He didn't normally bother with such things, but why not? He was in a good mood today.
-
Keaghan walked into Vince's and sat down, pulling out his notebook and beginning to scribble as he nodded towards the usual waiter. He didn't really need the food, of course, but the coffee was nice and it was useful to keep up appearaces. It had taken a few decades for people to get used to him as it was; no point in spoiling that now. He noticed two children talking over at one of the tables. They had terribly interesting souls, and he made a note to investigate them. One had to keep oneself busy during retirement, after all. His notebook briefly glowed with a dark light, and he patted it fondly. I really did pick a nice town.

Stopwatch allowed her perception of time to return to normal as she stepped into the park. Immediately, she noticed that some kind of confrontation was taking place. She could hear the conversation clearly at this range, but it would be helpful to match voices to faces. She crept closer, keeping herself as silent as possible. @Exotwo@Not an Ookla

Brother Sparrow stood in the courtyard, quietly instructing a small group of youths on the finer points of triage. He paused as he noticed Vespyr's arrival.
