  1. Kieran pulled open the tavern's door, steeling himself against the inevitable headache so many people's thoughts would cause. It had been a while since he'd eaten, and hunger would slow him down at this point. As he entered, he was almost immediately hit by a wave of panic from the woman in front of him, and he struggled not to curl into a ball. As calmly as he could, he asked, "Miss, could you please calm yourself? You're making my head hurt."
  2. "Well, that was a disaster," Eliza sighs to nobody in particular, picking herself up and brushing the dust off. "Still, I suppose it's better to start small." Standing up fully, she walks over to where the remaining Epic is still crouched against the wall. No fancy business this time, just good ol' fashioned steel. She makes sure to look him dead in the eyes as she pulls a knife from her boot and stabs him in the neck. "In case this ain't enough to kill you for good, make sure you let your Epic friends know I'm comin' for them next."
  3. "Wasn't so much about what was goin' through my mind as what I was gonna make go through yours, if ya catch my drift." He's strong, but she thinks she might be able to break free with some effort. She just needs a good opportunity.
  4. "Yeah, figures. Ya got me. I don't suppose you'd have any interest in lettin' me go, would ya? I got places to be." She's not even afraid, at this point. Just angry. Angry at herself, for thinking she could take someone like this on. Angry at this stupid Epic, for having power nobody should have. Angry at Calamity, and this whole stupid world. Breakneck, for once, is strangely silent, but she wouldn't stop it right now if she could. She crafts her teeth to be sharper, just in case, and then she waits.
  5. "Uh huh. Yeah, about that..." As Eliza turns, to face him, she pulls out the the blade she's been growing in her chest for the last few seconds and leaps for the Epic. He's clearly out of her league, but maybe the element of surprise will let her get lucky. Breakneck rears itself again, and she's barely able to force it down this time. It's getting worse. Focus on not dying, Eliza. Worry about this later.
  6. "I ain't no Epic. If I were, you think I'd have bothered talkin' to ya? I've seen what they do to people who look at 'em wrong, let alone point a gun in their direction. Place I come from... it ain't there anymore. So I ain't so afraid of just guns, if ya understand me. Might as well call you and little miss rainbow Epics, while you're at it." This one's smart. I'll have to be more careful around him. Take him out first, if I can. "Now, where was it you said you were headed?"
  7. "I don't know about a goal, but food would be good. I'm getting low on rations, and an actual meal would be nice. Do you know anywhere near here with food?"
  8. "Poor choice of words, I guess. I just meant everybody likes rainbows. You're very good at spelling for someone with dyslexia."
  9. "What kind of monster doesn't like rainbows? My name's Eliza, but you two'd better tell me yours, too. Fair play and all that." It's disturbing to think that the thing before her was once a child, but Eliza does her best to keep a level voice. She can wait. She has to wait.
  10. Eliza gave the tall one an appraising look. Maybe he was something like her, or maybe he just kept the monster better contained than most Epics. Either way, she might be able to learn something from him. "Do you mind if I join you? It's been forever since I've had any company, and walking gets lonely fast. I'm sorry for snapping earlier, it's just... guns and I don't get along well." Maybe if I hang around them long enough, I can figure out their weaknesses, she thinks. I just need to hope I can play pretend long enough.
  11. Eliza steps into the city proper, trying not to gag at the stench. The reek of Epic is even thicker inside than it was before. As she wanders farther into Edmonton, she happens across two strangers, large guns in tow. They both have the smell of Epic on them, though the larger one certainly doesn't look the part. She itches to take them down while she still has the element of surprise, but she knows in the back of her head that that's likely to be unsuccesful, if not lethal. The smaller one pulls up to her, and she has to bite down on the inside of her cheek to keep herself focused. She settles for growling "Keep those guns away from me," at the tall one. Maybe that'll scare them off, let her calm down a little. Maybe she'll get to blow off some steam.
  12. Eliza hefted her backpack higher on her shoulders as she trudged towards Edmonton, scanning the road for threats. As she neared the city, she didn't need to see the giant blue bubbles to know the place was infested with Epics - the whole place reeked of them. Pausing to get a better view of the city, she staggered as a new smell hit her, different from the stench of Epics, or the sickly rotting smell she'd experienced almost constantly over the last few days. No, this was something new. There was something wrong about this smell. She could feel Breakneck stir, eager for a fight, and Eliza struggled to push it back down before it surfaced. She didn't know how much longer she could maintain control, or how much longer she could maintain herself, but she wasn't going to lose it here, not after getting this far. She took a deep breath, did a few stretches she remembered from the before times, and resumed her grim march towards Edmonton.
  13. Breakneck Stopwatch
  14. Krystalfire, I think it was called? It just looked interesting to me.
  15. Sorry if this is completely the wrong place to ask, but your RP thing looks really cool and I'd love to be a part of it. How do I go about joining?
