  1. "This is going to be quite a mess, isn't it? I suppose none of you have an interest in talking things out." Raviid exhaled deeply, curling his fingers as he extended his power, slowing everyone else's passage through time.
  2. Raviid stretched and turned to the others. "Do you have any objections if I come with you? I'm probably not getting any work done today anyways."
  3. "That's too bad. Assuming you can read, you know how to contact me if you're in need of my services, so I'll take my leave of the area if the two of you don't object."
  4. Raviid sighed. "What do they teach you children? I'm a thief, a rather good one at that."
  5. "You can call me Verim, if you like." Raviid pulled out a small card from his pocket and tossed it to her. "I specialize in creative accounting and discretionary property relocation, as I believe I've mentioned."
  6. While the two heavily armed maniacs discussed their business, Raviid took a moment to check on the mess they'd left behind. Noticing that one of the Pacis was still breathing shallowly, he surreptitiously slowed him down to near-stillness. It wouldn't save him by itself, but it might buy him enough time to let help arrive. These people might hate folks like him, but still wasn't prepared to let them die if he could avoid it.
  7. Lina's advice went unheard with Sait's First Sight closed, but Sait was already doing as she instructed, isolating the tiny tingle and focusing the whole of himself on perceiving it.
  8. Sait breathed out deeply, letting his consciousness separate from his awareness, making note of each stimulus without analyzing it. He could feel the barest tingle of something at the very edge of his perception, and he instinctively pushed gently against it, trying to assimilate it into his own knowledge.
  9. "Well, I can't bring back the dead, but I'll give a fair try to anything material."
  10. "I was going to my office, but if you insist, I'll take the day off." Raviid looks at the coin he was tossing a moment ago, considering. "Well, I suppose I might as well give you folks the pitch. You lost anything you need recovered? Or maybe your rightful ownership of something precious has been disputed and you'd like to quietly get your hands on it?"
  11. "You're really not going to try to bribe or threaten me into silence?" Raviid raised an eyebrow. "Not that I object, but that's the kind of treatment I'm used to from your type of operation."
  12. "I'm sorry for disturbing your...disagreement," Raviid says, raising his hands as a show of good faith. "I was hoping to get through here, if you wouldn't mind terribly."
  13. "Incredible. Thank you for this opportunity." Sait sat down, closing his First Sight and attempting to isolate the globe from everything else.
  14. Sait remained quiet so as not to disturb her, watching the process intently.
  15. Raviid languidly tossed a coin in his hand as he walked down the street, humming a half-remembered song from his childhood. He paused as he heard a commotion coming from the alley, and turned, walking toward it to see what was going on.
  16. "I should have explained myself better. I am attempting to open my Fourth Sight, which will allow me to perceive and interpret all forms of arcane energy. I am simply asking that you concentrate enough magical energy within a small area to provide a point of focus so that I might more quickly isolate it. I think this exercise will be useful in my pursuit."
  17. "At the moment, I am seeking to open my perception to magical energy. I hope that if you provide a concentrated point of arcane potential it will be easier to focus on and identify."
  18. "I shall, then, Lina," Sait replied, mentally noting down her name. "I am intrigued by your use of the arcane sciences. I hope that you will be able to assist me in furthering my own knowledge."
  19. "I am Sait. I do not know your name either."
  20. Sait approached quietly, moving around to face Lina's front side. "Hello. It's a pleasure to meet you."
  21. That's perfectly reasonable. I'll exercise until then. @Ookla the Lad
  22. I appreciate your compliment as I assume it was intended. Your ability in this field is most intriguing. Would you mind meeting me so that I might converse with you more directly?
  23. Are such intrusions habitual for you? How long have you been observing me, and for what purpose?
