"That's helpful, I suppose." Jasper stretched and looked around, smiling vaguely. "So... the balcony?"

"The ideal way would be to prevent the union entirely, though that seems to be happening of its own accord, given what you've said. Failing that, I'd seek to ensure that the taxes and levies on the house's land remain unchanged, and other such similar matters."

"That would be very nice of you. You have my thanks."

"Is there a problem?"

"I was trying to find my way up to the balcony, but I must have passed the stairs. Somehow this place feels much smaller on the inside."

Jasper quickly became lost in the halls of the palace as he tried to navigate towards the upper areas. He remembered the way he had come, of course, but the size of the hallways didn't seem to match up with the outside, somehow, and he was sure he had overshot the stairs somewhere.

Once the guard had left, Jasper carefully opened the door and stepped out, heading towards the center of the castle. He hoped that he looked purposeful enough not to be interrupted.

Brother Sparrow put on a pair of thin gloves as he let the needle cool, then threaded it and began slowly stitching Cumulo's insides back together.

"Get a light and as much bandaging as you can find. And something to sterilize a needle with. A fire will do, but go quickly."

"If I do not, I cannot live with myself." Brother Sparrow carefully lifted Cumulo's torso up, sliding a few layers of gauze beneath him to catch the pooling blood as he did. "I doubt it is safe to move him yet, so I shall have to work quickly. Please do your best to help me remain conscious."

Brother Sparrow withdrew from the link with Cumulo and allowed his senses to return, channelling his Aspect inward to dull his own pain. As he noticed Cumulo's unmoving form, he sprang into action, grabbing needle, thread, and antiseptic from his bag.

Jasper sat quietly in the room, trying to keep his breathing steady as he waited for the guard's footsteps to recede.

Brother Sparrow narrowed his focus, omitting each of his other senses until pain became the entirety of his awareness, and then probed out with his Aspect, latching onto Cumulo's awareness and flooding his senses with Brother Sparrow's own.

"You've been most gracious to me, and I do appreciate it. You may think little of it, but I like to make a point of repaying such things." Jasper bowed and pulled open the door.
